Wow this book keep me on the edge of my seat as the emotions in the book will make you feel like you are with them. This is about a women that was abused and makes a better life for herself in the military. This book will touch your heart.
OMG, I didn’t expect for this book to be so intense, good and amazing.
Sophia is military and she got through some really bad experience and her friends watched the whole thing.
He is looking for a criminal who hurt so many people.
But Nathan and Sophie step into a world that nobody expected to see and live.
I just don’t want to say too much. You have to read it and step into a world of torture, seeking justice, love, possessiveness, fightings and all other stuff that you can’t imagine.
Just read it. And I can’t wait to find a spear time to read other books in this series. <3
This was a tough one. The synopsis draws you in, but the execution was a bit lacking. I really liked the dual POV, however, sometimes… there’s alpha… and then there’s a**hole… which Nathan was at times. He was protective and at times, charming… but sometimes I just didn’t like how he would speak to Sophia. What I did like was Sophia was tough… and loyal. I would have preferred a little more action, versus being told what happened. I think it would have enhanced the story a bit. Overall, not bad… but not as good as I was expecting.
Wow! I haven’t read anything like this before. This is super action packed with some steamy interwoven in. So good and so different!
Wow what a great story, so full of action I couldn’t put it down. Sophia was saved from a rough childhood, only to be kidnapped and tortured while in the army. Now she is trying to escape her past thru nightmares and someone who wants to hurt her. Love at first sight for Nathan as soon as he sees Sophia , all he wants to do is protect her. She just needs to let him in. These two together are amazing, love the banter the fun and the love they have for each other.
Wow this book gave me the feels…
Sophia has had a terrible life. Her mom beats her for no reason. One day her mom abandons her at a dumpster. When she tries to follow her mom, her mom slaps her and tells her to stay there. Thankfully a lady seen this and took Sophia home. At 5 years old she had seen enough. Her new parents are awesome and treat her with nothing but love. She grows up with 2 brothers and her life is great. Then her mom dies. At 18 Sophia decides to run to the Army. There she becomes a kick butt soldier. Unfortunately her bad luck followed her and very bad things happen in Afghanistan. But miraculously she survives. Back in the states she recovers. And she meets a man! Just when her luck finally turns for the better. Her world comes crashing down. Will she ever be happy and safe?
Fantastic book!! Highly recommend this book!
I really enjoyed reading this book. Sophia overcame so much in life and to find happiness after all the bad that happened is amazing. Nathan doesn’t want to date but once he sees her, its a game changer. She bring good into his life and he will do anything to keep her safe and happy. The come together fast and intense but its perfect. They both have to face some challenges in order to get there HEA. I highly recommend reading this book!
I had a hard time getting into the book at first. I am so glad I went back to it. This book is so much more than just a romance or military book.
Sophia is a strong sassy woman who had to deal with so much as a young kid. She develops into a strong adult.
Nathan is an alpha man. He has his sights on Sophia.
Sophia has baggage that she hasn’t told Nathan about. Once she does can they survive? Will she try to push him away? Will she ever be free of the past?
This was a great read! So glad I stuck with it. I’ll be reading the other books soon.

Experiencing my first journey into the storytelling of words by K. L. Humphreys was intensely gratifying! A Deadly Hunt reveals the hardships of an innocent child who flourishes and blossoms under the love and support of a family that’s made her their own! Strong and independent, ex-Army soldier; Sophia Dallas slowly but surely recovery from her physical and emotional trauma. The unexplained draw to Nathan Slade has her opening up and exposing all her hidden secrets and fears. Trying to mend her broken soul, Sophia never expects her nightmares to follow her home, becoming a harsh reality. Nathan’s “strong secret ninja” is scared and vulnerable. “Dream Big, Live Bigger,” is what Sophia strives for; with her being prey to A Deadly Hunt, does she have the opportunity to finally be free? Survival tactics are in place. Who will pay the ultimate price?
This is the first book I have read by K.L. Humphreys and it did not disappoint. I do not typically read the military genre but this book was so much more. I loved Sophia’s strong character and how Nathan was able to break down her walls. This book was full of twists and turns. I cannot wait to read more by this author.
I started out really liking the idea behind this book. For once, you have the female lead character as the one who has seen combat and who was in a horrible situation where she was tortured. Usually you see the guy as the one being the military veteran. This was great! Something new and exciting! But the more I got into the book, the less I was into the characters. First of all, there is enough language and type of language to make a sailor blush. The women even call each other “names” in a joking manner, but dang. When it feels like every other word is the f bomb or something equal to it, it starts taking away from the book for me personally. So much language hinders the flow of the story. Then there is the blame game. Good grief there is so much blaming going on and Sophia’s emotions in general seem absolutely all over the place. You can honestly contribute some of it to hormones, but I have a hard figuring out how someone was overseas on a mission and unable to keep their own emotions in check. Maybe it’s ptsd related as well. Either way, emotions constantly run very high in this book. The end was pretty good. All ended well and things were mostly resolved for Sophia and Nathan. It was a nice ending and that made me happy that I read this book all the way through.
new author to me..
..I read this on veterans day..
It will give a better appreciation to our veterans…
….this book was incredible, emotional, roller coaster ride.
This book you are also on the edge of your seat, what is going to happen next…
With a love story mixed in…
It does have triggers, some may find difficult…
…but very much worth the read..
The ending was so touching, this will touch your heart!!!
A gripping and violent start, pulling you in to a story of an incredible woman who goes from abused child to an example of strength. I enjoyed the present-day-flashback-present-day method at the beginning, a fast way to introduce the character…then meeting Nathan. The author makes those first moments “wish you were there” special…and then the intrigue really begins. Good job Nathan’s a PI…
Sophia has been through a lot in her life, firstly abuse as a young child and then with the attack while she was in the army, with everything that has gone on she finds it hard to trust. Heading out with her friend one night she sees the hottest man she has seen for a long time and the attraction is instant. Nathan runs a security firm and when he sees Sophia sparks instantly fly.
Together they work through Sophia dealing with her attack, her past and building their relationship. Its action packed full of romance and suspense that will keep you reading to find out what’s next. Can’t wait to read the next in the series and see what happens with the other characters.
I wanted to read this in one sitting- it hooked me from the start- but I couldn’t. There were times that things were so emotionally charged that my anxiety and, for lack of a better word, fear for what might happen next made me have to take a break. There were many scenes that were hard to read through; so raw, gut wrenching, and horrifying really. I loved the characters- the nasty vile ones were done well and the others were like people that you might know, personality wise anyway. There were plenty of twists, action, and steam. There’s definitely alpha male, crude dialogue, violence… so if you’re easily offended by that, or guys being pigs, then you should probably avoid this. Otherwise, enjoy the story.
the writing is good. i love this author but this is probably the first book of her’s that I read and really just hated the main characters and their childish antics. I am going to read more of the series and hope the others don’t drive me bonkers as well.
