“It didn’t help matters that his T-shirt could scarcely contain his muscles, and the way his jeans hugged his hard thighs made her mouth water.”
I’ve been a Cherrie Lynn fan for years so it was a no-brainer that I would follow her on this new journey. I’m kind of a geek myself so a sexy hacker is right up my alley and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Jace…I mean Deadlock …well, both.
I found the idea of Jace being faced with twins to be irresistible, especially if he hated the one and lusted after the other. It was very exciting as I waited for him to realize there were two of them. I knew he would fight his attraction to her just on principle, and I knew he would lose the battle, the wait was delicious.
Lindsey is the quiet one. She’s a loner and likes it that way. If it wasn’t for her fear for her sister’s life she would never have ventured out and asked Jace for help. She knew what her sister had done to him, so Lindsey getting him to even listen to her would be her biggest challenge. It would be no surprise to him that her sister had gotten herself in trouble, again, that seemed to be a theme in her life. But, what neither he, nor I, expected was what she did to get him to hear her out. That’s when things got really exciting!
I devoured this story from cover to cover. It had everything I dig in a romantic suspense novel. #Action #BadassTeam #Enemies2Lovers #GeekSpeak #KindleThrowing #Passion #Secrets #SexyTime #Surprises and best of all…more to come. The author teased me at the end with a glimpse of what I had to look forward to in the next Hacker World installment and I can’t wait! The line forms here…
This is an interesting complex story between two computer specialist. When Lindsay’s twin sister went missing she must contact the person who really hates his sister. And because they are twins when they met the hatred is thrown in her way. Jace still holds a grudge toward the person who destroyed his life a decade ago. After the identity clearing, he is prepared to help Linsday find her sister. They start a path which is full of secrets, deception and steamy roll between the sheets. The story has its end but it will continue because there are still secrets that will be revealed in another book.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
Lindsey and Lena are twin sisters with polar opposite personalities. Lindsey is more reserved and Lena is outgoing and into trouble. When Lena disappears, all Lindsey has as a clue is the address of the man Lena betrayed and that she crushed on in college. Jace is not thrilled to see who he thinks is Lena on his doorstep and in trouble. After he finds out it is Lindsey just wanting help to find her sister, he reluctantly agrees to help. An adventure filled romantic ride.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.
WOW! This is the first book that I have read from Cherrie Lynn and I am now a fan. This is a second chance, suspenseful romance, action packed page turner. I received a free ARC from NetGalley.com and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Lindsey and Lena might be identical twins, but their personalities are exact opposites. Lena was always getting them into trouble when they’re growing up and as an adult she hasn’t change. When Lena does another disappearing act, missing their parents 40th wedding anniversary, Lindsey is so angry that she ignores her sister’s text. But when, she goes to Lena’s apartment to look for her, she finds the apartment had been ransacked. Following the instructions on the text, leads her to the door of her college crush, Jace Adams, a man whose life Lena had destroyed. He didn’t know that Lena had a twin and at first doesn’t believe her. But Jace is now part of a secret government “ethical” hacker organization and a case that his group is working on intertwines with Lena’s possible disappearance. Lindsey is a loner and a skilled coder and while his group doesn’t trust her, they agree to help find her sister. Jace has a hard time reconciling his hatred for Lena as he is drawn to Lindsey. Lots of twists and turns that keep the reader engaged until the very end, eager to rad the next book in the series.
Wow! What an enjoyable, edge of your seat, intriguing ride! I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never read this author’s work before, but I will be reading more from her in the future — for sure! What an excellent romantic suspense–Jace and Lindsey were captivating from the getgo. They were well developed characters with quite a bit of depth. Then add in the secondary characters who were just as fascinating and the plot that kept me up at night, and I say this is a winner and I can’t wait for more! This storyline moves and keeps your interest throughout. I would say Jace and Lindsey get their HEA “for now”, but it’s obvious that there’s more to come. I would say it doesn’t end on a true cliffhanger, but it certainly makes you want to see what this author has in store for us in the next book in this series. And I, for one, can’t wait! Excellent romantic suspense – 5+ stars! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

There’s so many unknowns . So many secrets , trust issues , and definitely deceit .
