The Arizona Vengeance is killing it on the ice. But one player can’t seem to keep his eye on the puck—all thanks to the woman he just married to save her life. “Find your next hockey hero in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series.”—New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis My name is Dax Monahan and hockey is my passion. And if you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass … you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass 24/7. I’ve never had a hard time focusing on my career, but when my past comes knocking, no amount of training can prepare me for what lies on the other side of the door.
Regan Miles was always like a sister to me. When a shared tragedy brings us face to face after several years, I’m shocked to see just how much she’s changed. Gone is the shy, awkward little girl that always used to chase me and her brother around. Instead, I’m faced with a gorgeous woman who makes it damn hard to concentrate on anything but her.
Turns out, she’s in trouble, and the only way out is to get married.
I surprise myself when I tell her to marry me. Order her, actually. And most shocking of all, she doesn’t even hesitate before saying yes.
So it’s settled. We’re getting hitched and she’s moving to Arizona with me. All platonic, of course.
The catch?
I never knew I’d fall so hard for my best friend’s little sister.

Another Arizona Vengeance player to fall in love with, this team has plenty of sexy alphas on the outside and soft caring souls on the inside and let’s be honest what more could you want in a man …..
We first met Dax in earlier books but that doesn’t mean you need to have read previous stories to love this one but I’m guessing if this is your first Sawyer Bennett hockey book it won’t be your last.
Dax Monahan was always going to be the man that becomes involved with the sister of his recently deceased friend Lance but what he didn’t expect was to find out that Regan Miles is very sick and struggling to find the money for the treatments she desperately needs so he suggests the one thing that will get her on his medical insurance and that’s lets get married…..
What follows is a couple who have always had an attraction for each other finding themselves starting to fall in love with each other, the chemistry is sizzling hot and the banter between Dax and Regan flows so naturally. This is one of the best reads in this series and don’t get me wrong I love them all but this story captivated me and I fell big time for this couple and once you add the perfect mix of love, emotion, passion, banter and humour you get a book that gives you all the feels. This series is going from strength to strength and I can’t wait for book 5.
Dax is the 4th book in the Arizona Vengeance which is a spinoff from Carolina Cold Fury Series. (Just in case you can’t get enough of Sawyer Bennett’s books) Oh and this is Dax’s story which runs concurrently with Legend’s story. You can read each of these books as standalones. But, why would you? You would be missing the back stories from each of the players and characters.
Dax Monahan has known Regan Miles all her life. She is now 22 and he is 28. Regan was the sister of Dax’s best friend Lance. Lance is now gone and Regan is alone in the world and she has a deadly blood disease and needs help.
Dax pretty much tells her that they will marry for him to help her. Now you can read the story to see what happens next!
I really enjoyed reading their story! Also, it was eye opening for this rare blood disease that Sawyer Bennett educated us on. It shows that Dax isn’t just a pretty story!
And as always, it’s great to catch up with the other players on the Arizona Vengeance team. (Bishop, Erik and Legend)
Tacker will be next. We have read so much about Tacker that I can’t wait to read his story.
Holy slapshot straight to my heart Sawyer! 5 infinity hockey sticks for this story!
Meet Dax, whom you will fall in love with right off the bench! When his best friend is murdered in a robbery gone bad, he runs to New York to help out his friends sister, Regan. They’ve grown up together but he’s older than her. When she breaks down and tells him what’s going on, he offers up a solution to her problem, but will she accept it?
You will fall in love with these two, swooning all the way through their struggles. Sawyer is an amazing hockey romance author, her books never disappoint, if you love hockey romance but haven’t started this series, what the “h e double hockey sticks” are you waiting for! You will love it! Grab this one asap, but in the mean time catch up with the first 3 in the series!
I have so many words to use to describe this latest delve into the world of the Arizona Vengeance Hockey team. Once again Sawyer has brought us characters that we can easily fall in love with and who we rally behind. Dax and Regan’s story is Sexy, Steamy, Sweet, Emotional and chock full of Heart!! I loved it! And I adore them! Dax is a true hero! I know she is his best friend’s little sister, but what he does for Regan is such an incredible thing and all sorts of heroic in my book!! I love friends to lovers and marriage of convenience stories so I was so excited that this would be both. I enjoyed watching these two amazing characters fall for each other in a deep and all consuming love kind of way, but at the same time lifting each other up to the best version of themselves!!
