5 STARS: Fans of Charlaine Harris and Janet Evanovich will enjoy Dead Eye. Alyssa Day has done it again! She’s written a story that’s so much fun to read that you don’t want to put it down. (Reader review)
For Jack Shepherd, tiger shape-shifter and former soldier, life is heading for a dead end. Dead End, Florida, to be exact. When he learns that he inherited a combination pawn shop/private investigation agency from his favorite uncle, Jack’s first job is to solve his uncle’s murder. Because sometimes it takes a tiger’s eye to see the truth.
Tess Callahan, who owns half a pawn shop in the strangest town in Florida, didn’t expect Jack to show up and be so very enticing. And exciting. And annoyingly over-protective. But when yet another dead body shows up on her doorstep, it’s time to take action. And if she has to team up with a sexy tiger shape-shifter to do it, well, that’s just a bonus.
Welcome to Dead End, Florida, where Bigfoot keeps a winter home. And welcome to the Tiger’s Eye Mysteries!
This novel is a paranormal mystery with magic, shape shifters, humor, vampires, a taxidermied alligator, witches, gunshots, bad singing, Crazy Hormonal Town, terrible parking, the FBI, swamp commandos, tigers, special agents, flirting, belly laughs, comedy, humor, and a pawn shop.
WARNING: Dangerous book!! Beware of I laughed so hard I almost peed a little* and I fell out of bed laughing.

All good fun
Tess Callahan has inherited the pawn shop in Dead End, Florida, where she’s worked since she was a teenager, after Jeremiah, the owner’s death. She has part ownership along with the owner’s nephew, Jack Sheperd, who is a former soldier and tiger shapeshifter. Jack shows up in Dead End, and learns that his uncle was murdered, then a local woman is also murdered and dumped at the pawnshop’s backdoor, just like Jeremiah. Once Tess and Jack begin to investigate the murders, they get even deeper into the strange doings around Dead End, and into more danger. I really liked Tess and her quirky family, as well as the devilishly handsome Jack who changes into his tiger and sleeps on the floor so that Tess is protected and safe at night. I think they work really well together and look forward to more Tiger’s Eye Investigations.
I just want Tess and Jack to have more “romance.” I read all three books and they are just planning their first date.
Really enjoyed reading this book. Includes great humor, some good belly laughs.
This was a fun read. Not taxing, just pleasant. Characters believable and not trite. And the tiger stirs!
I do like the book. The characters are interesting. The plot is pretty unique. I mean, evil trying to win over good, not so much, but the personification of the evil and good is unique. My only complaint, really, is that the Everglades is over 3 hours from Orlando, but the book keeps putting them within like an hour from each other. I get literary license, I really truly do, but it just bugs me every time.
This book definitely reminded me of the Sookie Stackhouse series. There were lots of laugh out loud moments. Very entertaining
This was a delightful romp through a new reality. Looking forward to more!
Fun, light and easy.
Wow a great read. Entertaining, intense moments. Loved it!
Light hearted paranormal entertainment, fast to read and fun to read. While tragedy occurs the story does not go down s deep dark hole and has the right character tension to keep you turning pages.
Some unusual characters made this interesting
I enjoyed the interesting and quirky characters and the world they inhabit, enough to decide to read more in the series (and others by the author). pretty well written. Should be a hit with fans of Sookie Stackhouse and True Blood.
What a great way to escape reality!
Funny and entertaining
Great world building and loveable characters.
I read this because all the reviews showed it was LOL funny, page turner. Well I’m not sure we read the same book. It was entertaining but predictable. I figured it out half way through, and laughing. I found nothing funny.
But give it a shot.
Loved the book kept me on the edge of my chair while reading it.
Best book I have read in awhile. Cannot wait for the latest installment.
Good story but a little boring.