Jace is not the easiest guy to work with then of course feelings get in the way . I really enjoyed reading this story . It is fast paced , emotional , intense . An all outstanding story . I’m looking forward to the next in the series . I highly recommend taking the time to read this story . A definite five star read for me
Such a great story! Lindsey runs back into her old crush when her twin sister goes missing (& he hates her sister!). I loved their attraction and the tension between the two of them. It’s full of action and passion!!
I was intrigued by the hacker theme of the story/series and it delivered!
Damn … this story had me hooked from the start. I loved the twin circumstance because it was unique, and it fit this story perfectly! The suspense, with all its twists and surprises, kept me glued to this story from beginning to end. Honestly, I just wanted it to keep going forever! The sparks between Jace and Lindsey were there from the very start.
This is a story/series where one book will lead into another. Now that might just be me and my interpretation of what I just read, but I’m pretty sure I’m right on that count. The HEA wasn’t as solid as I would have hoped, but there is no doubt in my mind that Jace and Lindsey will ride into the sunset together LOL I’m really looking forward to more from this hacker team! I think all of their stories will be just the right kind of suspenseful I enjoy!
Deadlock is book 1 in the Hacker World series by Cherry Lynn. This is a romantic suspense that will hook you from the first page. It is full of twist and turns, action, secrets and of course romance. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. I look forward to the next one.
Great read! Intrigue and mystery surround this group whose job it is to protect the nations web service. Jace and his group is a tough as nails brotherhood ready to do battle. Lindsey comes seeking help and has to work very hard to earn their trust. As she and Jace try to keep their hands off each other things spiral out of control. It sets the stage for the rest of the series which is sure to be brilliant.
The main characters pulled me in pretty quickly. In so many ways it was a pretty emotional story! With a lot of secrets, mysteries and dangers tossed in! And yes, brace yourself because there will be some steamy scenes.
Jace has lived quite the rough life for years. But he finally found “home” with The Nest, with a seemingly misfit group of people. Helix is one of those people that is more than just a co-worker, or friend. Jace sees him as a brother. But Jace is still livid over what Lena did to him; she stole SO much from him.
Lindsey had a fairly solid family upbringing although she kind of had a love-hate relationship with her twin sister Lena. Their father put it pretty accurately when he said that they were like night and day. And he really didn’t know about all the darkness that had surrounded Lena’s personality.
But who is Griffin and how does he figure into all of this? Is he a good guy or a bad guy?
The danger just keeps ramping up and the “villain or villains” just keep having them run in circles. Just like a dog chases it’s tail trying to catch it. But they do come up with some answers. But about the time I figure most of the secrets have been revealed the Epilogue brings up a HUGE question!
It seems like a H.E.A. for now for both Jace and Lindsey. It also leaves the door wide open for more adventures. And since I liked this book so much I think I’d like to go through that door to more adventures.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Once again, author Cherrie Lynn delivers a sinfully sexy romance with an extra helping of suspense thrown in for good measure. Boasting an intriguing premise and likeable, well developed characters, the story pulled me in right from the very first page and held me captive right up until the very last. And despite a few minor issues I had as events unfolded towards the end, I found “Deadlock” to be quite an enjoyable read overall.
From the very beginning this book drew me in and never let go. Twins Lena and Lindsey are as different as day and night. Lena is the devil may care person. Lindsey is the good girl that never does anything wrong. In the middle of this is Jace Adams, whom Lena destroyed and Lindsey fell for in college. Revenge is a dish served cold and Jace is now in a position to serve it. Danger is lurking. Who can trust who?
Deadlock is a unique twist on the enemies to lovers trope because Jace’s enemy is actually the heroine’s twin sister! So, there is a bit of an awkward meet cute for sure (Jace didn’t know she had an identical twin)! But, its also a bit of a second chance romance. Jace might not have known about Lindsey, but Lindsey had admired him from afar. She was smitten, but too shy to ever approach him. Years have gone by, her sister ruined his life and got him kicked out of school, and now Lindsey is begging for help because Lena (the twin sister) is missing.
