This is the book that started it all. It starts with action and easily kept my interest throughout. I loved seeing the meet ups of Tyrell and Cody and others(I have read all the other books before this one). I still enjoyed it other than at times it’s wordy. The flow is nice and of course I love these characters. I could really see the relationship built between Jake and these others.
Overall I am glad I finally read this. It’s a bit long but still a good lead off.
This is definitely one of those books that you have to pay attention. It has a very in depth storyline and if you aren’t paying attention, you might miss something important. I love that this gave me more than just thrill. It gave me emotion with the storyline that made you grow closer to the characters. I’d suggest it.
This was my first book by Mark Nolan. It gripped me right away and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Always remember, there are secrets! Will definitely recommended to other readers!
Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie: A Gripping Thriller (Jake Wolfe Book 1) by Mark Nolan – Review by Gail Guerrero
Four Stars
I love a good murder mystery. The blood gets boiling and kind races. You never know what you will be hit with next. Jake was an interesting character. He was lazy with a weird sense of justice. He never does anything by the book. He is quick on his feet when there is trouble. I really like how the author made him feel more realistic. He wasn’t this smoking hot guy with all this charm and killer skill. He felt like a regular guy who just knew what he was good at and thrived in dangerous situations. There were some moments that I was like meh next but over all not a bad read.
It has been a while since i have a read a good thriller that had me hooked from the start, There is so much suspense and mystery that will keep you guessing throughout. Such a good plot line. Retired Vet Jake is being targeted by a serial killer, can he escape the clutches of the psychopath? there’s so many twists and turns you wont want to put the book down. A very well written book and cant wait to start book two.
Dead Lawyers Don’t lie by Mark Nolan is book one of the Jake Wolfe series. If you like suspense, this book is for you! This book really hooked me on the whole series because nothing is as you’d expect it to be. I couldn’t put it down.
This book is suspenseful with major plot twists I didn’t see coming. Jake wants to leave his flawed past behind him but even he can’t ignore what he needs to do this time. How far will Jake have to go to protect the people he cares about when he accidentally stumbles upon the identity of a murderer?

I am reading this series totally out of order and was really excited to finally come back to book 1 and see where this all began. I know that I had become completely invested in this series in later books so had no fear about reading this one.
This one was a bit long. I love when I can sit down and read a book in one sitting, possibly two, this one took me a bit longer. There were so many moving parts and little additions to the storyline that popped up all the way through, I had to reread a few things and stop and try to figure things out along the way. There was A LOT of extra descriptions and information that I would skip over as I didnt need these for the story.
In saying all of that, this is one of my favorite genres, and this book had everything I would expect from a book in this genre and then some. The evil was really evil, the suspense was edge of my seat, the secondary characters were amazing and then add in Cody and it was a done deal, I was hooked.
This book I do feel was needed in my reading of this series. I so far have loved the later books, and seeing how this series and the writing of this series has progressed is really great.
On to the next 🙂
Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie by Mark Nolan a five-star thriller. This was a great start to the series and shows us what a great story is to come, there are parts that will have your brain itching with clues, but they are just you’re of reach, I feel like the more I read the more clues I will find and the more I will understand. This takes you to the extreme, it really has the most villainous villain I have ever come across. There has to be a special mention to Cody, who will always have a special place in my heart and no doubt the heart of mystery.
I loved this book. It has everything i love. It is full of mystery and crime. The characters are well written and you can’t help but feel like you are there with them.
Jake is a retired war veteran and along with his dog they just want a quiet life. They have both served their country and now they want to leave their violent past behind them.
That is until a killer arrives calling himself The Artist arrives. Jake accidently gets himself on the killers hit list after he takes a photograph of the killer without realising it. Now its a race against time for Jake and his law enforcement friends to capture The Artist before he strikes again and before he makes Jake one of his victims.
This book is filled to the brim with suspense and mystery in what will leave you breathless. I think the action will keep you excited to read these pages. The storyline flowed smoothly as the characters’ dialogues made it easier to get entranced into this book.
This novel kicks off a new Jake Wolfe series from Mark Nolan. I loved how this book literally hits you in the face with action from the very beginning and keeps you on the edge of your seat until that very last chapter. I felt like I got so much with this novel and I am super excited that there will be more to come in the series with these characters.
This starts off with Jake Wolfe, a military vet who is working as a photojournalist in the prime of his days. At the moment he is following a hot lead on a story that will thrust him into the life of a high ranking lawyer. His goal is to simply dig up some details for his story and instead witnesses the lawyers murder! From there the ride is wild and full of twists and turns that are completely unpredictable. I can’t wait to get my hands on book two!

Poor Jake Wolfe. In Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie , by Mark Nolan, it all starts with Jake just being in the wrong place at the right time. Mark Nolan writes an excellent thriller, with nonstop action. He gives us great characters that are fully fleshed out and you can’t help becoming attached to them. This is a great cat and mouse story that gives and gives especially if you like an action-packed ride, excitement, dogs and even a little romance to spice things up a little. If you can’t tell by now, I am a mark Nolan fan.
Mark Nolan is a mastermind. Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie kept me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. There were many times when I had to grip my pillow because I was nervous about what was coming around the corner. The storyline is gripping. It held my attention from the first paragraph until the last word. The characters are fully developed and complex. Throughout the story, there is a roller coaster ride that keeps the story moving. “The Artist” had decided to assassinate wealthy lawyers. He has put Jake Wolfe on his sites because of a photo. Jake decides to take the chase to The Artist. Can Jake keep his loved one safe? Will Jake find “The Artist” before his loved ones get hurt? I highly recommend this story. I will warn that you may not be able to put the book down once you start reading it.
Wow what a great start to the series and the introduction of Jake was great. Following Jake on his journey to find the truth I was suprised at every turn wanting to know more with each page. The emotions you go through with Jake and Cody are immense.

Jake is a war veteran and is in San Francisco when he takes a picture but does not realised that he may have photographed a killer. As Jake then realises he has placed himself in the middle of this serial killers sights and will he be next on the hit list.
I really enjoyed the twists and turns within the story and that it was constructed really well. The characters are brilliant and enhance the story as it weaves through the world of “The Artist”, with the story exploring Jake’s past it lets you into the experiences which has made this man who he is today.

This is the first book in the Jake Wolfe series. This story takes place in San Francisco and is about a killer who goes by the name of The Artist and is killing rich lawyers. Jake, a photojournalist, accidentally takes a photo of said killer and has landed himself on The Artist’s hit list. Jake and Terrell, a police officer, served together overseas. There was a lot of research done in respect to the military and war dogs. It is a long read, but worth every page. This is a gripping mystery and will keep you on the edge of your seat.
