This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 9th book in the Amish Country Justice series. I have not read the other books in this series, but I do not think that hurt my enjoyment of this book. I love the characters in this book, but I really loved the story line. I did find some of the suspense parts I know where it was going, and they felt more action then suspense. I really enjoyed the Amish parts of this book as well, but I wish the English character show that she missed some of the English stuff while being in the Amish houses. The romance was slow and cute second chance.
Their lives are about to be disrupted…
Amish Romantic Suspense is a fast growing sub-genre that I’ve been enjoying since reading my first Marta Perry book a few years ago. Since then Dana R. Lynn has become one of my absolute favorite authors of Amish romantic suspense and I have fallen in love with her exciting Amish Country Justice series.
The amnesia trope has been used many time before, but, every so once in awhile an author will either bring something new to the table or will make it so interesting it seems new. Deadly Amish Reunion is one of those. Dana R. Lynn did a great job with it, keeping me intrigued and invested in whether Jennie and Luke would be able to survive the danger and piece a new and different life together.
As you can probably guess I enjoyed Deadly Amish Reunion. It was one wild buggy ride of peril and romance that kept me on the edge of my seat. Poor Luke, Jennie, and their son were run through the wringer with this story! But that was what made this ninth Amish Country Justice novel so much fun to read…
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Dana R. Lynn brings the suspense in Deadly Amish Reunion!
Jennie Beiler’s husband, Luke, had been presumed dead for five years, so when he shows up on her doorstep in time to rescue her – again – from someone bent on killing her, she is beyond shocked. Where has he been, and why does he look Amish?
Luke remembers nothing of the 5 years he spent living Englisch. An accident stole those years, and left him with a 5 year gap in his memories. He returned to his parents’ home believing he was 17 and on his rumspringa. He was stunned when they told him he was actually 22, and had been gone 5 years. During a trip to town, he catches a news report and knows that “Jennie” is in danger. He doesn’t know why, or even who she is. He only knows he must get to her. He arrives as she is being attacked, and stops the killer before he can accomplish his goal. He is stunned to learn that “Jennie” is “Mrs. Beiler” and her little boy, LJ, has his eyes.
As danger stalks them at every turn, can they find safety in Luke’s Amish community?
This story was a bit like riding a roller coaster. Just when the ride starts to level out, and the characters felt a degree of safety, another blind hairpin with a steep drop-off came screaming at them. There were so many “bad guys” that every time one went down, another cropped up.
Readers who love romantic suspense will love Deadly Amish Reunion. I even liked the conflict that arose from Luke’s amnesia and his return to the Amish faith. Don’t miss this one!
I received this book free from the author, but every opinion here is MINE!
This is the 9th installment in the Amish Country Justice Series from Dana Lynn.
Once I started reading this captivating story I couldn’t put it down. The author brings strong characters and a spine tingling suspense.
The story centers around Jennie Beiler. A single mom who’s preparing for holidays with her 4 year old son. A news broadcast captures her attention and sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change her life. She grew up in foster care after reporting and testifying against her stepfather for abuse and her mother relinquishing her parental rights. Jeanie has learned to keep her emotions close and has only shared them with one other person, Luke. His loss devastated her, but knew she had to be strong because she had a child to raise. This was not the life she had envisioned, but it was what she had. Suddenly finding out her step father had escaped prison and Luke showing up on her doorstep was much more than she was ready to deal with. I loved how even though Luke had amnesia he still felt a strong need/desire to protect Jennie. Could Luke regain what he had lost? Luke is a strong Amish man who wants to do right not only God, but also Jennie and his son. He never once thinks of himself first.
As the story opens I am quickly pulled me in and held me until the end (until 2:20 in the morning I might add). This story has elements of mystery, suspense, complex characters, turmoil, faith, and love. The plot flows effortlessly. The engaging characters are raw and real. This book is part of a series, but is written as a stand alone read.
I would recommend this book to anyone who love a clean story, Amish, or a good suspense.
**I received this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Danger, courage and Faith is throughout this novel.
I finished this book in one afternoon because of the wonderful characters and awesome plot this amazing author has written.
