Deadly Holiday, A SCVC Taskforce Series
Misty Evans
A Christmas party at a Children’s hospital has the SCVC Taskforce pitching in to brighten the holiday for the sick children. Cooper and Celina are there to help.
A cartel leader and his army of men take over the hospital to get his very sick daughter help.
It takes teamwork to make it a happy holiday.
Thrown in is a romantic surprise.
Love the SCVC Taskforce series and this keeps you tuned into the wonderful agents and their lives.
A quick read that is packed with action and suspense and gives a great glimpse into what’s been happening with not only Cooper and Celina, but many other characters from the SCVC Taskforce series.
Like all the books in this series I have read (and most everything I have read from Evans), the balance between romance and suspense works so well together. I love the fact that these characters are truly partners and recognize that each other is capable and competent at doing their job. Even though they acknowledge that their first instinct is to protect one another and they may want to push the other to the back to keep them safe, they ultimately let each other do what they must and keep the drama and angst over it to a minimum – something I truly appreciate! And I totally loved the ending – Cooper’s surprise was wonderful and I loved how it all played out.
My only real issue with this one is the length. I did enjoy this novella, but I have not read Cooper and Celina’s story yet (Deadly Pursuit), so I think for me I could have used just a bit more world building for them. We are dropped right into this story and things start happening, which, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved, but I think I would have enjoyed knowing a little more about what happened in their past to know how they got where they were and some more of the why’s behind things.
All in all, not one of my favorites in this series – mostly because of the length, but definitely worth a look-see if you want to get wrapped up in an action filled story that ends on a wonderfully sweet note…and will probably have you looking at more in this series and from these authors!
OUTSTANDING! Cooper has a great surprise lined up for Celina after the Christmas party at the Children’s Hospital. He is excited about his plan, but he is not so thrilled about having to dress up as Santa, especially with the delectable sight of his lady dressed as an elf filling his imagination and pulling at his focus. If only that complaint was the worst thing to happen at the party! A super bad guy shows up with no clue that many of the volunteers are as bad as he is but is a much better way. Not only are many members of Coopers team there, two of the babies and all of the spouses/girlfriends are helping out. The partners are just as deadly as the team members and they all have loved ones and children to protect. Watch out Mr. Cartel Hot Shot! You and your deadly squad chose the wrong holiday party to attend.
It is a novella, but it is a complete, action packed read!
I reviewed based on an ARC provided by the author.
Deadly Holiday by Misty Evans grabbed me from the first page and never let me go until I turned off my Kindle. Cooper and Celina are attending a Christmas event at a childrens’ hospital. “The Beast” will be playing Santa Claus. (I would love to see a picture of him in that Santa costume.) Unfortunately, the event is attended by a cartel leader who is at the top of the most wanted list. But the team is there and the cartel guys won’t know what hit them.
Action, suspense, laughter and I even shed a few tears at the end (in happiness for Cooper and Celina). This is a perfect holiday novella to warm up an afternoon.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.
