Research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey is convinced that someone is taking out her team one by one. First, a friend and research partner was killed in a home invasion. Three months ago, her boss died in a suspicious car accident. Four days ago, another partner supposedly committed suicide. And now Caitlyn herself has miraculously survived a hit-and-run. Afraid for her life with nowhere to turn, she … she reaches out to one of the victim’s husbands, Detective Josh Solomon.
Though initially skeptical about Caitlyn’s theory, Josh soon realizes that the attack that took his wife’s life was anything but random. Now the two of them must discover the truth about who is after Caitlyn’s team–and what their end game is–before it’s too late.
In this nail-biting thriller, award-winning author Lisa Harris will have you believing that there’s no such thing as random.

What an inspiring read! The fact that the characters don’t have picture perfect lives is engaging. Lisa Harris does a masterful job of letting her characters wrestle with real life situations, emotions, and life. She allows them to struggle with questions of the heart and faith. One cannot help but be pulled into the story right from the start.
In a masterful stroke of her pen, Lisa starts the story with her main lead male character, Josh Solomon, having to come upon his wife fighting for her life. From there, we travel with Josh as he handles the fall out from his wife’s choices. He then encounters Caitlyn Lindsey who was just run off the road on purpose. These two characters end up trying to stay ahead of someone intent on them disappearing permanently. In their moments of calm, storm, fighting for justice or life, what rises to the top is their heart and faith. How does one live a life of faith when everyday they see death, greed, destruction and the wrong choices people make that affect the lives of many?
Once you start reading the novel, I am thinking that like me you won’t be able to put it down until you reach the conclusion. It is mesmerizing, entertaining, filled with suspense along with surprising turns in the plot! Whether Lisa’s works are new to you or not, this is one story you’re going to want to spend an afternoon or two relishing!
Enjoy the novel and then share it with other readers so they can too!
CAN ANYONE BE TRUSTED??
DEADLY INTENTIONS by Lisa Harris has all the elements of an excellent Christian Romantic Suspense – complex characters (who can you trust?), a setting that makes sense with the plot and a plot that will have you completely engaged from start to finish.
Detective Josh Solomon has been contacted by research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey who believes she has discovered some unusual activities at her workplace. Some of those unusual activities include the murder of several coworkers, including Solomon’s wife. As they began putting the pieces together, they realize the stakes are higher than they’ve ever been and no one can be trusted. The conclusion is full of heart-stopping suspense!
I was provided an ARC of this novel by Revell. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
“Deadly Intentions” is a classic example of romantic suspense at its best.
Lisa knows how to craft a story, unfolding just the right amount of mystery and romance to keep the reader engaged and begging for more.
She had me on the edge of my seat, adrenaline pumping right along with Josh and Caitlyn in this story that kept you moving and guessing throughout.
With danger around every corner Josh and Caitlyn must depend on each other. Without knowing who they can trust, and the possibility of a deadly virus on the loose, the only things that remain to be seen are—Will they both come out of this alive? Will they get a second chance at love together?
I highly recommend this book and plan to pre-ordered “The Traitor’s Pawn.”
I was given a copy of this book courtesy of Baker Publishing Group. This is my honest review.
Lisa Harris delivers nail-biting, heart-pounding suspense in Deadly Intentions.
Research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey’s suspicions are raised when a friend and co-worker supposedly commits suicide. Knowing the woman as she did, she cannot believe she would do that. Then, she starts to realize that nearly everyone who had worked on the same project with her friend had died, either in an “accident” or in a “home invasion”. When she is nearly killed in a hit-and-run car accident, she knows her questions caught the wrong person’s attention. Who will believe her and help investigate her suspicions?
Detective Josh Solomon’s wife, Olivia, returned early from a business trip, and was killed in a home invasion. He believes they caught the men who killed her. They admit to the area thefts, though, but they refuse to admit to her murder. A year out from his tragic loss, his grief still holds him hostage. When a co-worker of his wife’s comes to him with an implausible story, can he help her find the truth, or will they both put themselves in a killer’s crosshairs?
Harris begins ramping up the suspense from page 1 of this story, and has it screaming by the time the book ends.
Readers who enjoy their suspense with just a touch of romance, will enjoy Deadly Intentions. I know I did!
Deadly Intentions was an absolutely stellar suspense. There was non-stop action from beginning to end. I could hardly put it down.