Fast paced is the name of the plot game here! Jace is a hacker and works with a group of “black ops” type people who all have special tech skills. He has never forgiven Lena and he is quite an ass to Lindsey. I get why he was mad-Lena got him kicked out of MIT! However, now he can’t trust Lindsey because he is SURE this is another one of Lena’s games. Lindsey can’t trust anyone because she has no idea what is going on! She just thought her sister was flighty and gone a lot. Regardless of her feelings about Lena, she has to get her sister back safe!
Obviously, I am not going to give you too much info because that would ruin the book. You just need to know these two have a rocky start, Lena has some stuff she has been hiding from her family, there are lots of computer hacker info, and plenty of people who have dubious intentions. I thought the story was great and if you like danger and mystery, Deadlock will appeal to you for sure!
This is Book 1 in the Hacker World series. I had a hard time getting interested in this one at the start of the book. It was just a little slow to me, but it picked up after a couple of chapters. It ended up being a very good book. Jace is a hacker and is considered to be the best at what he does. Then Lena knocks on his door. He has a very bad history with Lena and hates the ground she walks on. But the woman is really Lindsey, Lena’s sister. She needs his help to find Lena. Wow! That was a shock to Jace. There is a lot happening with the background being built up and then all kinds of people being involved. So be prepared for it not to be your usual fast paced suspense easy read romance book because this is nowhere close to that. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley.
Lindsey Morris’ receives a strange message from her twin, Lena. Lena is missing and her apartment has been trashed and Lindsey is to go to a certain address for help. Lena is the mysterious twin, while Lindsey is content to spend time in her home and with her computer work. The address leads her to Jace Adams, computer hacker and former Air Force. Lena was once responsible for wrecking Jace’s future, why would she think that Jace would help her now? Jace was not aware that Lena had a twin, so his reaction to Lindsey was hostile…at first. There is more to Jace than his computer hacking and he agrees to help Lindsey find Lena as whatever Lena is involved in may relate to Jace’s past. This romantic suspense was quite involved as Lindsey and Jace work together to solve Lena’s disappearance. Although this story seemed complete, the ending seems to leave doubt that “happy ever after” is not entirely secure for Jace and Lindsey. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
I’m a huge Cherrie Lynn fan and the premise of DEADLOCK as well as the hacker element involved in the story line lured me in as soon as I read the blurb. The fact that the main characters, Jace Adams and Lindsey Morris, have a history, even if it’s complicated due to Lindsey’s twin sister’s deception and betrayal, is also an element of the story that intrigued me because I was eager to see how Lena’s past led to Jace’s hacker career as well as how his disdain for her attaches itself to Lindsey when she comes looking for Jace’s help when Lena goes missing.
I can’t say that I blame Jace for his mistrust of Lindsey; Lena, in some ways, ruined his life and forced him to traverse down a much different path than the one he would have chosen for himself, and while it’s clear he’s found a family among the members of this elite team, the person responsible for betraying him and almost costing him everything is not someone he’s likely to forgive or forget.
The path that Jace and Lindsey take to ‘more’ is not simple nor is it immediate; in fact, it’s never clear what their true feelings are for one another because there’s too much baggage, too much doubt that comes along with Lindsey’s twin’s actions, so while they come to a truce/common ground, their journey is one thwarted with doubt, distrust, and danger.
While DEADLOCK does have the romantic element, it is not truly solidified throughout the course of the story, and in my opinion, because it’s the first book in a series with overarching plot lines and the suspense involved in this story is more prominent than what happens between Jace and Lindsey, it’s difficult to completely buy into a relationship actually happening – one that would be able to survive Jace’s initial treatment of Lindsey, his team’s issues with her and her twin, and those enemies working against all of them.
Lynn’s Hacker World series is an interesting one, and even though, I found it difficult to connect to the main characters in DEADLOCK, I’m still intrigued by Jace and his team and what they seek to do on a daily basis, and I’m hoping to get more of Jace and Lindsey and what they grow to mean to each other throughout the series’ other stories.
