My thoughts of how I’m going to survive this indefinite amount of time alone are interrupted by a notification from my Tinder app.
Yes, we’re on quarantine. Yes, I reactivated my account out of pure boredom. And, yes, Drew’s one profile photo is smoking hot.
I hit Reply.

Sharee and Drew are in quarantine right along side us and I would of never thought a story like this could be be a laugh out loud romantic comedy but this author has knocked it out of the park. There are so many relatable moments that I personally have done and thought myself during this time at home. Seeing the steps Drew takes to spend time with Sharee and yet stay within a safe distance is swoon worthy. Their story is a non stop page turner and gives us hope that even though we’re living in a time where things are incredible difficult, there’s a light at the end.
Adorably quirky, fun and oh so romantic. Many times I just oohed and Aahed over these two. I loved that it is set in a current time period. I enjoyed the antics the author used to portray flowers and dates. Seriously that first date was adorable. I also enjoyed that little kiss he gave. Oh Oh and let’s not forget that cooking session. I couldn’t stop smiling. Actually that was a struggle throughout the whole story. Smiling, Chuckling and Snickering.
Overall I throughly loved and enjoyed this story. The characters were wonderful and easy to identify with for the most part. Who doesn’t love a story that involves the pandemic and tinder. Anything can happen is the moral of the story.
I loved this book. It’s quick and keeps a smile on your face….total feel good.
Day One is a short, slow burning and sweet story. It was totally relatable, online dating, texting, and social distancing. Drew and Sharee were they best characters, they made me laugh at their one liners, their unconventional dates were romantic, they were just so sweet together. I’m pretty sure I had a goofy smile throughout the whole story. It was so entertaining and enjoyable.
Quarantine Love? Definitely a Slow Burn but worth it!

This was so cute and sweet its giving me the shakes. I loved the entire story from beginning to end. You will swoon over Drew and laugh endlessly over Sharee’s infectious personality. A wonderful story of our real life modern pandemic love story..
5 STARS Lauren Runow
Oh my I absolutely loved this book! I was fortunate to read it day by day, chapter by chapter and it was so welcome. The premise was so relatable! Drew and Sharee meet online through a dating app, but everyone is in lockdown to flatten the curve. This is their story of getting to know one another! @laurarunow
Oh my GOODNESS! How adorable and cute and sweet was this story?! I was smitten and smiling all the way through. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
Sharee & Drew were absolutely delightful and cute and perfect.
Their Tinder hook-up was fun and pretty much the only way they were going to meet during quarantine. Sparks flew between these two, even through texts and phone calls.
Their witty banter, their jokes, their sarcasm…it was exactly what was needed to make this story entertaining and enjoyable.
The dates they created made me swoon, made my heart happy…and also made me frustrated. Because I wanted them to touch. Badly.
But they wouldn’t. They couldn’t.
They couldn’t hold hands.
They couldn’t hug.
They couldn’t KISS.
But they made their little shelter-in-place love work.
This charming romance story was a little slap of today’s real-life situations mixed with a healthy dose of a romantic fairy tale escape that left me smiling from ear to ear.
I knew when all this craziness in the world happened that there would be some quarantine/covid-19/virus books coming out. And I told myself I wasn’t going to read them. Not sure why? Maybe I didn’t want to associate my HEAs and romantic fairy tales to this negative time in the world. But I’m so glad I read this!! Day One was adorably perfect! I highly recommend it!!
Amazingly, wonderful story!
I LOVED this story. Sharee and Drew’s love story started with a response to a Tinder message on a boring day at the beginning of quarantine. It built from there to phone calls and socially distanced dating. So many awww moments. I’ve read this story so many times. It’s definitely in my favorites list.
Day One is a short, stand alone by Lauren Runow. This is my very first book by Lauren and I am in love. This book gets ALL the stars. I didn’t want to stop reading. This is the story of a couple finding each other during the most inopportune of times, during the shelter in place order while the Corona Virus shuts down the world as we know it.
