I have been torn away from Earth… right. Especially if it brings me back home.
My name is Kat Drummond, and I’m a monster hunter.
Dead World is the seventh instalment of the action-packed thrill ride that is the Kat Drummond Series. If you love urban fantasy that leans towards the dark and snarky, then you’ll love Dead World and Kat Drummond.

This book starts off with just Kat and Treth and I thought it may get a little boring, but it definitely wasn’t! You get to learn so much more about Treth and his world and Kat gets to do what Kat loves. And while you find out more about Treth, there are mysteries solved about Kat as well!
A great book. Avathor is an enchanting land and I loved reading about it and the things Treth and Kat did while they were there. I also love finding out the mystery of how Treth became attached to Kat and why some mysterious things keep happening when she’s faced with darkness. It is really cool.
This is book seven in the Kat Drummond Series and I have to say it’s my favorite so far. I loved Dead World! It was a fast paced and dark landscape with only Kat and Treth and the dead. Or so it seems…
You don’t want to miss this installment it’s heartbreaking, inspirational, deadly and strangly intimate with life altering revelations and decisions that will permanently alter Kat and Treth’s relationship forever. Definitely start this series if you haven’t. And if you have this one is… A Must Read!!! The Katverse is not to be denied.
Another awesome Kat Drummond book with lots of action and character development.
Just as Kat scores big in book 6, a rift opens and pulls her into Treth’s world. As she explores Treth’s empty world, we get to learn more about Treth and his feelings for Kat. Along the way she naturally kills monsters and towards the end, LOTS of zombies, helping save what’s left of a village. After the big battle, we are introduced to the ghost of Treth’s mentor who says there’s a possible way to restore Treth to his body.
Quote “When faced with world-shattering change, try to remain calm and positive. If nothing else, that optimism is all you have left.”
“How do you console someone who has lost their world?”
Well written. Excellent and gripping storyline. Makes to think ahead trying to workout what happens next. Many surprises. Great characters.
Dead World is the seventh book in the Kat Drummond series. As readers will know, Kat was caught-up in a Rift and, in this book, she is “dropped” into a new world. It appears that Kat is pretty much alone in this world, except for Treth. Speaking of Treth, we learn much more about him in this story and the connection between he and Kat. Of course, the world isn’t as “dead” as it first seems and Kat gets to do what she does best and more. Saying too much more could lead to spoilers, so I will just say that that was possibly my favorite book so far and, as usual, I’m looking forward to reading the next one as soon as possible!
A great story to learn about Tretch.
This book is a different that the others as we get to learn more about Treth and his past. Kat gets caught in a rift and landed in a dead world. She doesn’t have her friends and is alone. There are zombies and ghostly figures so she decides to kill monsters since that what she knows. She wants to help Treth find a body to get him out of her head but it’s not easy. She will find other humans but will, they help in fighting? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Kat gets sucked into a rift and lands on a dead world. If she’s not careful, she’ll be dead, too. Every creature she encounters is some sort of walking dead. And they all want to make /her/ dead, too. She doesn’t have much in the way of supplies, and has never tried to live off the land. By all rights, she should die of starvation before too long. Thankfully, Trey /has/ lived off the land, and done so on a world with a similar zombie infestation. Together they might just be able to make a new life here.
In this seventh book in the series, Kat Drummond and her live-in ghost, Treth, are pulled through a rift and land in a dead world. Treth helps her navigate this world, his home. From happiness to sadness, we feel his emotions as he finds joy in being home, yet is in turmoil with the destruction that he has found. Though they will have to face devastation, hope will be rediscovered before they are ripped away. Another great read from Woode-Smith. I received a copy of this book for an honest review
First off, that cover is gorgeous! I love how it captures the otherworld feel of this book because yes, if you read book 6 you know that Kat was pulled through a rift at the end and Dead World tells the story of where she ended up.
This book is very different from the previous books in the series, just Kat and Treth trying to survive alone. That said, it still has all the depth and emotion and action and excitement you’ve come to expect from this series. A couple scenes were really hard hitting in the feels. The signature humor was still there too though. What was learned on this dead world helped to round out other aspects of the larger story and provide background.
This is book 7 in a series that somehow just keeps getting better. It contains a full story arc, but does build on information from previous books. This series progresses chronologically and if you haven’t read the previous books yet I have no idea what you are waiting for!
“When faced with world-shattering change, try to remain calm and positive. If nothing else, that optimism is all you have left.”
“Through Light, we banish the Dark.”
Fighting monsters, saving lives, losing friends, experiencing betrayals, being sucked through rifts and dragged through the In Between..no wonder Kat thinks the Universe hates her. What a horrific life! “I’m glad you’re here with me, Treth.”These words comforted me as well, seeing Kat so alone on an “alien” world was depressing and heartbreaking, with many lump-in-throat moments. Another tearful and at once heart warming story, bringing hope to a people, see their faces illuminate, adds to our own positive thinking, contributing with strength and optimism. The thrilling and nervous anticipation before a battle is so vivid I could feel it in my person. Woode-Smith’s writing is relentless and full of creativeness. There were times I wanted to jump some scenes because of their fierce moments, to not feel the despair, the suffering and the losses of such humble and resilient people, of peasants and survivors turned soldiers. A moment to be proud of, saving what humanity is left on the world.. At the end, I couldn’t contain myself, felt the hurt, the temptation to abandon to one’s fate, to see the futility of an uncertain and frightening future, resign.. That’s how realistically Nicholas writes, with emotion. What a passionate, inspiring and exciting series! I may be a masochist, but, I won’t abandon hope and look forward to reading Silver Brotherhood #8.
I love this series. Each book is well written and edited. The story line flows smoothly. This book is very different from the rest. Kat does things that she has never done before. First, she has to come to terms that she may be the only human on a dead world. Later Treth has to come to terms that it is his planet and no one he knows has survived. At least there are monsters. This is Treth’s story and we learn more about him and his life. He makes some tough decisions. There are other humans and Kat makes some new friends including some dogs. Her willingness to fight for people she doesn’t know is contagious and she saves many. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
This is another great installment in the Kat Drummond series. Kat is dropped from the rift onto a seemingly dead world. Fortunately Treth is still with her, so she is not alone as she may have been. Eventually we find what world she has been dropped on and that it has many of the monsters she is used to fighting. Just when she is resigned to her fate, things change again. I am really looking forward to the next book.
