5 STARS: Fans of Charlaine Harris and Janet Evanovich will enjoy Dead Eye. Alyssa Day has done it again! She’s written a story that’s so much fun to read that you don’t want to put it down. (Reader review)
For Jack Shepherd, tiger shape-shifter and former soldier, life is heading for a dead end. Dead End, Florida, to be exact. When he learns that he inherited a combination pawn shop/private investigation agency from his favorite uncle, Jack’s first job is to solve his uncle’s murder. Because sometimes it takes a tiger’s eye to see the truth.
Tess Callahan, who owns half a pawn shop in the strangest town in Florida, didn’t expect Jack to show up and be so very enticing. And exciting. And annoyingly over-protective. But when yet another dead body shows up on her doorstep, it’s time to take action. And if she has to team up with a sexy tiger shape-shifter to do it, well, that’s just a bonus.
Welcome to Dead End, Florida, where Bigfoot keeps a winter home. And welcome to the Tiger’s Eye Mysteries!
This novel is a paranormal mystery with magic, shape shifters, humor, vampires, a taxidermied alligator, witches, gunshots, bad singing, Crazy Hormonal Town, terrible parking, the FBI, swamp commandos, tigers, special agents, flirting, belly laughs, comedy, humor, and a pawn shop.
WARNING: Dangerous book!! Beware of I laughed so hard I almost peed a little* and I fell out of bed laughing.

Really cute story
a fun read for a gloomy winter day!
Fun read. Kept my interest.
I did enjoy it but it was a little unbelievable but I liked it and will read more
I have read a lot of “cozy” mysteries lately… the formula is just too obvious: single woman (usually young, most often red haired) is self-employed (usually owns a shop of some sort… florist, bakery etc.) and gets involved with murder and mayhem. The books are almost always written in first-person, probably to make it all seem so real and force you to identify with the heroine (even if you are not young, red-headed, or independently employed). The book titles are usually Punny or Cutesy, expect to smile. Been there, read that, avoided the t-shirt.
So here’s Tess, a red-headed shop owner, already making jokes on the first page. Yup, it’s in first-person. But hold on… it’s a Pawn Shop. And there are shape-shifters and witches and vampires and i got drawn in. Yes, and i loved it. I will probably even read another in the series. Thank you for restoring my light reading, Ms. Day!
Loved it. Couldn’t put it down. Stayed up late to finish it
I’ve read a lot of shapeshifter, paranormal talent books and this one was great: the characters got me involved in their stories, the “talents” were different than those I normally find in books……who knew banshees could kill from afar!!
If you are looking for a funny, entertaining, and totally unusual and unpredictable tale of paranormal characters, then this is the book and series for you. The laughs just kept coming and the spooky elements just added to it. The ending was really good and will leave you wanting more. Fortunately, there are more books to this series. Lucky us.
A nice read. Kind of like popcorn, satisfying without being terribly heavy or dark like so many fantasy settings are. The characters need a little work. The lead male is very masculine, has apparently little in the way of emotions beyond amusement, lust and determination. Out female lead spends a lot of time dithering about him, and comes off sounding like a teenager. Still, I think the series could grow on me.
Good book with light supernatural elements. Happy ending
Especially fun to read. Well written and edited, with entertaining characters and story. Definitely recommend!
I am loving this series, got the first one free and immediately ordered the next two!
A fun relaxing read.
A great book with lots of action, mystery, murder, mayhem, and of course romance. A population of humans and paranormals live in the town of Dead Eye in Florida. Tess, along with her tiger shifter friend Dave, tries to solve two murders that ended up at her back door. Can they find the one(s) responsible before it is too late? Read the book to find out.
The book is different, fast paced, funny an surprisingly tricky.
A fresh take on the common tropes of the supernatural.
A very written book likeable characters, funny and a page turner couldn’t put it down stayed up to finish
Fantastic plot and a great story. Lots of strange twists and turns , murder, mystery, mayhem, danger, drama, black Magic, an evil witch, a crooked sherrif, hero tiger shifter, his partner, and an innocent little girl. Can they solve the mystery and save the little girl before it is to late?
I first met Jack Shepherd during the Warriors of Poseidon series and I was very intrigued with him, so I was looking forward to the release of Dead Eye and the beginning of the Tiger’s Eye Mysteries. I just knew that I would love this new series because of how much I loved all the books in the Warriors of Poseidon series and guess what? I am not disappointed, it is quite different but just as enjoyable and I was completely caught up in the suspense and the quirky town that Alyssa Day created. It is full of zany characters with some eccentric traits which adds some laughs and an overall sense of wonder which of curious spiked my curiosity along with building the suspense of who done it. All the characters are strong and easily related to which makes it easy for readers to become caught up in the happenings and ensures that they want to keep reading as well as ensuring that they continue to want to visit the town of Dead Eye. Also, the tension building mystery keeps readers on the edge of their seat with danger and thrills and it has a hint of romance just to spice things up, oh and I mustn’t forget that there was quite a few surprises in store for Jack as he discovers his inheritance which kept me on my toes as well.
Alyssa Day first came to my attention with her Warriors series and I am looking forward to continuing to enjoy her fabulously creative mind with the Tiger’s Eye Mysteries.
