Family is everything…unless they want you dead.Sweet little Emma Jennings is certain someone is robbing her vast estate, and she wants Kylie Hatfield on the case. Sure, an embezzlement case might be boring—boring and Kylie don’t mix—but Kylie feels for the octogenarian and pledges to right the wrong. She’s certain that she can. She’s just been promoted to Assistant PI of Starr Investigations, … Starr Investigations, after all.
When embezzlement turns to murder, Kylie is once again tossed into a situation she isn’t prepared for, and her personal life isn’t much better. Sexy Linc Coulter, her Newfoundland’s trainer and her friend with benefits, is facing demons of his own.
As her search for answers to Emma Jennings’s case grows more dangerous, Kylie is beginning to suspect that she might indeed be a magnet for trouble—and killers. Even worse, she also suspects that she might be Linc Coulter’s greatest downfall.

This series is coming into its own. Really like the relationship dynamics between Linc and Kylie. Want them to get closer though.
Deadly Lies, the second book in Mary Stone and Bella Cross’ Kylie Hatfield series, is another winning mystery that proves I was right to add these authors to my Must Be Read shelf! Though, I have to admit I still can’t tell whether I love the dog characters or humans the most! I mean a big black Newfoundland called Darth Vader, for a Star Wars fan, could only be beat by a big brown Chow Chow called Chewbacca!
Kylie Hatfield, the main character of the series, is no shrinking violet. I love that authors have developed some very strong female characters, even the villains are women with men as their minions. Though Kylie’s love interest Lincoln is a perfect counterpoint to her character.
Romance adds spice but the real draw of this novel is the mystery and suspense. The plot is riveting and captures the reader from page one to the thrilling end. The writers demonstrate their talent for word craft as the story takes many twists and turns and keeps you guessing as to who is the culprit until the very end. And just when you think you can catch your breath the authors hit you with a zinger that has you scurrying to read the next book. Luckily, the entire series is available on Kindle Unlimited so there is no waiting to begin the next book.
Deadly Lies is a lovely respite from the daily grind of household chores. It is very entertaining! I highly recommend you pick it up at your earliest opportunity. But start with the first book, Deadly Act, to fully enjoy the series!
This book is part of a series. Read the complete series and each gets better than the last.
Kylie Hatfield finally has her own case with the private investigator’s office where she’s been working. Emma Stone is sure someone is stealing from her vast estate and wants Kylie on the job. To complicate matters, Kylie’s attorney is Linc’s father. Emma has one family member left, her grandson who calls Kylie telling her they need to talk but he’s murdered before that happens. Can Kylie find the person responsible before anyone else is killed?
I really enjoyed this book. I was drawn into the story from the start and kept hooked until the end. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order. I’m looking forward to the next book.
I am enjoying this series So much. Kylie is an awesome character. She just can’t seem to stay out of trouble!! I love the chemistry between her and Linc. If you like a book with lots of adventure, you should read this series. I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review
I’m definitely enjoying more of this new series as I read it. The slow build with the various characters and the storyline, get you hooked. Can’t wait for book #3!! Mary Stone and Bella Gross have become an amazing team in this collaboration. Highly recommended read.
How far would you go to help someone you love? How far would you go to protect someone? Kylie has to decide how far to go and how to do so all while trying to help solve a ‘Simple” case of sticky fingers. (Or so she thinks.) As we follow plot twist after plot twist to determine the culprit we also follow Kylie’s and Linc’s true feelings for each other.
Mary and Bella have again produced an AWESOME book that is entertaining and helping the readers understand what it possibly means to be a “Wartime Veteran” and the demons they may have. Thank you for raising awareness of our demons.
Mary Stone and Bella Cross are on a roll. Deadly Lies is loaded with mystery and suspense around every corner. This one will keep you turning those pages because you just have to see what comes next. My only problem is getting left hanging and not having the next book to start now
Deadly Lies (Kylie Hatfield Series Book 2) by Mary Stone , Bella Cross this is book number two in this awesome series that I loved reading from the very begining. I can not wait to read the next book in this awesome series. I highly recommend this story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Deadly Lies by Mary Stone and Bella Cross is the second installment in the Kylie Hatfield series and I’m quickly becoming a fan. The storyline is good, building up with a slow escalation until all the pieces start to come together, then you can’t stop reading untill the end.
Kylie Hatfield hasn’t really settled on a career, currently she wants to be private investigator. She’s moved up from Assistant to the PI (secretary) to officially being Assistant PI. She’s still doing boring office work, but has actually been “officially” assigned a case. It’s just a suspicion of embezzlement case reported by an elderly lady. What could go wrong, afterall it’s not like there’s a serial killer involved or anything.
After almost being killed, Kylie and Vader are starting to grow up and are more mature. We get a short study of PTSD as Linc fights his personal demons and how it impacts mind, emotion, and his relationship with others.
Get ready for twists, turns, a little romance, and some laughs that will keep you turning the pages in this five-star mystery.
I did receive an Advance Readers Copy from the authors. The above is my honest review.
In Deadly Lies, Kylie finally gets her own case to work on after her ‘rehabbing’ in the office. While she is excited about this, Link..not so much. This book is showing us more sides of the characters, more emotions from them and added mystery and suspense. I really am enjoying this series so far. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I loved this book, it had suspense, excitement, romance, and murder. What else could you want? The characters were likable and sometimes fun. I can hardly wait for the next book in this series.
I would like to thank Mary Stone, the author for allowing me the opportunity to read an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
And the hits just keep on coming!! Another great book by Mary Stone and Bella Cross!! Keep up the great work, ladies!!
As usual another great series. Lots of twists and turns. Mary has done it again.
This is the second book of The Series Deadly Lies By Mary Stone & Bella Cross! In my opinion Kylie & Linc Character was so much more Mature and the intensity of Emotion for one another was Realistic. We were able to learn more of Linc PTSD and how it affects him in his Mind, Emotion, and his Relationship with Others.. We were able to learn how a more Mature Kylie Supported Linc although he Rejected her helped countless time.. In addition, Kylie new investigation o my this book was so good. Can’t wait to read the next One!!!It’s a Must Read Mary Stone & Bella Cross You Guys Are An Amazing Team You Did it Again!!!

Deadly Lies is better then the first book in the series. We learn a lot more about the characters. I did not want to put the book down. Kudos to Mary and Bella. Can’t wait until the next book.