I liked the many challenges that Luke, Jennie and LJ were presented with. The twists and turns had me turning the pages and before I knew it, it was over!
LJ is a sweet little boy and he’s managed to win my heart..
I liked how he managed to adjust to any situation that came along.
I found myself rooting for him and his parents. I also found myself shouting at them too.
Luke and Jennie were perfect examples of when we should put God first in our lives.
I know it don’t always happen like that because we are human after all and God expects that. I’m glad He’s a loving God. For that I’m ever so grateful.
I recommend this book.

This exciting novel held my rapt attention all the way through. I didn’t want to set it aside but just to sit and read. The plot intrigued me, with an Amish man who had amnesia finding out he’d been married to an Englisch girl during those years he can’t remember. Now she and her son are in danger. How could he not do all within his power to help protect them? The story is set at Christmastime but can be enjoyed any time of year. I would enjoy hearing more of Luke and Jennie’s lives. I received a review copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
Another exciting read from Dana! I enjoyed Jennie’s story after meeting her in Plain Refuge. This one is just as exciting and with surprises along the way, I wasn’t entirely sure who the bad guy was until the end. The story moves well and kept me interested. A fun and exciting Christmas mystery!

This series just keeps getting better and better. Each of the books in the series are stand alone stories. I do not know how I would react to being attacked and then finding out that the man I had married and then thought had died turned up and was very much alive. This book has so many twists and turns. This was definitely a book that I did not want to put down. Jennie and Luke must learn who each other are to the other while being chased. Well written. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Was he dead like she believed? Or had something happened to him? And for him, what did he do during those missing years?
When Luke sees someone on the news as an escaped convict he immediately knows that someone is in trouble and he has to save her. He doesn’t know their connection or how he knows this but he just does. After suffering from amnesia for so long he’s used to this feeling that he’s missing something.
Turns out he was missing a lot! Missing a wife that is and a son that he can’t even remember. Well, truthfully he didn’t even know about his son.
Can Luke regain his memories and keep the love of his wife? Is there a way they can be together? They both can’t deny that they’re still in love but he’s Amish and she’s English and that creates maybe even more problems than the person who wants Jennie dead.
I loved this book. It read quickly and kept me reading from the first word to the last. I cannot recommend it enough.

This was a gripping combination of suspense and a second chance romance. Jennie receives a horrifying shock when she finds out that the stepfather who raped and attempted to kill her escaped from prison. She vividly recalls his promise to get even with her if he gets the chance. She would be dead if she weren’t rescued by Luke Beiler, the man she later fell in love with and married. Unfortunately, he died in an explosion five years earlier before he knew about their son. When she’s attacked inside her apartment, she is stunned when Luke comes to her rescue again.
Five years earlier, Luke woke up in a ditch, thinking he was seventeen and on his rumspringa. He was shocked when he returned to his parents’ home to find out he was twenty-two and had left the Amish community. Luke had no memory of where he’d been and what he’d done since then. He remained with his family and joined the Amish church. But when he caught part of a news program talking about an escaped prisoner, he knew who it was and that there was someone he had to warn. He remembered Jennie from when they were teens, so he and his brother went to find her. They arrived just in time to save her again.
I loved how Luke’s subconscious led him to Jennie, even though he didn’t remember their life together. He was shocked to learn of their marriage and their son, but there was no way he would leave them unprotected once he did. Both Luke and Jennie were wary of each other, Luke because he doesn’t remember, and Jennie because she does. Luke and Jennie are thrown together under extreme circumstances, and as they get to know each other again, they discover that their love is as strong as ever. But Luke is an Amish man now, and Jennie is Englisch, making it impossible for them to be together. I wasn’t surprised by the solution, but it didn’t come easily. Luke allows his fears to throw up roadblocks, even after Jennie makes a surprising offer. I loved his brother’s reaction to what Luke did and the kick in the pants Raymond provided. I loved Luke’s big moment at the end and the decisions they made for their future. The epilogue was a great peek at that future.