Research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey wonders if there’s a connection between the recent deaths of some of her MedTECH Laboratories coworkers and a secret project they were working on. While trying to connect the dots between the deaths and the project, Caitlyn herself becomes a target, thus confirming her theory. In need of someone she can trust, she goes to Detective Josh Solomon, the husband of one her murdered colleagues. Despite his doubts about her theory, he agrees to work with her to try and unravel this possible conspiracy.
There was never a dull moment. The suspense just kept building and building, right up to the intense conclusion. While there wasn’t a whole lot of it, I found the science stuff fascinating and loved that it was written in an easy to understand way. It was so interesting.
This was only my second time reading a Lisa Harris book, but she’s swiftly climbing my list of must-read authors. If you’re a fan of romantic suspense, I highly recommend this exciting read.
After the deaths of three of her co-workers, Caitlyn Lindsey begins to think that something may be going on behind the scenes at her employer, MedTech Labs. After asking some questions and getting run off the road, Caitlyn takes a risk by reaching out to a detective by the name of Josh Solomon, who also happens to be the widow of one of the dead employees. It’s up to her to convince him that his wife was murdered by someone she worked with, while also trying to stay alive. In a search for the truth, she will have to break some rules. Will she be able to live with herself when it’s all over?
Lisa Harris has slowly crept into my list of “must read everything they write” authors. I knew I liked her writing, but this book really blew me away. I put it down this morning and am still reeling from all of the twists and turns. I’m feeling emotionally exhausted, but in a good way! This is exactly the kind of book hangover I hope to have from a good Christian suspense novel. You know deep down that everything is going to work out in the end, but Harris had a way of throwing in just one more twist that made you think “this is the book that won’t have a happy ending.” Her quick but profound way of developing the characters leaves you feeling like you’re rooting for old friends as they embark on a mission for their lives. Anything but predictable, this book will have you at the edge of your seat and turning pages as fast as you can.
I would definitely recommend this book to my friends who love suspense. The faith issues in this story are realistic and captivating but not preachy or pushy. There is often a delicate balance when characters are put into hard situations, and I felt like Harris managed the believability of faith and fear/turmoil very well.
I was given an early copy of this manuscript through NetGalley for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
This book was set over a period of time, and I think that helped to make it more realistic. I liked the fact that you were never completely sure who to trust. While there was definitely resolution, parts of the ending were unexpected. Will be interesting to see if this involves a sequel or if it stands alone.
4.5 stars
Lisa Harris has quickly been climbing her way up my top favorite suspense authors list, and with the 300-plus page Deadly Intentions, I think she has made it to my top five!
Harris tackles some very difficult topics in her newest release from Revell, including the loss of a spouse and loved one, abuse, betrayal, and more. I applaud her not only for attempting to take on these topics, but for doing it so well. From the prologue, the reader can’t help but be sucked into the emotions of the story. I think a lot of books in this genre can forget to include the emotional and psychological impact of the hard events the story touches upon, and the emotional aspect gets lost. But this book ends up being very emotive as Harris dives deep into some tough situations. Detective Josh Solomon and research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey are both very real characters who are dealing with some real-life issues, which instantly makes them so relatable.
Any good suspense novel has many twists and turns, but Harris takes it to a new level with Deadly Intentions. My expectations were turned on their head about a quarter of the way through, and the book continues in that vein with smaller twists throughout the remainder of the story. This one definitely keeps you on your toes!
All in all, this story is a wild ride from page one! If you are a fan of romantic suspense (lighter on the romance than suspense) with lots of twists and emotion, I highly recommend checking out Deadly Intentions!
FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
If you love fast-paced romantic suspense, you’ll love this book by master suspense author Lisa Harris. With clear and concise writing, well-drawn characters, and lots of twists, this story is packed with action and adventures. The main characters, Caitlyn and Josh, are engaging and their chemistry is believable. I did get a little confused at times as there were a lot of secondary characters to try to remember.
Harris obviously has done her research, and it shows in the impeccable details and gripping plot throughout the book. With lots of suspense, intrigue, a touch of romance, and uplifting messages of faith, courage, and hope, this book has something for almost everyone. I’m looking forward to more books by this author.

Deadly Intentions
By: Lisa Harris
*REVIEW*
Lisa Harris is new to me, and I like her writing style. This story really packs a punch. It’s action from start to finish with a compelling premise. I was surprised by how twisty the story actually was. I thought I had something figured out, but I didn’t. The main characters are complex and have a great dynamic throughout. They are flawed but likeable and entertaining. I enjoyed this one overall and recommend for action romance readers. I will be reading more from this author.
