I love K.L.Humphreys so much and this family of friends she has created shows you don’t have to be blood to have a bond. The group comes together to rally around Wynter comes back from her retreat that was to help her come to terms week a post rape. When they think things should be calm they are caught off guard. Sammy becomes the Knight in shining armor. The trials that follow will bring them together or tear them apart. Only time will tell.
So this is Book 2 and this is Winter’s story.
Winter was raped and beaten. She copes by getting drunk. Thankfully she gets the help she needs. But while she’s recovering the man who did this to her is stalking her. Good story about a women dealing with everything that happens to you psychologically after a trauma. I’m excited to see where this series goes next.

This series is certainly pulling no punches! The characters are full of life, pain, determination, loyalty and most of all love. I have no other words…not true… If you haven’t started this series, you really really should!
How can you not love this book!!
The author did a great job with Winters storyline, and the serious subject matter was well thought out and it looks like K.L. Humphreys really did her homework, I loved the characters, and how everyone had there own unique quirks, but as a group the really fit together, really looking forward to the next in the Deadly Series…A well deserved five stars!!

This book is wow!
Winter returning home, facing something from her past…
…she is broken, shattered, and scared..
She meets Sam.. who becomes her friend, companion, and confidant.
Love watching their relationship grow as their trust grows..
This story is hauntingly beautiful, reading how love can heal
While I am not a big fan of insta love I love the complexities that come with this authors characters. I wasn’t a big fan of Sophie’s book but I was all in on Winters story. Self proclaimed man-whore and with no shame in his game Sam finds himself thrown off kilter when he meets Winter. She has been through hell but with the help and support of Sohpie is working on her healing. This story is emotional, gritty and raw and does include retelling of a violent rape. But this is all about the obsession of that rapist and now with both teams pretty much family they are all in when it comes to protecting their own. It’s a tender subject handled well and it’s a great story. At spots it tends to be repetitive but it doesn’t take away from the action and twist. There’s loss and jealousy along with love and support and plenty of action.
This story had the potential to be a great read, but it just didn’t flow to me. The story was hard to follow, slow, and I just didn’t like the main character Madison. She seemed childish and all over the place to me. It has a lot of good reviews though and I am in the minority so you may love it.
This is an excellent second story to the series! So heartbreaking at times, and a really wonderful story. I loved Winter and Sam together! So much. Some parts of the story may be hard to read for some, but I think the author did a nice job writing them appropriately and did the characters and their emotions justice.
