Things get personal for Sam Brower, undercover task force detective for human trafficking, when his niece, Autumn, goes missing. To make matters worse, he’s forced to work with his ex-girlfriend, Lisa Conover, former DC cop, when she’s assigned to a cold case involving his long lost brother. After infiltrating the gang responsible for the multiple abductions, Sam and Lisa try to unravel the … the stories behind the kidnapping of Autumn and the disappearance of Luke before their cover is blown.
Undercover work doesn’t lend well to trust. Even if they work together like a fine tuned instrument, will Lisa and Sam be able to salvage love after all they’ve been through?

Our couple has to work together on the case, but they also have a past. Can they put it aside to do what needs to be done?
This is book three of the series, but it is written as a standalone. No prior reading is required.
This is a romantic suspense story with some intrigue, action and romance in the mix. The writing is good and the plot has some nice twists and turns to it that made for a nice and intense story. I also rather liked our characters as they were well developed and had good chemistry, even though I occasionally wanted to smack them for bad decisions they should have known better. Overall, a highly enjoyable read.
Highly recommended.

Book 3 in the series
Although the author’s writing style has improved, book three of this series suffers from the same problems as books 1 and 2, lack of research, lack of proofreading (small grammatical errors and issues with the timelines) and lack of depth to the characters, especially the supporting characters (Autumn and Luke primarily) who are too integral to the story to be treated so carelessly.
It makes very little sense that Sam, who has been in law enforcement for at least 10 years, has never tried to find out about his missing brother before. Nor does it make sense that when he does try to find Sam, he needs Lisa to explain to him what information would be needed to conduct a search through computer records. Just as it makes no sense that he isn’t more suspicious of Luke’s story and doesn’t try to verify it before taking any action. The entire book makes Sam look like a rookie in his first month on the job rather than a seasoned detective who works on a specialized task force and has worked undercover for a number of years. (And speaking of task forces, since when would the head of a federal task force refuse to help on a possible trafficking case because Sam, as an uncle, might be too close. And why would Lisa, who quit the police force and became an investigator, identify herself as Detective Conover?)
When we do really find out Luke’s story, it is unceremoniously tossed in a paragraph. No back story, no depth, no ability to understand how or why he ended up where he did, making the story that is told highly implausible. But really, the lack of attention to detail, especially where timelines or character behaviors are concerned, make much of the book implausible. As a reader, I feel I am expected to work way too hard to ignore all the things that don’t make sense. This is disappointing as the premise of this series is intriguing. As these first three books were published between 2010 and 2011, I would love to see them rewritten to showcase the author’s acquired skill and attention to detail.

We’re in book three now of the Deadly series, and all I can say is oh wow!! This book can’t even begin to be compared to the first book in the style of writing as Ms. Confer has come so far in improving the way she writes the way her plot just flows instead of skipping around. What hasn’t changed are topics of the story which are kidnapping and sex trafficking, and just how great the plot itself is.
Book two was a major improvement compared to the first book, but book three was an even bigger improvement than book two if that could be possible, and book four is sitting right next to this just waiting for me to dig right in. I was a little anxious, not sure if I wanted to continue after the first book, but now I can’t wait to keep going.

Sam is an undercover agent fighting against human trafficking. Lisa used to be a cop and is Sam’s ex girlfriend. They have to work together to find Sam’s missing brother and niece. As they work together they get close again. Then Lisa is kidnapped too. A lot of twists and turns to keep to glued to the story. A fantastic addition to the series.

Deadly Deliverance is the third book in the Deadly series and is a great romantic suspense story.
Sam and Lisa have fabulous chemistry together. Unfortunately, they also have a history together and she is afraid that she will always come second to his job. This story is well written and engaged my interest from start to finish, with kidnapping, missing persons, human trafficking, danger, suspense, and a second chance romance.

This book is about an undercover agent named Sam who is fighting against human trafficking. His ex-girlfriend, Lisa, is a former DC cop. They are forced to work together to try to find Sam’s missing brother, Luke, and then – as it turns out, Luke’s daughter whose name is Autumn. Sam and Lisa remain very attracted to each other, but Lisa is afraid that the same thing will happen to their relationship – that Sam will put his job first, ahead of his love for Lisa. But they find themselves working together well as they search for Luke and Autumn. And then Lisa gets kidnapped – which I guess turns out to be helpful since Sam learns about the traffickers in order to rescue her. He has to go undercover in the trafficking organization to rescue Lisa, and is also able to rescue some other young kidnapped people. But can they find Luke? And rescue Autumn, who it seems is working with the traffickers! And can they learn who is running the trafficking organization, and finally stop them? And can Luke and Lisa work out their relationship so they can have an HEA? A lot of suspenseful events happen, even including a car explosion, so there is plenty to keep the reader interested all the way to the end of the book.