It is another heart pounding fast pace story that will draw readers in from the beginning. The author cleverly hits readers with intrigue that starts from the first page and never lets up. It is not easy to always hold readers attention, but this author has proven to do it book after book.
The characters are clever, faith based , cautious and risk takers. Caitlyn is uneasy with deaths of fellow workers in the lab. There is a secret brewing among the deaths and Caitlyn is determined to find out the real reason they died. I loved her fierce ability to look past the obvious and dig deeper. It is very unnerving for Caitlyn after an almost tragic accident happens to her. Is she getting closer to answers? Who is trying to stop her from finding out the truth and why?
The addition of Josh in the story is perfect as he tries to help Caitlyn unravel lies and reach the truth in this edge of your seat mystery. Josh is still grieving the loss of someone which could hamper his investigation, but he knows that Caitlyn needs his help. The author puts plenty of twists in the story that kept me guessing. The faith element was good and elevated the story with hope. I loved reading this very intriguing story and following along as Caitlyn and Josh put their lives at risk to find answers.
I was provided an arc copy of this book from Revell Publishing, The review is my own opinion.
This book is pretty much a non-stop action ride full of twists, turns and surprises. It’s an quick and easy read as I read it in less than a day. I enjoyed the characters of Caitlyn and Josh. They were easy to like and their banter gave a bit of levity to the mystery they are trying desperately to unravel. The book flowed well and quickly and was mostly easy to follow(I had a bit of trouble with the sciency parts but I understood enough to get the basic idea). I didn’t like a couple of the plot twists which docked my rating a bit, but it’s a good solid suspense read and I look forward to more from Lisa in the future.
I received this book from RevellReads and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
Deadly Intentions is a masterful Christian romantic suspense novel by one of the best, Lisa Harris.
After three of her coworkers die protecting a top-secret project, Caitlyn Lindsey contacts the detective-husband of one of the victims, Josh Solomon. What could be so important people were expendable to keep it hidden, and who can be trusted to help the fleeing couple as they search for evidence?
This book rates right up there with the chillers and thrillers. I love the touch of bioterrorism, the medical explanations that are simple enough for a layman to understand, and the absolute terror element without venturing into the horror genre. I love how Harris weaves in the faith component. It is clear, timely, very apropos, and short, not preachy.
Because of the compelling nature of Ms. Harris’s writing, I was able to read this book through in 5 to 6 hours, at one sitting. Whew! That’s all the excitement I can handle at one time!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. This does not affect my opinions, which are solely my own.
This is a book that is so full of twists and turns and romance and suspense. It’s kind of spooky to think that there could be researchers out there that are coming up with viruses that could be so deadly and that people that want to use them on others. There were many sad parts to this story that made me cry. Love the characters. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Can they trust anyone around them?
I think I probably say this with every Lisa Harris book that I read, but, I will say it again. I think Deadly Intentions is my favorite one so far. I loved it! It was tense. It was riveting. It was gripping. It was action-packed romantic suspense at its best!
There are some books that are impossible to put down, Deadly Intentions was one of those. Seemingly ripped from today’s headlines this story of danger and betrayal was as relevant as it was entertaining. Seriously, if you want to sleep tonight, don’t read this chillingly plausible story right before bed….or at least leave your light on…
Lisa Harris is one of my all-time favorite romantic suspense authors and she just seems to get better and better with each new release. Deadly Intentions is a perfect example of that fact. If you love a story with equal amounts of danger, intrigue, and romance, with a faith perspective, I would highly recommend Lisa Harris’s latest novel…
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Wow!!! What a fantastic thriller!
It kept me on the edge of my seat!
Caitlyn Lindsey, research scientist, discovers someone is after her when car that was following her throws her of the road! Not only that but three colleagues from her research team, have accidentally died, even one of them supposedly committed suicide, each one after another in the last year. Both Olivia and Helen told her there was something wrong in a project they they seemed to want to share, but they never could do it before they died. These deaths, including her boss from a heart attack, are nothing close to accidental, and she needs help, so she turns to Josh Solomon, Olivia -her colleague and friend- who is also a cop, for help to uncover this mysterious and deadly events.
Josh doesn’t want to relive his wife’s death and his boss doesn’t want to reopen the case. But things start happening and they start discovering proofs that something very wrong and probably deadly has been going on in Caitlyn’s lab research. Something that may even be a potential danger to humanity… Is that the reason for these homicides? Did these deceased scientists knew more than they should or discovered a hidden or illegal project?
This is a total page turner. I really couldn’t stop reading it. One thing lead to another and the puzzle got more complicated as the book progressed. One thing is sure. Now they want them both killed and they have to avoid their unknown pursuers and discover who is behind this and what the threat really means.