4.25 stars–DAX is the fourth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult ARIZONA VENGEANCE erotic, hockey romance series focusing on the NHL’s Arizona Vengeance Hockey team. This is twenty-seven year old, left-winger Calvin ‘Dax’ Monahan, and twenty-two year old, nurse Regan Miles’ story line. DAX can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for the history between and about the characters. Some of the events of DAX cross over and run parallel with the events of book three LEGEND.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Dax and Regan) DAX follows the best friend’s little sister/marriage of convenience relationship between twenty-seven year old, Arizona Vengeance left-winger Calvin ‘Dax’ Monahan, and twenty-two year old, nurse Regan Miles. Months earlier Regan’s brother and Dax’s best friend Lance Miles was killed in a mugging, leaving Regan alone without family or support. Hoping to help Regan move forward Dax offers to help clean up and clear out but something isn’t right with his best friend’s little sister. Desperate for help, Regan accepts Dax’s offer of marriage knowing the marriage would be in name only. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Dax and Regan, and the potential fallout as a misunderstanding may push Regan out of Dax’s life.
Meanwhile, Tacker Hall continues to spiral out of control. At the end of LEGEND Tacker found himself on the verge of losing it all. Suspended and facing legal troubles, Tacker is given an ultimatum by management, an ultimatum Tacker struggles to accept.
The relationship between Dax and Regan is a friends to lovers; a marriage of convenience that grows into something more. The attraction is immediate; their mutual grief buried by the possibility of future loss. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Arizona Vengeance: Bishop and Brooke, Erik and Blue, Legend, Tacker, Coach Claude, and team owner Dominik Carlson, as well as Dax’s sisters Willow and Meredith, and their parents Linda and Calvin Monahan. There is something developing between Dominik and Willow.
DAX is a story of grief , loss and sorrow; revelations, acceptance, romance and love. The premise is captivating and engaging; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are energetic, strong and dynamic. DAX is a heart breaking and emotional story of one couple’s journey towards a happily ever after –for now.
5 star Review Dax (Arizona Vengeance #4) by Sawyer Bennett
AUDIO REVIEW:
Narrated by Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose, I found myself listening well into the night. They both drew me in with their narration and absolutely captured my attention as they brought Dax and Regan to life for me.
Dax is surprised to learn that Regan Miles is sick and struggling to keep up with the cost of the treatments. When he sees Regan he is shocked how much she has grown up, after all to him she has always been the little sister. Dax is even more shocked when to help her out, he suggests they get married.
I loved the dynamic between Dax and Regan he is an alpha and knows what he wants and goes after it. I was absolutely hooked on this book from the first to the last chapter and couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and I loved the banter and humour as well.
The emotions that were pulled out as I read this book had me in tears at times. Dax is a knight in shinning amour when he sweeps in to help Regan. Living together, even though it is platonic, emotions and feelings soon become involved.
As Dax and Regan move from friends to lovers the journey they are on will open them up to a myriad of possibilities.
This is the story of a hockey player and his friend’s little sister. Dax and his whole family are just sweet and awesome people. The way he steps up for Regan just shows his character. I like how Regan is so open, honest, and accepting. She’s got a handle on herself and her heart. These two are a sweet pair, and the angst is low. There’s enough going on in this without needing a ton of angst, so it was perfect. The ending is totally swoony and I can’t wait to read about them and all the others in future books.
Now let’s get real. We need Tacker’s story- omg! Like, I am ready yesterday.
He has loved her like a sister her whole life. Can he love her as a wife? He wants to take care of Regan and make sure she gets the treatments that marrying him will guarantee. It’s the right thing to do. They can make it work. They have to. Her life literally depends on it. When she is done with graduate school and gets a permanent job with health insurance they can divorce. Sounds easy.
We all plan to marry for love. Love does come in more ways than one. Dax loves Regan as a sister but now that she is all grown he sees her in a different way. She was always the youngest out of all of them and he never gave any thought to her more than seeing her as he would one of his sisters. His feelings start to change as does the love he feels for her. Now it’s a love a man has for a woman, a woman he might even consider spending the rest of his life with. Their story is a true love story. A relationship based on love in all its forms, trust, understanding, and commitment. And of course chemistry. Their chemistry is off the charts. Dax and Regan a beautiful and touching love story that will make you believe in forever love.