The suspense was intense and nearly non-stop from beginning to end. Jennie’s stepfather’s quest for vengeance was terrifying in its determination. From the first attack to the last, it seemed that Luke and Jennie could barely stay one step ahead. Steve appeared to have an infinite number of resources he could call on for help, while Luke and Jennie had few. I loved the scenes with Luke’s family, who immediately embraced Jennie and LJ despite their shock. There were multiple twists along the way, but it was the last one that really took me by surprise. The final confrontation had me glued to the pages until it was over.
Fast paced engaging storytelling that reaches and grabs you from the very beginning.
Reunited with the husband that she thought was dead, Jennie Beiler is shocked when Luke shows up at her door offering protection from her attacker.
I enjoyed the unique premise of this story, and how it all came together with it’s consistently great pacing and great characters. LJ is so adorable and I love how he quickly adapts to everything going on, taking it as it comes, and welcoming Luke into his life.
This book has all the right things going for it, with a original plot, a great balance of heartwarming and action packed, and fantastic characters. I loved watching Jennie and Luke get to know each other again, as well as how Luke is protective and devoted to keeping his newfound family safe. This was a satisfying read, heartwarming, suspenseful, and sweet. Definitely recommend!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
WOW! This was a book that kept me at the edge of my seat from page one! It has constant suspense and danger and you’re always wondering if a new attack is coming and from where!
Jennie Beiler is scared when she discovers her stepfather escapes from prison. He attacked her twice when she was young and she testified against him. Luke saved her that second time, and they later got married. But he’s been dead for five years after an accident in an explosion and he was presumed dead but his body was never found. She receives a huge shock when she’s attacked and Luke saves her from her attacker! Luke, in flesh and alive, but he doesn’t remember anything about her. He was found injured and with amnesia and taken back to his Amish Community. But he suddenly got a feeling in his heart that a woman who is important to him is in danger, so he appears in the moment Jennie needs him most. But the danger follow them every step, and even if Luke doesn’t remember his Englisch wife, he vows to protect her, and his newly discovered son of five years!!
The plot is totally intriguing, I don’t want to spoil it. Just to say that they are never safe for one second, and that Luke seeks shelter in his Amish Community, which is important, because everyone will discover he has a wife (and not a “Plain”one, and a son they never knew.
Other than the constant edge of your seat suspense, I loved the characters. Jennie was scared and was reluctant to trust Luke at first, so she pulls up her walls, because she knows that with Luke being Amish again, there’s no future for them. But seeing Luke’s trust in God, and his selflessness and giving nature in order to protect them in spite of everything will eventually move Jennie’s heart, and that is a sight to behold. Her growing close to God, and Luke trusting God at every turn. Is there a chance for this unexpected family? Can they have a future together? That is, if they survive the vicious killer?
This is a story I definitely recommend! Romantic suspense at its best and with an inspiring message that will leave you happy at the end. Loved the epilogue!
This book is part of a series but it can be perfectly read as a standalone.
I have read quite a few romantic, suspense books, but I’ve never read an Amish, suspense one. I have to admit that I was a little bit thrown off because while there is crime everywhere, most of the Amish books I’ve read have been quite fluffy. Even though this was a new genre for me, I really enjoyed this book. It’s the first book I’ve read by Ms. Dana R. Lynn, and I will definitely be reading more by her.
Deadly Amish Reunion is the ninth book in the Amish Country Justice series. I’m not sure if this is a standalone series, but I have only read this book. And other than a really strong desire to read Aidan’s(Jennie’s brother’s) book, I was not at all confused. Jennie believed that her husband was dead, so she’s shocked when he saves her and their son. Luke has no memories of his Englischer wife, but he’s determined to protect her and his newfound son.
It was really sweet and hard to watch Jennie and Luke work things out. They did love each other, but they had no idea how to make it work. I loved how Ms. Lynn showed Luke falling in love with Jennie all over again, and Jennie falling for this older, more mature version of Luke. It was especially adorable because they had their son, L.J, to think about. I loved all of L.J.’s parts in the book. He was such a cute character, and it was sweet to see Luke step up to the plate. And while Luke’s family were understandably shocked, they were immediately open to helping Jennie and L.J.