There’s lot of danger and intrigue. I also loved both main characters. They were strong, respectful, kind, and went beyond their comfort zone to solve this very high risk case. While they were at it, slow attraction and admiration starts to grow. I loved that the romance was sweet and progressive, nothing rash or at first sight. It was really sweet.
I totally recommend this book. It will keep you engaged from page one until the end. You can trust no one!!
Lisa Harris is a master in the Romantic Suspense genre! A must read!
I received a gifted copy of this book from the author but this is my voluntary and unbiased review.
Lisa Harris never disappoints, and this book is proof of that. From all appearances, this is going to be a stand alone novel instead of a series.
Deadly Intentions is one of those novels that has non-stop action. There really aren’t many parts of the book that aren’t on the edge of your seat, page turning moments. The story is built on a conspiracy theory by a research scientist, and quickly turns into a run for their lives by the main characters as they try to uncover the truth behind what is a very complex and diabolical plan to harm many people.
Harris spun her novel in a way that I wasn’t sure who were the good guys, and who were the bad. I suspected two individuals who turned out to be innocent, and was surprised by the identity of one of the bad guys.
The book is romantic suspense, but that was a fairly minor part of the story. It was there, but it was more in the background than normal for these kind of books, and I liked how it turned out.
Caitlyn and Josh were very likable characters, and there were a few surprises at what happened to them and the scrapes they found themselves in as they searched for the truth behind three seemingly unconnected deaths.
I really enjoyed the book, and was happy with how it played out and ended. Harris hit another home run with this one, and it is another book I can definitely recommend.
I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.
Wowza! What a fabulous romantic suspense! I have read and loved several of this author’s books in the past, so of course I jumped at the chance to review this new one!
Deadly Intentions was SOOOO good, I was sucked into the story on page one and hated to stop reading!
I absolutely loved that the heroine and I share the same first name (and even the exact same spelling!) and it was also super interesting that we both happen to hate parking garages!
And, the hero Josh was so smart, sweet, and swoon-worthy, I loved him! The suspense in this book was nonstop with so many twists and turns that I never knew what would happen next, which I absolutely loved!
Overall, I absolutely loved Deadly Intentions, it’s right up there among my favorites of Lisa Harris’s books that I have read so far! I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to read this author’s next book!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.
In her latest romantic suspense, Lisa Harris takes readers on a hang-on-tight and buckle-your-seatbelt read that will keep you guessing how deep the conspiracy goes.
Caitlyn is smart and she’s got questions someone doesn’t like her asking. With nowhere else to turn, she meets Detective Josh Solomon and tells him she believes someone other than the two men convicted murder his wife a year ago.
The action is intense and kept me wondering (more so than even the characters at points in the story) who Caitlyn and Josh could trust. The pacing is done well with dangerous situations popping up just after readers catch their breath from the latest discovery or close call.
I appreciated that Caitlyn and Josh already knew each other when they’re thrown together in a race for truth and fight for their lives. The romance may seem abrupt but I saw the slow build to the climax of that part of this romantic suspense.
Deadly Intentions is a quick read because, once you start, you’re not going to want to put the book down.

‘How do I make them believe me, God?’
This is Detective Josh Solomon’s thought as he finds himself being interrogated as a suspect in his wife’s murder. The irony is that two men have already been convicted for this murder that occurred one year earlier but suddenly, after a series of questionable deaths, he and research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey have begun to wonder if these men are truly guilty. And now, Josh finds himself as the prime suspect in the murder of both his wife Olivia and his police partner Quinton Lambert.
Deadly Intentions is an exciting and intriguing tale that left me needing to learn more and I found it hard to put down as I searched for the cause of all of this madness. A deadly virus that could be used as a bio-weapon if put in the wrong hands appears to be the motive behind the many murders and now, in their race to find answers, Josh and Caitlyn are apparently the next targets!
Author Lisa Harris has an unique way of showing both the good and evil in mankind and I appreciate that she often shares a faith-based message in her books. In Deadly Intentions, Josh and Caitlyn both pray as they face the dangerous situations but Caitlyn struggles with her relationship with God. ‘What was she supposed to do when she couldn’t hear God’s voice? When she had no idea what to do next?’
Deadly Intentions is filled with excitement, danger, and suspense and there is also the promise of a romance between Josh and Caitlyn. Readers who enjoy romantic suspense and Christian fiction are in for a treat!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group. A favorable review was not required and these are my own thoughts.