After getting glimpses of Dax from the previous books in this series I couldn’t wait to read his story and his story was definitely a book with so many feels. Dax and Regan’s story was heartfelt, all-consuming, emotional and one you just wanted to keep reading and never stop. Dax and Reagan have known each other for years, grew up together but what happens when that friendship line blurs and becomes more? What happens when your bestfriend dies and you are trusted to take care of his sister, to help her through the loss but instead a relationship forms one that wasn’t expected but you refuse to give it up? You need to read this book, this series because it’s one you can’t put down!
3.5 stars
Dax is a sexy best friend’s little sister/marriage of convenience romance. The story is book 4 in the series and runs along the same timeline as the previous book, Legend, but can be read as a stand alone. For maximum enjoyment though, I definitely recommend them since previous characters appear throughout the series.
Dax and Regan had amazing chemistry and I really loved the progression of their friendship to more. They have known each other their whole lives and I think that added a sweetness to their connection that I don’t always feel. Yes, there is push and pull between them as the lines get blurred, but I liked that there wasn’t any unnecessary drama between them (or if there was, it was resolved quickly). I think what made this a less engaging read for me, was that it felt like this book spent just as much time on Dax and Regan as it did setting up the next books in the series. Don’t get me wrong – I can’t wait to read Tacker (I just want to hug this man so much!!) and Dominik’s (YUM with a capital Y!) stories, but I felt like it took away too much of the spotlight from Dax and Regan. I did love seeing all the previous couples (Erik and Blue!) and characters as well as getting to know Willow, Dax’s sister and the likely love interest of team owner Dominik Carlson. An enjoyable read overall and I’m excited to continue on with the series!
*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for a honest review**
It’s no secret that hockey is my favorite sport, so when I get the chance to get my hands on a hockey romance, and when it is by Sawyer Bennett, I always know I’m in for a great read!
Dax Monahan and Regan Miles have known one another for years. Regan’s older brother was Dax’s best friend and so the two families have always been connected. When the unthinkable happens to Regan’s brother, Dax checks in on her while his team, the Arizona Vengeance, is playing a game in New York where she is tying up loose ends. He quickly realizes that something is off and that Regan is struggling, but when he learns of why, he’s floored and he’s determined to do something about it. The best solution is for the two of them to get married and the idea is that it will be on paper only, but the question is, will they be able to pull that off?
Regan has learned to be independent due to the loss of her parents at an early age and her circumstances lately have only forced her to be more independent, however she also realizes how utterly alone she is. Dax is someone who always wants to do the best by those he cares about, however he’s never thought about being in a long-term relationship. The chemistry between the two of them is absolutely undeniable and you know what they say about best laid plans. The question is will the circumstances pull them closer together or push them apart?
This was a great story with heat and emotion and I really enjoyed both Dax and Regan. It was nice too to see where we are likely heading with the next couple of books, which makes me even more excited for the continuation of this series!
So I’m kinda hooked on the Vengeance world. I look forward to each book and Dax did not disappoint. It’s a best friends little sister, marriage of convenience, friends to lovers, sports romance all rolled into one! Sexy, sweet and low on relationship angst which was good for me considering some of the other heavy things going on. Anyway, I loved Dax and Regan and can’t wait for the next one!
Dax is the fourth title in the Arizona Vengeance series and features Dax and Regan. This title runs parallel to Legend the third title in the series, so there is some scenes that overlap from an alternative point of view.
Regan was the younger sister of Dax’s best friend and the grew up as an integral part of each other’s lives. Regan has endured a life of loss and heartbreak, and to top it off she has a life altering disease, when Dax discovers she needs help he offers a marriage of convenience.
Dax is not only a talented hockey play and alpha to the core, but he’s a good guy who takes care of those he loves and is very protective.
The chemistry between Regan and Dax is undeniable, the more time they spend in each other’s company their connections develops and evolves.
Dax is a unique, engaging and emotional story and has left me eager to read Tracker’s story which is the one I’ve been waiting for since the very beginning of this series.

~ 4.5 More Than Friends Stars ~
Are you a fan of friends to lovers stories? How about hockey romances??
If you answered yes to those questions then you need to pick up Dax…the 4th book in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series.
I thought this book was very enjoyable. I loved both Dax and Regan’s character. I also liked that Sawyer gave a perfect mix of emotion, hockey and sexy times. I also found the basis of this friends to lovers story was very interesting. It was about a subject I have never read about before. This was so much more than just a sports romance!!
I have to say I think I am starting to love these Vengeance Players better than her Cold Fury. There is just something about these characters that suck me in and I feel connected to them. I love their bond with each other also.