Sharee Witzel is a sixth grade school teacher in a small community near San Francisco. The school where she teaches is shut down and Sharee is learning day by day what her new world looks like, by herself. Out of boredom, she reactivates her Tinder app and surprisingly, there is a message from a very good looking man that instantly intrigues her.
Andrew (Drew) Miller can’t believe she answered his message. As the days pass and they get to know each other, the spark between them grows. They are forced to learn a new way to get acquainted. A way to date quarantine style. And let me tell you that Drew is very, very good at thinking up ways for them to date while keeping a safe distance.
“I think I like you, Drew Miller.”
“Right back at you, kid.”
To say these two were adorable as they got to know each other is an understatement. I think I spent the entire time I read this book grinning from ear to ear. Their dates were perfect. I was falling in love with Drew right along with Sharee.
“The worst time of my life is turning into the best.”
I loved every single thing about this and it is the perfect way to put a happy spin on the trying times we are currently living in. I adored Drew and Sharee. I also loved the way Lauren writes. This book totally has me wanting to scour through all of her other books. If you want a short, sweet, sexy story that will brighten your day and make you look at social distancing in an entire new way, then grab this book. I repeat, GRAB THIS BOOK! In my opinion, for how happy it made me, five stars isn’t nearly enough.
“This is my home, where I belong and where I’ll forever be.”
Lauren took a difficult situation and made it into a treasure for us to cherish. In this time of social distancing, how would a couple manage to meet and fall in love? Seems impossible, right? Nope, not if you find the right guy on line who knows how to romance his girl! Extra points that he’s a famous Pro athlete who also helps take care of his mom. From skyping dinner dates to actual meets, runs, picnics, dinner, you name it, as long as the 6 feet distance was kept in place, these two fell in love in the most unlikely way! Perfect story in an imperfect world! Loved this!! You will too, so don’t wait to grab your “Get out of Quarantine Doldrums” Read!!! FIVE UNMASKED STARS!
I love this book it was a quick little read a lot of laughs and a happy ending
DAY ONE by Lauren Runow is a wonderful novella of a love story during our time in quarantine. No matter who you are, the Coronavirus has changed your life. This is a story of overcoming the obstacles to find love. The author definitely takes the seriousness of the distancing and shelter-in-place. Also covers the danger of people who have health issues and compromised immune system. There are lots of lighthearted moments, and cute ways of “dating” while not being closer than six feet. You also see a couple that gets to know each other, fall in love, before their first kiss. That does not mean that there are not very hot sex scenes. This is written by Lauren Runow after all! My favorite line in the entire book is, “I love you more than toilet paper!”
I know this is a hard time, but people need to realize we’re all in this together. Every single one of us is affected in some way or another.
Drew and Sharee meet on Tinder during the isolation phase of the covid epidemic. This author brings her imagination into this book in a wonderful way by making their dates so thoughtful and creative. These two really get to know each other for weeks before they even get to shake hands, much less kiss. That’s what makes this story so unique and enjoyable. It’s just fun, clever, and awesome! Read this book!!
I read this book over the course of a few weeks as it was serialized on Facebook, and then finished it when it came out as a book, because the epilogue was new. This book is filled with imagination and creativity that is so needed during this time of covid isolation. It brings hope to people who are staying home, and brings some clever writing to those who enjoy a good story. The epilogue is a joyful delight!!
With nothing better to do while a pandemic is happening around you and you are not allowed to leave your house, Sharee decides she is tired of being alone and swipes right on her online app. What begins as a way to pass the time through messages ends up being so much more when Drew becomes someone she looks forward to each and every day. Can two people fall in love with no intimacy involved? Will the time during the pandemic be the best time to have a HEA? I loved this story from the opening pages. Some of the honest feelings that both Drew and Sharee display are some that are actually happening across the globe. The saying making lemonade out of lemons certainly wraps up the storyline. When all we can do is communicate while keeping distance good things can definitely happen.