3.5/4 Poison Apples
When Lindsey’s twin sister Lena misses her parent’s anniversary party, Lindsey knows something is wrong and a strange text from her sister directing her to a particular address is all she has to figure out what happened to Lena.
After stopping at Lena’s trashed apartment and meeting one of Lena’s colleagues, the mysterious Griffin, all Lindsey has left is to check out the address Lena left her with. Turns out Lindsey does know the occupant — a former college classmate who Lena ruined with a hacking dare.
Jace isn’t happy to see the face at his door, thinking it’s Lena, the woman who got him kicked out of MIT and ruined his life. But he learns that Lena had a twin, and Lindsey is also adept at writing code and hacking. He doesn’t quite trust her, especially after what Lena did to him, but as they really have few leads on Lena’s abduction, they are forced to work together, especially after Lindsey demands to be part of whatever Jace comes up with.
It turns out that Jace is part of an elite, undercover hacking group with ties to the military. The rest of the team is just as suspicious of Lindsey because of Lena, which keeps Jace at arms length. But a visit with Lindsey’s parents and all the time they’ve spent together has them moving from a place of distrust to one that has a whole lot more heat and skin as Jace and Lindsey fall into bed together.
But with Jace still not trusting her, Lindsey decides to take matters into her own hands and Jace and the team must save her from a very bad situation.
I’m a big fan of Cherrie Lynn’s writing, having found her books years ago and I absolutely loved Deadlock! I couldn’t put this down and by the time things really heat up between Jace and Lindsey, I was hooked on this series! I can’t wait for more.
The pace of Deadlock was really terrific and carried me to the final pages which I probably have to re-read because I was in such a hurry to see what happens that I probably missed a bunch of details, but that’s all good. That’s what I want in a romantic suspense story — lots of suspense and tension and a good dose of alpha males who know how to get the job done!
I’ve read a few hacker series and Deadlock does a great job with cyber security lingo and the technical aspects are well researched. Being in the coding/security business myself, it’s always one of my yardsticks when evaluating the technical aspects and Cherrie Lynn does a great job of it.
Overall, an intriguing and entertaining start to this series. Loved it!
Deadlock by Cherrie Lynn is the first book in the Hacker World series. We are introduced to a team of elite military hackers. This story features Jace Adams and Lindsey Morris. Years ago, Lena, Lindsey’s sister, betrayed Jace, but now they need Jace’s help. The last thing Jace wants to do is help or put his team in any risk, but the enemy they face may be more dangerous than they thought.
Jace is strong and determined man, but also hated Lena for what she did to him. So, when Lindsey shows up asking for help, he wants nothing to do with her. Lindsey and Lena are twins, but total opposites. Lindsey is a coder who likes the quiet life she leads and though she and her sister do not always get along, she wants to help her. Though when they meet again, Jace wants nothing to do with either Morris sister, Jace and Lindsey cannot deny their chemistry. Can they save Lena before it’s too late?
Happy reading!
What a great start to a new Romantic Suspense Series. Full of mystery and intrigue, lies and hatred with a side of hot chemistry and instant attraction. A great group of secondary characters that will be instrumental in keeping the series going.
Lindsey is your ordinary computer geek. She tends to be quiet and stick to herself, gaming at home when not working on her computer writing some sort of code. Men and relationships have not come easy for her in the past but she is sure she will find the right person someday. Spending much of her time making excused for her twin Lena with her parents when she is off on another hiatus.
Jace has found his home finally after the shitstorm that was MIT and Lena Morris. Some time in the Air Forces and now working hard with his team of misfits. But they have formed a family that he never had and as much as they all get to one another on occasion he would want to be anywhere else. When a reminder of his past knocks on his front door, things begin to spin out of control.
Will Jace find it in him to believe and help Lindsey or has Lena’s betrayal hardened him too much. Will he be able to suppress the instant attraction he has for her? Can Lindsey really be that different from her twin Lena? Will they be able to find her?
Ms Lynn leaves enough of a trail in the end, so we know there is definitely more to come from the Hacker World series. Excited to see what happens next. I will be watching and waiting.
