Psychic Sookie Stackhouse has her hands full with an amnesiac vampire in the fourth seductive novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series—the inspiration for the HBO® original series True Blood. When cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse sees a naked man on the side of the road, she doesn’t just drive on by. Turns out the poor thing hasn’t a clue who he is, but Sookie does. It’s the vampire … is, but Sookie does. It’s the vampire Eric Northman—but now he’s a kinder, gentler Eric. And a scared Eric, because whoever took his memory now wants his life.
Sookie’s investigation into why leads straight into a dangerous battle among witches, vampires, and werewolves. But a greater danger could be to Sookie’s heart—because the kinder, gentler Eric is very difficult to resist…

While finally getting around to rewatch the True Blood series, and since I’m walking daily now, I downloaded the audiobook and I’m looking forward to re-experiencing one of my all-time favorite series. Start at the beginning, but this one is absolutely one of my faves in the series.
“In “Dead to the World” (book 4), one night after work Sookie drives home to find Eric running down the side of the road in nothing but pants with no idea who he is. Sookie helps him out by letting him stay with her and informing her other friends about the witch who did this to him … since the witch wants more then Eric for his body …… This story is mostly about the budding relationship of Eric and Sookie, which is why I give it 5 out of 5 stars!!”

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and in this case, it certainly does. It has been a little while since last I read the Sookie series and the last one was a bit annoying and obvious that I remember. So after a break, it is fresh new and shiny once more!
Interestingly, I expect, by the time I get to no. 6, I will be a bit bored again, though?
Anyway, a good read, humour, sexy and enough twists and turns to make a river flow!
The background first, Sookie is a mind reader, and the locals in her town in deep down Louisiana consider her a freak. But the supernatural creatures out there get on well with her, from her Vampire ex Bill to the shifters and even some of the witches.
It has been three years since the great revelation. Where the vampires came out of the closet and announced themselves to the world. And Sookie is now a part of their world.
Eric Northman, the Vampire Sheriff of Louisiana, has lost in his memory after an argument with a witches coven. The coven is now hunting him, so Sookie is roped in to look after him until the situation is resolved.
Then her hound dog brother goes missing also after spending some horizontal time with a girl from the weird local village.
Can Sookie unravel what is going on, get her brother back and protect Eric? Well, let’s see on that score.
This is a good, fun read, Sookie as always, is clueless and sweet, and my fave is back, Bubba!
Gotta love Bubba. He is the King, after all!
Okay, not much development as usual, but the plot is fun, and it is an excellent easy, relaxing read.
Favorite vampire series ever
In my typical fashion, I’m late to the party. However, I’ve fallen in love with the Sookie Stackhouse series and this book takes the cake. While I was leery about the amnesia aspect, this is a book I want to read again and again. Sookie’s dry-wit and inner monologue make this series, and seeing a vulnerable Eric warmed my heart.
If you’re into vampires and shape shifters, my guess is that you’ve already read this book, but if you haven’t you should give this series a read.
Another gem in this series. I love the clever way Charlaine writes. There is never a dull moment and just can’t seem to read fast enough. It’s one of those you can’t put down and don’t stop until The End!!
Dead to the World is my favorite Sookie Stackhouse book so far. I feel this book made a definite shift in Sookie’s love life but also her attitude. She is realizing she is tired of being the center of drama and fights. She is beginning to grow a backbone and is more willing to stand up for what she desserves. I really like Eric and Alcede. I am very interested to see where her relationship with both go forward. I am eager to start book 5!
Read them all, they are to die for!
The whole Soookie Stackhouse series is a blast to read. Get it! GET it! GET IT!
Dead to the World is packed full of adventure, mystery, scheming, and smexy parts. Sookie once again becomes wrapped up in supernatural events due to her good nature and protectiveness. The characters are fun and entertaining. The villains really are villains that the reader dislikes.
You can never go wrong with Charlaine Harris
A friend and my oldest sister gave me Charlaine Harris, Sookie Stackhouse Series and I binge read them one after the other. They were fun to read and my friends and sister compared what we liked about the series.
I read this 1/2006
I actually listened to it but the story moved along at a good pace and the main character was well-developed. It was entertaining without needing too much thought.
It’s a Sookie Stackhouse book–what more is there to say?
