Dead. Not Gone. Definitely not silent. My name is Everly, and I’m haunted by the dead. Or maybe hunted is a better word since it seems the dead want to make me one of them. Luckily, I have Shadow on my side, the formidable, powerful being who’s been with me since the start of all the madness. He never speaks. But I know he’s my protector, slaying the demons that get too close and saving me from … close and saving me from whatever seeks to harm me, even myself. I just want a normal life. But I’m not normal. And nothing is as it seems. Not even Shadow. He’s so much more than I imagined.
My fear and destiny collide to bring me to the doorstep of a place I never dreamed possible. I won’t be alone. Shadow will be there. And so will they. The dead. Because I’m never alone.
Dead Silence is book one in The Everlasting Chronicles. Reader Discretion advised due to dark subject matter.

This story is about a girl who can’t tell the difference between reality or what’s in her mind. A supernatural/psychological thriller. She’s losing it, and she’s not sure she can trust the world around her. There are things in the shadows trying to get her, voices in her head. She hears them, she sees them, she can’t sleep. Is death preferable? Can anyone save her? What about the Shadow man? Does he want to help her? I went into this book not really sure what to expect. From the cover, you can kind of tell it was gonna be somewhat of a suspense/thriller. But I definitely didn’t expect what jumped off the pages. It’s an edge-of-the-seat, nail-biting, gripping, thrilling, blood chilling story that keeps you guessing. You’re gonna love it. I did.
Absolutely loved this book. So many exciting moments and I was engrossed from start to finish. Couldn’t put it down. I simply must have the next in the series. Addicted to this series without a doubt.
Everly is going crazy just like her dad. From the time she was a little girl either her dad would hurt her or demons would attack her in her sleep. But a dark being she named Shadow would protect her. After being run over by a car at seventeen and essentially dying, Shadow saves her, but now even more she sees demons and dead people and they threaten her. She starts drinking and taking drugs, tries killing herself, but she is always saved. Then she meets someone who says she is a Special, but what is a special?
This is the beginning of the series. It explains what is happening to Everly during her journey to discover why the dead are talking to her and deciding if the mysterious Shadow is friend or foe. I thought the book was an interesting concept and enjoyed the story. I would recommend it.

I don’ read many of these books, but I did enjoy this one. Thank you.
This book draws you in and keeps you interested. It does not bog down. A good sci-fi book.
Very interesting concept. Makes you want to read the next book.
I truly enjoyed reading this story. I thought it was well written and good storyline. I look forward to reading the next book.
This was an amazing start to The Everlasting Chronicles. Ever is an amazing heroine. She has gone through so much in her life and we learn that this is only the beginning for her. She sees things that others do not and is scared and confused by it. Dylan is different. I usually don’t like guys like him and I don’t like his actions, but there is something there that says he acts one way, but feels another. I am so interested to learn more about Shadow. He definitely has a story to tell. One of the things I loved most is that I don’t have a clue who is really bad and who is good, especially in relation to the “doctor” and “special” students Can’t wait to learn more!
This is a dark in your head mental read. You are along with Everly as she tries to hold herself together as everyone around her watches her appear to lose her mind and her life. This felt like an opening book for the series as you are left feeling like there is way too much you still need to know.
Oh man. My heart just hurt for Everly. It’s hard enough dealing with live people but hearing and seeing the dead and others is a lot to handle. To also not have anyone who understands or help support you, just makes it worse. I would love to know more about Shadow so I’m jumping into book 2.
In the last few years I read very few books that can be considered YA, basically nothing where the characters are still in their teens, but the blurb of this book drew me to Ever’s story. This is not for the faint of heart, and people should beware of trigger warnings. That said, I devoured it once I started reading. Ever is a well developed complicated character with wounds that run deep even in her short life. Confused about changes and her unexplainable childhood with an abusing father and creatures she thought were only her overactive imagination. She’s sassy, snarky, and independent. It pained me to see her reach her breaking point before finding out about who exactly she is, and even that brought more questions than answers. Who is after her? Who is her protector and saviour? A great first book to set up a series.

Dead Silence is a well written, intriguing story and a great start to the series. Everly’s story had me captivated from the first page until the last and I am definitely going to read book two next.
This is the first time I have ever read anything by this author K.G. Reuss. I am so glad I did I love reading books about people who can see dead people. This is a wonderful start to a new series and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This is the first novel I have read by this author and the first in the Everlasting Chronicles Series. I’ve always been attracted to paranormal stories, especially where there is someone who is a Medium, able to see and communicate with the dead and I wasn’t disappointed by this book with a twist.
It is the story of Everly Torres, a high school girl who had a very rough childhood. Due to this, she’s very close to her mother. She has one close girlfriend and a douche (the author’s word, not mine!) of an ex-boyfriend. And she can hear and see things others don’t. They are getting louder, more threatening. Then all hell broke loose (not literally.)
I cannot wait to read Book 2!

