Slow starter. Story picked up about a fourth of the way in. Intrigue, angst and a little mayhem follow. There is romance buried amongst the anger, blame, mistrust and tribulations. Over the top, but not a bad read.
I found this book to be intriguing. I loved the set up of Lindsey’s twin sister (Lena) going missing but leaving a message for Lindsey to ask Jace to help find her was good enough. But, oh wait, Lena betrayed Jace and pretty much ruined his life (although it seems to me that the path he ended up on was better for him). And, oh wait again, Lindsey had a crush on Jace back when they were in college together. It all makes for a well-crafted plot. The slow burn between Jace and Lindsey was delicious. And the revelations towards the end made me eager for the rest of the books about the Nest – especially Helix because he cracked me up. This was a page-turner of a romance, and I look forward to more! Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, and the author for a complimentary pre-release digital ARC of this book.
4 stars
I love a good spy/hacker book so I was intrigued by the story from this new to me author, Cherrie Lynn. This story was a really enjoyable read, despite the fact that I like a little more romance with my suspense. (They dance around each other but barely kiss by the 60% mark.)
Jace has every reason in the world not to trust the woman who shows up at his door, his mostly untraceable door, wearing the face of the woman who ruined his life. This unknown woman, Lindsey Morris claims to be the mousy twin sister to his nemesis, Lena. At first, he doesn’t believe her sister is in danger, as they spend more time together he senses her sincerity and fear. Lindsey appears to be Lena’s today opposite; shy and awkward to Lena’s confident, brash demeanor. While he doesn’t trust her, they’re thrust together while searching for clues to Lena’s whereabouts. In getting to know get, he finds himself more and more drawn to her and begins to fear it’s his own judgement he shouldn’t trust. Is she as genuine as she seems or is she just another great actress like her duplicitous sister?
I really enjoyed the story line and as an identical, mirror twin (we look alike but are total generic opposites), it was easy for me to buy into how different the twins were. I do wish iti been heavier on the romance but I’m intrigued by the “team” and want to know more about their mission, etc so I’ll tune in for the next installment.

Be prepared to be sucked in from the start. Deadlock will pull you in and not let go. You are taken on a ride that is filled with twist and turns around every corner. You start to question everything throughout this one. Deadlock is full of suspense. You will love this one. Lindsey is brilliant and thinks she knows her twin. Lena oh there are so many secrets with that one. I for one can’t wait to find out more about Lena after reading this one. I love the chemistry between Lindsey and Jace. There is still such a mystery that surrounds everyone in this one. Seriously this was so good and I couldn’t put it down. Go one click this one.
Cherri Lynn is a new to me author but I am totally hooked!
Deadlock is the first book in her new Hacker World Series and it’s black hat vs white hat at its best! Jace Adams has good reason to mistrust Lindsey Morris but he seems to be the only person she can trust.
I loved the dynamic between Jace and Lindsey and the struggle to figure out who could and couldn’t be trusted. Lindsey has several moments of WTF that felt so real, as opposed to other suspense novels where the heroine never questions anything. Jace was a bit intense at times but his backstory played a role in that, and I’m hoping we get more of that as the series continues. The two of them together pushed their comfort zones but also created really sweet moments, the Legend of Zelda scene was perfect! The suspense and romance were well balanced and the steam level was spot on for the action of the book. I’m very excited to see where the series goes and exactly what role Lena did play in the MIT incident!
I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.
3.5 stars
I have enjoyed the other books I have read from this author, so I was intrigued by the description of this first book in a new series. A betrayal that shaped an individual’s future, a grudge still held, and twins who are polar opposites… bring it on!
Jace had a bright future ahead of him, but Lena’s manipulations resulted in his expulsion from MIT and eventual introduction to the Nest, a shadowy government hacker team made up of criminals with technological talents. After a childhood better left forgotten, the loss of his Hope’s and dreams for the future still rankles so Jace is less than inviting when Lena shows up on his doorstep asking for her help… except it’s really her twin sister Lindsay.
Where Lena is all mean girl seductress with an agenda, Lindsay is the timid girl next door mixed with doe-eyed innocence – most of the time. Just don’t question her devotion to gaming, especially The Legend of Zelda, or it’s on! Yes she is also a hacker and self-described gaming geek. Lena’s disappearance doesn’t exactly surprise her, but when she follows Lena’s cryptic message for help, Lindsay is downright stunned when her college crush opens the door. Lindsay always wondered if her sister chose Jace to mess with because of Lindsay’s interest, but given that Jace didn’t know Lindsay existed, Lena’s motivation is still a mystery to everyone but her.
Suspicion and mistrust are the order of the day for most of this book. It is very difficult for Jace to separate Lindsay from Lena at first, and he has a tendency to be abrupt, blunt and rude as he questions her motivations at every turn. Lindsay knows his attitude is a direct result of her sister’s actions, but she cannot seem to prove to him that she is not her sister- and it is particularly hurtful given that she can’t seem to stop noticing how much sexier he has become over the years.
There is suspense and intrigue as they try to figure out where Lena is and who is behind her disappearance, and Jace’s team is brought into the loop to help. As much as I wanted to love this story, I found it difficult to connect with the characters and didn’t really feel much of anything between Jace and Lindsay most of the time. Based on the ending, it seems like we will see more of Jace in the future although I am not sure if it will just be through an overarching plot across books featuring the other team members or if he and Lindsay will receive another book.