The suspense also kept me guessing until the last minute. There were a lot of different players that I did not at all expect, and there were so many twists and turns in the book. The action never let up until the very end. There are some more mature themes though. Jennie was raped by her stepfather before, but it is not described at all. Also, Jennie sees someone kill another person, and there is quite a bit of shooting at and violence including someone getting beat up. However, the romance side is very clean, and Jennie and Luke really only kiss like twice. All in all just a wonderful, quick read that I would definitely recommend!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
When Jennie Beiler is saved by the ghost of her departed husband after finding out that the man she put in prison has escaped, and is coming for her, you know you’re in for a good read! Full of suspense, and little twists and turns that were sprinkled throughout the book, your focus is not on the who, which is obvious from the beginning, but what is going to befall poor Jennie next, and how the monster is pulling it off, always one step ahead.
I enjoyed the drama and uncertainty of Deadly Amish Reunion, but what I really appreciated was Jennie’s character. What she went through was the stuff of nightmares, but she came out of it so grounded, rising above her circumstances, and becoming a great woman. Even through the ordeal in the book, she shows such strength, as does Luke, whose unwavering faith guides him, which is also inspiring.
Though part of a series, this book can definitely be read as a standalone. The writing and plot is gripping, constantly keeping you guessing, with characters you can’t help but admire, and a story that (scarily!) could actually happen! You can’t get much better than that!
*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher through JustRead Tours. All views and opinions are completely honest, and my own.
What a thoroughly satisfying romantic suspense! This book had it all: danger from the very beginning of the book that just wouldn’t let up, a possible second chance with a reunited love, a surprise son, and the quiet of the Amish countryside mixed with a terrible threat. These villains were determined to wreak havoc in order to get their hands on Jennie.
I really loved the way Luke’s mind guided him to protect Jennie before he even realized who she was and how important she was to him. Their connection was wonderful, even when Luke didn’t remember her.
The great chemistry between these two characters and the amazing things they had to survive made this a book that kept me eagerly turning the pages. And I loved the epilogue so much! This was the first book that I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more of her books.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Loved this book on so many levels. Wonderful book set at Christmas time that would also be a great book any time of the year. I was given a copy of this book by the author. There was no expectation of a review. This is strictly my own thoughts and words.
When Luke sees a news report that a man has escaped from prison, he knew he meant trouble for someone. The trouble is, he’s not really sure who this person is since he’d lost his memory five years earlier.
When Luke shows up on Jennie’s doorstep, she gets the shock of her life–the husband she thought had died five years earlier is very much alive and has no clue who she is.
I love how this story played out. The author made it so that Luke had impressions about Jennie and his former life even as he struggled to regain his memory. Ms. Lynn did a great job showing Jennie’s unwillingness to trust others, as well as, the very valid reasons she has for her mistrust.
The action started early in the story and kept up to the end. Jennie and Luke were forced to depend on each other and Jennie found herself turning to the God who she had always believed had abandoned her. She came to realize that God had always been there for her even in the hard situations she had to live through.
Deadly Amish Reunion is a great story that reminds you that as horrible as people can sometimes be to each other, there are still people out there who are willing to help those in need. We are also reminded that God is with us in every moment of our lives.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from the publishers through Just Read Tours; a positive review was not required.
I have always loved Dana’s books and this one is no exception. When I get a good mystery in my hands, I read it in one day.. this was one of them page turners I could not put down. It is a must read if you like a good romance and mystery rolled into one story..
No bookmark needed. Once you pick up this book it will be so hard to put down, so make sure you time your reading well. Jennie’s life has been difficult especially after losing her husband and finding out she is pregnant. When danger comes to her doorstep so does her husband. He had amnesia and embraced his previous Amish life. He vows to protect her and their son until the danger is gone, but what happens when he must choose his faith. Can Jennie let him go or join him. A story of faith in God and His will be done.
Another great pageturner by Dana Lynn! A story with strong characters, faith, romance, drama packed action scenes and second chances!