Everly is plagued by the ghosts of the dead and haunted by their whispering voices. So much so that it’s driving her crazy. She almost died twice, once by suicide, and each time she was saved by a shadow from her childhood. A shadow that protected her from the demons that terrorized her. This book is the start of Everly’s supernatural journey. A very intriguing beginning.

Seventeen-year-old Everly (Ever to her friends) has had a very rough childhood with her alcoholic abusive father and the voices in the dark. The scary creatures of the night and the Shadow first arrived when she was a child and now they seem to be coming around more since her near-death experience and they are definitely not friendly.
This book is absolutely intense in a very good way. There are elements of horror and suspense with a mix of dark fantasy and supernatural. This is the first book in what appears to be a series so it ends in a cliffhanger, but that is okay because I know I want to read the second book to see what happens next.

Dead Silence is a truly dark YA coming of age novel. This is a story about a teenager named Everly, Ever to her friends. Everly hasn’t had an easy childhood. She and her mother went through hell because of her dad, and finally, he was arrested and made to leave. But Everly will never forget what he did…when he took her and shoved her into a closet screaming that they could have her. That she was a curse to be gotten rid of. She hasn’t seen the Shadow with the burning red eyes for a few years now, but something is coming…and he’s back. Everly’s life begins to spiral out of control. She’s seeing and hearing the dead. They won’t let her be. They scream whisper and harass her. There is no peace for Everly. One night, while at a party Everly is taking her ex-boyfriend home, but things devolve quickly and Everly is hurt badly in an accident. At that moment, after the accident, that’s when everything changes for Everly, and the dead refuse to be ignored. Everly is seeing the dead. They are demanding that she pay attention to them, help them…let them in. They whisper about things that she doesn’t understand. Nobody can see or hear them but her, and so it makes her look crazy. Shadow is there, the dead whisper of him, but what they say doesn’t make sense.
Dead Silence is NOT for those who are sensitive to certain subjects. Everly starts off as a normal teenage girl. She’s unhappy about catching her boyfriend cheating on her. She’s done with him, but he wants her back. She’s hurt behind the break-up, but she’s determined to move forward. Too bad Dylan, her ex, isn’t. He says he’s sorry, but boy is he quick to jump to the next chick and of course several are more than eager to throw themselves at him. I like how the author captures the teenage/high school element without going overboard. Typically with most authors, they throw in lots of snarky attitude, bad behavior and really take it over the top. I appreciate how the author has more of a balance with this book. Normally, when there are underage drinking and inappropriate behavior I am disgusted and disappointed, but I managed to handle it better with this book. Weird, I know, but true. I think it is the tasteful way that the author handles it all. Everly attempts to be just a normal teen, but with the way that things are devolving she’s losing that battle.
I will say that there are a couple editorial errors in this book, but nothing so major that it will detract from the overall story. I couldn’t believe how engaged in the story I became. I had nothing but empathy for Everly. She was battling things that nobody else could see or hear. The dead were twisting things so that she looked unstable.
As this is the first book in the series, this story really sets the groundwork. I think this is what appealed to me the most. We see the hell that Everly goes through as she struggles with this…”gift” though it’s more of a curse. You will get to see her be broken down to the very brink and topple over the edge. This book is not one that I would recommend to those who walk that edge. It is truly dark, but thanks to Shadow, Everly is given another chance.
I truly enjoyed reading this book. It is dark, has quite a bit of creep factor and is thoroughly engaging. I loved it. I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you have an issue with underage drinking, dark elements, and other similar themes, I suggest you pass on this book. But if you can handle it, and are one who embraces the darker side with just the right balance, then this is a book to check out. I am eagerly looking forward to the next book in this series. Also, this book is based on a true story…excited yet? Come on in.
It was spell binding from the get go. Everly is just a normal high school girl with normal high school girl problems, or so she thinks. She sees things in the dark that she chalks up to an over active imagination. Her father was crazy as a loon and her mother got her out of there. She has a horrible accident that changes her life. Now she is seeing and hearing things and knows now she didn’t imagine them. This is an incredible journey and I can’t wait for the next book.
