When I first started reading this book, it was a little difficult to keep all the characters straight. Also, it started out too confusing and slow to move along. It had tough subjects to read about: rape, grief, divorce, marriage, and death. However, I continued to read because I had read all of Ms. Girard’s series with Schwartzman and …
I loved reading Danielle Girard’s angle on the Hall of Justice, since we both write about it. A nuanced storyteller, she brings the setting and her characters together brilliantly. In Dead Center, she challenges the reader to solve the crime, and masterfully delivers. Recommend.
This was an excellent book -great characters and a real page turner
Very good action thriller
I liked the characters, and the story was well paced. There were enough twists and turns to keep me interested. On the down side, there were a lot of police characters of various rank and departments. I found it hard to keep track of them all and to remember what exactly their roles were. The story involves a serial rapist who is targeting female …
I had a hard time putting it down. Something was always going on that makes you want to keep reading
This book kept you guessing, to the end.
I enjoyed reading this book It definitely was a page turner
The book is good, well-written with characters that are real. But how could a book about cops in San Francisco not have one LGBTQ cop?
I enjoyed this book. Characters were a good type of dysfunctional, and the story moved along nicely. Was refreshing to have a story with normal, non-perfect people instead of everyone being rich and perfect. Will look forward to reading more by this author.
It was a good read. The cast was a bit of a stretch. How many police departments have that many officers who are exceptional in their field, women, and gorgeous? The plot was extra twisty and kept the reader on his toes. I recommend this one.
Not a particularly good police procedural. Too many characters with their family ties, outside relatioships, friendships, etc. made it hard to keep track of the plot. At first I thought there was a main character, but then, no. The storyline rambled, little clue building, a lot from left field. If you like stories about female cops—albeit …
Couldn’t get past first couple of chapters. She’s too wimpy. Kept adding more and more plot lines each time a character was mentioned.
Is this a rift on “The Murder Club” by Patterson?
Great read from start to finish!
Well written. Action scenes kept me captivated as to the fear felt by the rape victims and the insidiousness of the perpetrator who is evil personified. A little difficult to keep all the characters straight but one heck of a read.
Kind of tough, but pretty good.
