Since we’re all enjoying puzzles during the pandemic, might I suggest a literary version by one of the greatest thriller writers out there??? Deadlock is Catherine’s best yet.
Series: FBI Thriller #24
Publication Date: 7/28/20
Number of Pages: 480
I can hardly believe it is the twenty-fourth book in the series and it is just as exciting and interesting as the first book – and I have read all of them. The book, as always, is very well-written, well-paced, and well-plotted. Savich and Sherlock are, yet again, in the cross-hairs of a psychopath who is very cunning and bent on revenge. What nefarious plans does the psycho have in store for them? Oh! You’ll just really need to read the story to find out. As with most of these books, we have two stories to follow – with multiple agents involved – which means it is a very busy read – and I love that!
The ’main’ story involves a psychopath bent on revenge against Savich because he has her locked up for attempted murder. She plans and executes a complex scheme to rob Savich of everything that gives his life meaning. It will take all of Savich and Sherlock’s skills along with a couple of new characters, Agent Pippa Cinelli and Police Chief Wilde, to thwart the plot and see that justice prevails.
The secondary story revolves around a lovely young art forgery expert, a medium, a dead lawyer, a dead congressman, and huge family secrets. Rebekah Clarkson Manvers, an art forgery expert, and wife of a congressman twice her age has absolutely no clue there are secrets in her family. She isn’t close to either her mother or her grandmother, but she and her grandfather were very close and she still misses him every day. When a medium, Zoltan, calls Rebekah to ask to meet with her because Rebekah’s grandfather has been contacting her and really wants to speak with her, Rebekah is skeptical, but agrees. What follows is a head-spinning series of events that reveal deadly secrets that can and will team a family apart.
If you love mystery and suspense, you’ll love this series. As soon as I finish a book in the series, I start counting the days until it is time for the release of the next. They are always great reads and this addition to the series is certainly no exception to that. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
In this next exciting new read by Coulter we meet Rebekah a young woman whose life is about to be altered in a big way. Rebekah can’t believe she is meeting with a medium but she has to know one way or another if what the woman is saying is true. Zoltan has told her she has been communicating with Rebekah’s grandfather and that he has a message from beyond for her. Can she trust what Zoltan is saying or is the woman a fraud. Meanwhile Savich is getting messages in the form of a puzzle that he needs to figure out where they are coming from not to mention where it leads to. Agent Pippa Cinelli recognizes the town pictured in the puzzle so Savich sends her there undercover to investigate. It soon becomes apparent that someone is after his family sending Savich into a frenzy of investigating. He must figure out who is behind all that has been happening so he can keep his family safe. Meanwhile he still has another case he is working on at the same time. Follow along as Savich and a psychopath collide and see who will come out on top in the end.
This book had surprises at the end and a good suspenseful plot that kept you guessing.
Better dialogue than her previous books in this series.
Catherine Coulter is an exceptional story teller. This book, like all her FBI Series books, has a wonderful, intricate, interlocking plot storyline that is a delight to read. I can’t wait for Book 25!
Good read. I really liked the characters and the plot of this book. I’m always up for for a Savich and Sherlock tale, and of course meeting new characters. Looking forward to reading the next installment.
A blockbuster FBI thriller with a very complicated plot and all kinds of suspects. Savich has to find the perpetrator that has endangered his family before they succeed. I really enjoyed the book, but I was disappointed that MAX didn’t play much of a role in solving the crimes. I did enjoy the switch in scene from their home in an affluent neighborhood to a small town that had a lot of character as well as many secrets. I was able to figure out much of it before the end, but then I have read all of the FBI books from Ms. Coulter.

Coulter’s FBI series are a must read. Can’t wait for the next one
Another good Savich and Sherlock book. Two different cases. One involving an attempted kidnapping. The other an old nemisis is after Savich and Sherlock and Sean are in the cross hairs. A red box shows up at the office what could it mean.
