This is the first book of a trilogy. Ms Harris creates a town that I would love to visit. The characters are engaging and I got hooked almost immediately. This series has been televised. Books are better. Definitely worth reading just for the characters. Slightly scary.
This is the sequel and just as good as the first one.
I really like reading Charlaine Harris, I think I have read all of her books and basically her series. This book has a quirky premise centering around a group of people living in a crossroads town in Texas. I really liked it.
I like all of Charlaine Harris’ s books. They are clever and amusing, with just enough mystery and action to keep me turning the pages well in to the night.
I really enjoy the quirky town of Midnight and it’s unusual inhabitants. Manfred Bernardo goes out of town to do some personal psychic readings and a long time customer dies while in the middle of the visit. She has a son that is mentally unstable, and he accuses Manfred of stealing the jewelry that she told Manfred she had hidden from her son. While the police investigate, Olivia decides to help Manfred prove his innocence, which turns into much more of an undertaking than anticipated. Meanwhile, other activities of interest are happening around town, which give all the residents plenty to discuss and deal with, including the renovation and reopening of the hotel, which means new people coming to town. The characters are endearing and the happenings in town and the way they handle them are particularly interesting. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see what happens next.
Loved Sookie, love this bunch in Midnight, TX. Day Shift is second in trilogy. Meet an old friend of Sookie’s, have some questions answered.
Love the worlds built by Ms. Harris. Her created world flows, not awkward or hard to believe. All these characters are weird and flawed, but you get to like them.
Day Shift is a good continuation of Midnight Crossroad, and I will hate to see the series end.
Charlaine Harris never fails.
I enjoyed the second installment in the new series—especially since we reconnect with some of the characters from the Sookie Stackhouse series. Not set at a fast pace, but a slower build– which allows one to digest all the characters in play.
Great story with some characters from the Sookie Stackhouse world intersecting in Midnight, Texas.
I love the Midnight, Texas books. Great characters, interesting setting, and an unusual story. I really hope Ms. Harris continues this series.
Loved this book!
One of the better books I have read in a long time.
I’m enjoying this series set in Midnight, TX even more than I did her series with vampires and Sookie. Keep writing, Charlaine!
A short arc by Harris, but excellent none the less. Interesting characters interact with each other. Good reading.
I love the Midnight series. I understand Ms Harris doesn’t plan any additions, but she really should great story lines and characters. There is so much more to learn about each of the characters.
I love how Harris has evolved as an author.
Great book continuing the story of Midnight Texas and all its supernatural residents. I loved it.
I was obsessed with all the true blood books so I enjoyed seeing a few characters from that series in this book. However, it moved slowly and I was discouraged in buying the third book of the series by its cost.
I read it three times! the entire series is great. Wonderful characters and great premise
Just really like all the characters, third book in series I’ve read. Hope to continue with the town of Midnight.