Thank you Lauren Runow for allowing me to see the quarantine in a new light. My face hurts from smiling so much. You took a challenging situation and made it beautiful.
Sharee sits at home alone when she should be teaching. Drew sits at his parent’s home when he should be moving into a new apartment in San Francisco and starting a new job. Who knew that turning on the Tinder app could make a difficult time pass so much easier.
Dating within the social distancing guidelines would be challenging. A first date with social distancing would seem impossible. Making it even more difficult, Drew is taking the social distancing even more seriously with his mom in the high risk category.
I had no idea that social distancing could be so romantic. The things that the characters came up with were imaginative, thrilling, exciting. They left me swooning with each day that passed. I laughed at their antics. I gushed at the sweetness.
The epilogue was the perfect ending.
Absolutely loved this adorable rom com! It was perfectly set during the quarantine— how love can be found in the most craziest of times. Great job!
If I could give this book more stars, I would.
This book is awesomesauce! You’ll read it so fast, but that’s okay because you will want to read it again immediately, and it will still be fantastic.
That epilogue! Gah! I loved it so much, and their ritual? Aah, I’m so happy. That ending is The. Best.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this rom-com book! It is a fun, flirty, and sexy story about being quarantined during the Coronavirus pandemic—so real you can envision yourself in this situation!! This book had so many fantastic lines, witty banter, sarcasm, and inner dialogue—this was definitely a breath of fresh air. I laughed out loud more times than I could count, but also swooning over the handsome, tall, brooding, and sexy Andrew (Drew) Miller. This page-turning story completely encapsulates the madness of the first stirrings of love and lust when you can’t get enough of someone. I love the story of Drew Miller and Sharee Witzel—two people who met on Tinder because of the shelter-in-place order. I loved how Drew came up with creative ways for he and Sharee to be together and still continue social distancing. Their attraction and chemistry is so intense, alluring and mesmerizing, binding them to one another perfectly. Lauren Runow was able to show us how two singles are shifting their daily routines during the Coronavirus by dating from home while maintaining the six feet social distancing practice, how it can affect because people with chronic health conditions, and still results in less face-to-face social encounters. Lauren Runow manages to weave humorous plot lines centered on romantic ideas with artfully developed main characters. I HIGHLY recommend this book.
Years from now, the COVID-19 virus will be talked about with younger generations and older generations as they look back to this horrendous virus and how it shut almost everything down. It might even possibly be in the history books. But true love can’t keep this lovely young couple, Drew and Sharee from finding each other!
Lauren Runow is a fairly new author for me, after finding her from other recommended authors. I just want to say how absolutely freakin’ talented Ms. Runow is! She has a very real and unique way with words, and in Day One, the story takes place day-to-day between the two main characters, Drew and Sharee. From the first words in the story, I was immediately hooked! I was one of the fortunate ones who actually got to read each chapter as it was written out by Lauren. Let’s just say, that through all this crisis and lockdown orders, Day One kept me sane and alive. I anticipated each day for Lauren to release a new chapter and when it ended, I was saddened. But, so very happy that Lauren got to publish the entire story! Just be sure to pick this story up from Amazon so that you can get the epilogue. And what a wonderful ending too 🙂
I’m not going to give any spoilers away, but know that Day One truly follows the story of Drew, an up and coming Major Leagues Baseball player and Sharee, a 6th grade teacher. They somehow found each other on Tinder, the popular dating site and from the moment they chatted, the connection was INTENSE!!! I couldn’t help but fall in love with Drew, seeing how sweet and kind he is, and just truly an all around great guy. If only there were more men like him in the “real world”, lol.
You won’t be disappointed with Day One. It’s funny, adorable, sad, uplifting, and intense all rolled up into one gigantic beautiful story about two people who won’t let a pandemic get in the way of true love!
Thank you, Lauren for such an uplifting story during these troubling times!
This was a short and sweet rom com set during the lock down quarantine. I love Drew and Shree they are a sweet romantic couple that makes the most out of a bad situation and finds love.
I highly recommend
I received a copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion
