From #1 Amazon & New York Times bestselling author Gemma Halliday and USA Today bestselling author Sally J. Smith comes sass, lies, and rock ‘n’ roll in a humorous mystery that’s sure to leave you guessing! Her name is Bond. Jamie Bond. And her life has never been more dangerous…Clients are usually beating down LA private investigator Jamie Bond’s door, looking to hire her and her crew of … of Bond Girls. But lately business has been slow, causing Jamie to take on some unusual clients. Case in point: the aging rock star who is sure his young alien-enthusiast wife is cheating on him. While Jamie has a feeling three decades of rock ‘n’ roll may have clouded his vision, she takes the case anyway-hey, money is money, right?Only when her client ends up dead under suspicious circumstances, Jamie is rethinking her career choices. Especially when a second band member hires her, this time to put to rest an argument over the rights to the band’s one hit song, “Hot Waitress.” The song was mildly popular in the eighties, and after being recently used in a millennial-aimed TV commercial it’s started generating big royalties-possibly big enough to kill over? Did the drummer with a temper finally snuff out his bandmate? Or was it the guitarist with a secret? The keyboard player with a decades-long grudge? Or did the younger wife simply decide she’d make out better as a widow than a divorcee? Between more suspects than she can trail, a side case involving frisky senior citizens, and two hot men both vying for her attention and demanding a decision, Jamie has more than she can handle. Can she make it out alive? Or will this be the case that finally breaks her?

Deadly Bond earns 5/5 Royalty Checks…Engaging and Entertaining!
Everyone has been effected by the pandemic including the Bond Agency’s bottom line; the lockdown has greatly curtailed much of the extra curricular activities which are the bread and butter of the agency’s cases. With their rainy day funds evaporating, Jamie finds it necessary to take on any client…no matter how tedious, complicated, or odd. Enter Drake Deadly, lead member of the 90’s band Deadly Devils who puts the image of aging rocker to shame. He is very suspicious of his wife’s sudden request for a divorce and adamant that she be followed and to report everything…who, when, where. Sure, she is twenty years his junior, but there’s a solid prenup and the substantial alimony doesn’t seem to be an issue. In writing down some key details, Jamie learns the wife attends AAA meetings. Substance abuse? No, Drake’s wife attends a support group called Alien Abductees Anonymous. Well, beggars can’t be choosers, and the demand for results “by tomorrow” is easily overlooked when a retainer is offered with a couple extra zeros. But, things strike a sour note when the next day Drake doesn’t show up for their meeting, and splashed over the news are scenes of a crime scene. Drake is dead.
Brilliant! Gemma Halliday has given cozy mystery fans a delightful twist to the James Bond franchise with this sixth full-length book as engaging as the previous dramas with loads of giggling wit, precarious moments, and satisfying “karmic” justice. The “Deadly” murder is the center of the story with suspects and motives with band members who seek to capitalize on a resurgence of popularity, a wife who may have chosen widow over divorcée, some having anger issues, some have secrets to protect, and someone chose murder. Jamie’s connections with best friends, colleagues, community residents, and law enforcement lend themselves to fascinating and heart-warming relationships to follow along with a romantic triangle that could split readers between Team Aiden and Team Danny. A PI firm doesn’t just work on one case at a time, and here, the Bond Agency finds their case load reprises a former, yet annoyingly entitled, client sending them to a high-end retirement facility to investigate a possible “gigolo.” Shakin’ AND Stirrin’ up the entertainment…don’t miss out! Newbies! It’s always important to raise the issue of whether or not a newbie can easily join well into the series. YES! I am not a newbie to the series, but those that are will find more than enough background and character connections in the first chapter to get caught up and ready to enjoy quite a clever cozy.
Jamie Bond is back in Deadly Bond which pays some homage to rock and roll. The Bond girls are having to take any clients they can get because business is not booming. This latest case proves not to be a simple one of catching the cheating spouse. With too many bodies, too many suspects and far too many motives, will Jamie and her girls figure this one out? I could not put the book down. There is a lot of action in this engaging mystery. Don’t miss it.
Another amazing adventure for everyone’s favorite PI Jamie Bond. This cozy mystery has lots of good stuff inside with favorite characters and some crazy cases. Jamie Bond and her girl PIs seek the truth for their clients along with appearances by Jamie’s father, her best friend Danny Flynn, and that sexy Aiden Prince. Crime scenes keep popping up surrounding the old band the Deadly Devils, and there is the mystery of who might be cheating on women at the high class retirement home? This is a super fun read. You don’t have to have read any other Jamie Bond books to fully enjoy this, but you will sure want to read them after you meet this fun group!
Business is slow, meaning Jamie needs to take any client she can get, even when she’s not sure there really is a case. When Drake, a member of decades-old band, Deadly Devils, asks her to follow his wife, she accepts the case, but then he winds up dead. Her next new case is regarding ownership of a popular Deadly Devils song, and who rightfully deserves the royalties. Although Jamie is off Drake’s case due to his murder, the song royalties case overlaps, and there are many suspects.
This was another great Jamie Bond story, one that kept me guessing. I am usually pretty good at predicting the killer, but I was off on this one! Jamie still needs to make a decision regarding her love life, with both Aiden and Danny still in the picture. I like her with them both, so I am not sure who I want her to pick!
A fun read!
