Anita Blake has the highest kill count of any vampire executioner in the country. She’s a U.S. Marshal who can raise zombies with the best of them. But ever since she and master vampire Jean-Claude went public with their engagement, all she is to anyone and everyone is Jean-Claude’s fiancée.It’s wreaking havoc with her reputation as a hard ass—to some extent. Luckily, in professional circles, … circles, she’s still the go-to expert for zombie issues. And right now, the FBI is having one hell of a zombie issue.
Someone is producing zombie porn. Anita has seen her share of freaky undead fetishes, so this shouldn’t bother her. But the women being victimized aren’t just mindless, rotting corpses. Their souls are trapped behind their eyes, signaling voodoo of the blackest kind.
It’s the sort of case that can leave a mark on a person. And Anita’s own soul may not survive unscathed . . .

Meh
All about Anita’s personal issues or, more likely, Laurel Hamilton’s. The first 8 or 9 books of this urban fantasy series were the best I’d ever read; after that, they were just self-indulgence.
I love this book. I love all of her books. I have all of this series so far and will keep buying them. If you want a great series to read this is one of them. Enjoy.
I’ve read entire series! They’re always good!
Great! More plot than lately and less sex with fewer people.
The Anita Blake series at this point has shifted to being chiefly about her complicated polyamorous relationships mixed with supernatural politics. They are laced with a perfunctory subplot that includes a case she is working as a US Marshal. At least in this one we see her back to using her necromancer abilities as she investigates a zombie porn case for the FBI. I give it 4 stars because her writing is still very good and maybe I’m still hopeful that she will return to her meaty case driven plots mixed with the character’s relationship subplot.
Recommend the series to friends and family.
The poorest of the Anita Blake books thus far. There was too much going on for it to be a coherent story and would have worked better as two different novels. (This fact did not stop me from reading the next in the series, which was a bit better.)
I stopped reading it after a chapter or so. I was turned off by the repeated graphic sex that didn’t add any value to the story. I know that people have all kinds of sex, but I don’t really want page after page of descriptive narrative. Book just wasn’t for me, maybe it is for you.
Needs less sex and more police procedural. We get it, Anita has her own mail harem. Now spend more time on the story development. The world is fascinating, the sex not so much.
Begin with the first book and work your way through Anita Blake Vampire Hunter’s wild sex filled adventures.
I’ve read almost every book by this Author and I have to say that each one is an eye opening experience and always an enjoyable read.
It was OK
I love the work by this author. I think I have everything she wrote; either hardcopy or soft.
