All the creatures of the night gather in “the Hollows” of Cincinnati, to hide, to prowl, to party… and to feed.
Vampires rule the darkness in a predator-eat-predator world rife with dangers beyond imagining — and it’s Rachel Morgan’s job to keep that world civilized.
A bounty hunter and witch with serious sex appeal and an attitude, she’ll bring ‘em back alive, dead… or undead.
Kim Harrison knows how to ratchet up the tension. This novel kept me hooked from the beginning. Her characters are three-dimensional and have distinct personalities. I read the audiobook, and the narrator (Marguerite Gavin) was easy to listen to. Angel’s adjectives: dark and scary
Another great Kim Harrison read. I’ve yet to read one of her books I disliked.
I’m a big fan of the HOLLOWS series by Kim Harrison (Dawn Cook) and this volume remains my favorite because it sets up many of the plotlines as well as characters that would keep me going with the series for years to come.
Rachel Morgan is the quirky, sexy, redheaded witch who is far too nice for the post-apocalypse magical society that she …
Everything Kim Harrison writes is wonderful. Who doesn’t love a snarky, kickass woman that’s not afraid to get dirt under her fingernails? I read the whole series and not once did I get mad about the endings of each! You can read each as a stand alone, but you will read each book anyway!!! HaHa
This is the first book in one of my all-time favorite urban fantasy series. I wouldn’t start this unless you have time to go through all the books. The way Harrison evolves the characters and makes us hate and then love a few of them is brilliant. The world-building is awesome and expertly done. I feel like it’s a real place sometimes. Lol.
I love her books. Can’t put them down.
Get them now. Get them all!!!
Well written series. Couldn’t put it down.
This storyline is so great. With witches, vampires, demons, pixies and elves what could be better? I can’t believe they haven’t made these books into a tv series!
This is the first book in a series which I thoroughly enjoyed. The author, Kim Harrison (a pen name) outdid herself with these books. Her characters are all individuals and her story line makes you want to read more. worth every minute of your time and the cost of the books. Buy this book. You won’t be disappointed.
I read Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison during the Romanceopolyathon the week of April 8th – 14th. Thanks to the audiobook version of the book I was able to finish it in less than two days. I loved listening to Dead Witch Walking, and I will be reading the rest of the series now after finally finishing the first book. I can’t believe it took me …
A nice novel approach to magic. I really enjoyed the alternate history, and found it a nice balance between world building and character development. The Author does a nice job of giving you a good resolution to the story, while keeping the pins in place for the multi-book story arch. I highly recommend this series in both print and audio!
I love all the Kim Harrison books. The plot lines are riveting, the characters are very well fleshed out and they develop through the fantasy series.
Love this series!
The earlier book was quite entertaining. However, this one tends to go off the deep end with nonstop “magic” that makes the story less enjoyable and more “My magic is better than your magic. No, it’s not! Yes, it is!” The earlier “magic” was enjoyable and understandable. This gets just plain idiotic.
Kim Harrison’s Hollows Series is one of my all time favorites. Her main character is easy to relate to, a little goofy, a little tough, and is always getting into trouble. What makes this series so great though is the detail Ms. Harrison has given to her world. I love the premise of a post-tragedy future that brings supernaturals into the open. …
This is the start of an AMAZING series with well crafted characters; masterfully set scenes & world; story is so well told you become immersed in it and become personally invested in the characters and their wants & desires!
You will meet Rachel and the other characters & you WILL at least fall “in like” with one or more of them! The story is …
