Loved this whole series! Includes all 3 main books in the series and a bonus novella! I wrote reviews for each book below, so it’s a long review and may be repetitive.
Quick review – Entertaining, unique, and lots of fun adventure! A mix of dystopian and Sci-Fi! Enjoyed the whole thing!
Book 1 – Hope Drowned – 4 rating
Entertaining story with some unique elements, and I liked the mystery going on from multiple angles. Sirena has amnesia and doesn’t talk; she now lives with someone who took her in after she was found at a car accident because there’s no personal information found out about her. Sirena has some weird recollections about the car accident; things dealing with her being different and the sea. Norton/Nor and his brother, Reed, just moved to town because they have a mission to accomplish; they are part of some mysterious group. Sirena and Nor cross paths since they go to school together, but don’t necessarily get off on the right foot. There’s POVs from both Nor and Sirena, so that’s great. They both are kind of weird characters. Nor thinks about environmental issues a lot, and Sirena goes back and forth with being strong then weak. They probably seem weird because there’s a lot of mystery surrounding both of them. Both are interesting, likable characters; just a little odd. I enjoyed the story for the most part, but there were some things that slowed the story down; there were some training sessions that were described more than they needed to be, and other times, important events were just skimmed over and thought back on. I think if those scenes would’ve been done in real time in the book, it would’ve added some good action to the story and helped the story flow better. Overall, an entertaining and odd story; I’d say a 3.5 rating that I rounded up to a 4 because this series has a lot of potential. There’s a cliffhanger, so you’ll have to continue the series for more of the story. I’m looking forward to reading the next book.
Book 2 – Trust Burned – 5 rating
This one was fun! I enjoy the bit of a road trip vibe going on. This one is in the POV’s of Henley and Ace; both are from the possibly shady university that had something to do with Sirena from the first book. I’d definitely read the first book before this one to get more of the story about Sirena. Plus, this book starts right after the events of the first book. I’m liking the bit of dystopian aspect going on with the water overtaking some of the land; this series discusses some environmental issues going on with Earth. Henley, Ace, and Jen have taken Sirena from the University and are trying to get her somewhere safe. The University has lots of technology to try to find the group, so they are having to deal with a lot and they didn’t exactly prepare well for their trip. Liked the scenario with Henley having a bionic hand, and with the mystery surrounding Ace. Really enjoying this series so far! Excited to read the last book!
Book 3 – Love Deserted – 5 rating
This one continues the story from the previous books and provides the conclusion for this crazy adventure. We are getting Reed and Jen/Val’s POV in this installment. It’s mentioned really early on that Jen is actually the real Val, and Reed’s dead girlfriend Val was actually the real Jen. So, yeah, there’s some weird stuff going on with that. Reed and Jen/Val were left in the last book to help take care of a couple of older people that couldn’t take care of themselves while the rest of the group tried to get Sirena to safety. Things do not exactly go very well; especially with water and food being very difficult to come by; the Earth is not a happy camper. Reed and Real Val have to go through some very dangerous things; luckily, Reed and Real Val are both tough and try to keep positive with some sassy banter.
Reed is a charmer with some jerk thoughts, who has been greatly affected by the death of his girlfriend. Real Val is super sassy; she stands up for herself and keeps Reed on his toes. These two are survivors; they definitely aren’t perfect and can be annoying at times, but they try. This whole group has been through so much in this series so far, and this book has them going through so much more. Entertaining, crazy adventure this whole series has been!
Book 3.5 – Calm Thawed – Novella – 5 rating
This is a short read all in Reed’s POV. We get to catch up with the whole group months later and get another quick, dangerous adventure. Loved catching up with everyone! The premise was exciting too! Entertaining and fun novella! This team doesn’t have an easy life, but they sure know how to adapt and survive. Whole series has been amazing!
What a great set of books. I really loved and enjoyed this series. Great job
The Climatic Climateric series is absolutely amazing! In this series, the world turns against the humans, and they have to survive in harsh conditions. There was so much action, the world building was awesome and I really liked the characters a lot! The storyline was so intriguing, it was difficult to stop reading. I always wanted to continue because I was curious what would happen next. Apart from action and adventure, there were also funny and sweet moments in the book, which I really liked. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes to read dystopia.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a great NC17 binge read to fill most of a week (unless you want to read about 36 hours straight).
Silent Siren: Set aside a day for this family-friendly tale set in New England in the near future with two high school seniors: Rena, who doesn’t speak, avoids touch, and lives with ‘Grandfather’ by the ocean, and Nor, who is Canadian.
Faded Flare: You will probably want to split this NC17 near-future escape attempt over a couple of days as it took me about twelve hours.
Arid Alarm: Set aside a day for this third installment of Climatic Climacteric Omnibus which starts when Jennifer Tate and Reed Stanley are still at the Juarez farmhouse. NC17 with some laugh-out-loud funny parts.
Humid Hail: This appears to be only available in this set and has most of the gang in Canada.
I had an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