Thanks to Goodreads for the book. All thouts and opinions are my own.
I have read all of the books in this FBI series and this was the least interesting. Still good; but just didn’t grab me.
I will read anything Coulter writes
love all of these books
Catherine Coulter has a way with weaving subplots into the main plots of her FBI stories. Even though Savich and Sherlock are the main characters, she either brings back previous characters or add new ones that enhance the storyline. Her stories never disappoint!
As always Coulter keeps delivering with Savich and Sherlock!
Love these characters. Can’t wait until the next book. You never know what will happen next.Exciting.
I loved every book in this series and this was no exception!! Great story line with two plots confronting Sherlock and Savage but as always some new characters that are added to the fold. Couldn’t put the book down.
I’ve been addicted to this series since the first book. I love a good book filled with suspense, drama, and of course characters you can’t get enough of. Savich and Sherlock continue to kick butt, along with new and old favorites. I look forward to each book in this series and look forward to what comes out next.
Started out slowly but worth the wzit
Oh I love reading books written Catherine Coulter, every one of her books grab you right from the get go and don’t let go until you’re finished if you’re lucky. This one is no exception! If you have never read any of her books all I can say is WHY. Thanks for another great read Catherine!
Once again Catherine Coulter has delivered an incredible thriller. I loved Deadlock, the twenty-fourth book in her Savich and Sherlock FBI Series. The books keep getting better and better. Catherine Coulter has once again shown that she is a master storyteller. I love how Catherine incorporated the title of the book into the story. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I kept wondering how the story was going to get resolved. I love how Catherine always has a story within a story that include two random events that are not so random that I have come to love and expect, and Deadlock did not disappoint. I love reconnecting with Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock, both agents in the the FBI’s Criminal Apprehension Unit (CAU). In Deadlock, Marsia Gay and Veronica Lake from Insidious are revived. I love how Catherine Coulter makes them part of the new action. Deadlock begins with Marsia Gay planning revenge on Veronica Lake and Dillon Savich for their roles in her imprisonment. Another part of the story involves Rebekah Clarkson Manvers is contacted by a medium, Zoltan because Zoltan tells her that her grandfather John Clarkson, who recently died is trying to reach out to her. Rebekah agrees to the meeting, but then decides to keep some of the secrets her grandfather shared with her to herself. This leads to an attempted kidnapping of Rebekah the following day that is thwarted by Savich. When Savich finds out she is the wife of a sitting Congressman, Richard Manvers, he decides to have Griffin Hammersmith keep watch over her, since they are not certain who was attempting to kidnap her. Zoltan leaves Washington, DC after an attempt is made on her life. After Savich return to the Hoover Building, a mysterious package marked “Personal” is delivered to him. Inside in a red box that contains one third of a eerie puzzle. The following day an identical package arrives with another third of the puzzle. Pippa Cinelli, a new agent in the Criminal Investigative Division, identifies the location as her hometown of St. Lumis, Maryland. Her boss agrees to lend her to Savich so that Pippa can work undercover in St. Lumis to find out who is sending the packages to Savich. While wandering around an abandoned grocery store, Pippa is knocked out, tied up and left alone. When she awakens without her phone, credentials, and guns, she makes her way to the house of the Chief of Police, Matthew Wilde. Savich races to St. Lumis to talk to Pippa and Wilde. While he is there, his home is set on fire with Sherlock and Sean, their five year old son asleep inside. I loved this story and how wonderfully Catherine spun the tale. I love all the plot twists and surprises that I have come to love and expect in her stories, Deadlock had it all. I love how she resolves the story and the thrilling mystery behind the events that have been happening in Washington, DC and St. Lumis, Maryland. Never would have thought those events were connected at the start of the story. I also enjoy, how she leaves the Rebekah Manvers story somewhat unresolved. My favorite part of all her stories is the Epilogue and how she ties up some of the lose ends. Another incredible thriller by Catherine Coulter, highly recommended, and loved every page.