I have adored the Cherrie Lynn books I have read in the past (I mean, hellllooooo Ghost!) and I was intrigued by the hacker aspect of Deadlock, so it wasn’t a hard decision to make to request Deadlock.
And whilst I liked this story, I didn’t love it. I had trouble connecting with the characters, and mostly found them annoying and not really likable.
To me, Jace was just a d!ck, Lena a b!tch and Lindsey, whilst completely capable, a bit of a door mat to her sister – have I said how much of a b!tch I thought she was. But this could just be me.
I was intrigued by the hacker elements of the story – I am so tech stupid most of it flew right over my head.
So, whilst I didn’t love Deadlock, I did like it enough that I will read more of the series in the future.
Lindsey and her identical twin sister Lena are very different people. Lindsey gets pulled into danger when her sister Lena doesn’t show up for their parents’ anniversary party. Lindsey ends up on Jace’s doorstep. Jace’s plans for his future were derailed by Lena and he has a lot of emotions about it years later. He never met Lindsey back when he knew Lena. He is more than shocked to see her at first thinking she is Lena. Then even after finding out she’s not he is unsure if he should trust her. They end up working together to find Lena. I really enjoyed the book. It was full of suspense and a lot of twists and turns. The characters were enjoyable and interesting. It was quick paced and easy to read. I totally recommend! I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Deadlock is my first book by Cherrie Lynn, but it won’t be my last. Ms. Lynn has delivered a well-written book. The characters are fabulous and are my favorite part of the book. Lindsey’s twin sister is missing. She has one text from her sister telling her she’s in trouble and for her to go to a certain address for help. Jace hated Lena after she got him tossed out of MIT. When Lindsey arrives looking like Lena Jace doesn’t believe her and sends her on her way. Jace and Lindsey’s story is packed with drama, action, humor, sex and suspense. I enjoyed every page of this book and hope to read more from Cherrie Lynn soon. Deadlock is book 1 of the Hacker World Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. But there is a really good hook that will make you want to buy the next book in the series in the epilogue.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have been a fan of Cherrie Lynn’s books for some time now. I was so excited to see she was branching out into the romantic suspense genre.
I really enjoyed the complexity of this story and the suspense that she built up throughout the whole book, even into the epilogue. I am anxious to see where she takes the rest of this series.
I don’t know if I would call this a cliff hanger ending, Jace and Lindsey’s story is pretty much wrapped up, but with the little tidbit she left in the end of the epilogue, it makes you want the next book like NOW!! Also I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of Jace and Lindsey in this series. I kind of felt that there were still some unanswered questions in the end regarding Jace’s past at MIT.
I don’t feel this is a story you have to wait for the other books to be released, but just know going in you will be left kind of hanging and with many questions on your mind.
In this book we follow Lindsey and Jace’s story. Lindsey is the twin sister of Lena, who has gone missing. All Lindsey knows is she is supposed to go to an address and ask the person for help. Little did she know that it would be Jace answering the door. She knows Jace from MIT (where they both went to college) but Jace doesn’t remember her….just her twin Lena. And there is no love loss there between Jace and Lena. For reason we don’t….at least not all of it. Over the course of the story, secrets are told, lies exposed and hearts get involved. Can Jace and Lindsey work together to find Lena?? Will they get their HEA?? You have to read this story to find out.
I am not sure I would call Deadlock a standalone novel because I have a feeling that the characters will continue into other books and I have a feeling some of the storyline will carry over into at least the next book. I’ll just have to wait and see 😉 This story was told in the Third person Dual POV. I thought the flow of the story worked, but at times I felt the pace was a little on the slow side for my liking. But still this book was overall enjoyable and worth the read.
So if you are a fan of romantic suspense stories, pick this one up. It will have you devouring the story from beginning to end.
Jace is ex Air Force but is a military hacker. He and his group can hack into anything. Lindsey has a twin who has been flighty and undependable. When she goes missing and Lindsey gets a text to go to this address and ask for help. When she rings the doorbell, Jace opens the door. Jace is furious to see the one woman who totally destroyed his life. He wants nothing to do with her until Lindsey explains she her twin, Jace still thinks they are trying to set him up for something. The more he digs, the more he finds out about Lindsey and Lena. Will Jace realize Lindsey is nothing like Lena but will it be too late once she’s taken too?
Awesome story. Not the usually by this author but I really enjoyed it. Action, lies, secrets, and sex. A guy who trusts no one but his team and a woman who gets in over her head. A cliffhanger.

Deadlock by Cherrie Lynn a four-star read that will re-write what you think. This is the first novel in the Hacker World series, and I want number two like right now, that epilogue made the whole read, what comes next. Jace Adams and his team are intense, and they will make you think about if what you know is really what you know. Lindsay and Lena have a very complex relationship and it took me while to figure them out, and I still don’t know if I am truly sure of what I think is right. This is a complex and twisted story, filled with intrigue and passion. This is a great story and I can’t wait to read more from this author.