Dax is a standalone novel in the Arizona Vengeance Series by Sawyer Bennett. It is a complete standalone, but we do see reoccurring characters from the previous books. I don’t believe this series has to be read in order, but I think it is more enjoyable that way. This story is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow and pace of the story worked well for Dax and Regan. I do like that throughout this story, Sawyer has set up the premise of Tacker’s story, which is the next book to release in this series. I am interested to see where his story goes.
In this book we follow Dax and Regan. They have been close friends all their lives. So when tragedy strikes Regan again, it is only natural that Dax comes to her aid. What Dax doesn’t know is that his best Friend Lance (Regan’s brother) and Regan have been keeping a secret. What will happen when Dax finds out this secret?? Can two lifelong friends cross over the line to becoming more?? What happens when something fake turns into something real? Will they get their HEA?? Read this book to find out.
As I said before we get to see the previous Vengeance players in this book and we get to keep up with Tacker’s on going storyline.
If you are a fan of friends to lovers with a hockey theme to your romance then you should pick up Dax. Once you meet the players of the Arizona Vengeance you will be hooked!!!
Dax Monahan has been around in all of the Vengeance books. He is the easygoing charmer whose prowess with women got him in a bit of trouble. But even though he is focused on winning, he is also a good team mate and friend who is there for those that need him.
When tragedy strikes, Dax wants to make sure his best friend’s little sister, Regan is okay. And even though she is evasive, he finally gets the truth out of her. And he is determined to fix her situation and make things easier for her…even if it means doing something he never even considered. Suddenly they are in a marriage of convenience and co-habitating.
Regan is stubborn, independent, but also realizes she is all alone and Dax has always been like family. She does not want to need his help or be a burden, but he kind of won’t take NO for an answer. She really just wants to have a normal life and take care of herself. But the more she is around Dax, the more safe and secure she feels. He is her friend, family, and savior, but is he meant to be a lover or her true love? She is smart enough to realize that it would be really easy to get too attached and get hurt.
And Dax never thought he would find little Regan so attractive and distracting. And their chemistry is unavoidable. They already had a connection, trust, and closeness, but this is a whole new scenario. He can be protective, bossy, and now even possessive. He never had any intention on having a real relationship or growing feelings. And her situation literally scares him. But sometimes in life there are things that cannot be controlled. But will those things be what bring them closer or tear them apart?
This is a sweet, sexy friends-to-lovers, best-friend’s-little-sister, marriage-of-convenience story told in dual points of view. Dax and Regan are both likable, and their connection is well established and they have good rapport and chemistry. It does not have a lot of angst, but there are some serious and emotional issues that some of the characters are facing(some also occurred in Legend since it follows some of the timeline, but are seen from other points of view). I loved getting more with the other guys. I enjoyed the sneak peek into Tacker and Dominik’s stories . I have been waiting impatiently for Tacker’s since book one and now I am even more interested. And I am loving the story line with Dominik and a certain strong-willed woman that is developing. I can’t wait for more from Arizona!
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This series just keeps getting better and better! I loved watching Dax and Regan navigate the unique situation their faced with. I also loved getting a glimpse of something to come in the future!
4.5 stars
Dax by Sawyer Bennett is the 4th book in The Arizona Vengeance series and can be read as a stand-a-lone.
It tells the story of Dax and Regan. Regan is his best friend Lance’s younger sister. When Lance dies in a mugging attempt gone wrong, he visits her knowing something isn’t right. She discloses she has been diagnosed and dealing with a disease that destroys red blood cells. Because the cost of the medication is so expensive, Dax convinces Regan to marry him, so he can cover her on his medical insurance.
As they spend time together, their affection grows and they both struggle with their attraction to one another. We also get to revisit other characters from the series, and we learn more about Tanner, which will be the next book in the series.
I appreciated how Ms. Sawyer went into detail explaining Regan’s disease and how it affects not only the individual, but the caretakers.
This is a 4.5-star story with a HEA. I look forward to Ms. Sawyer’s next release.
This story is so emotional, all I did was cry!!
Dax is such a sweetheart, but he’s also an asshat at times when it come to his girl but doesn’t want admit that he’s in love with her also!
Will there be an happily ever after for Dax or will his stubbornness be the end of what could be amazing?
Loving that Dax is so sure and decisive. Almost cocky but not quite. He is just determined. And I’m also pleasantly surprised to read that Regan is really the one in charge and she is a great addition to the gang responsible for chipping away Tacker’s walls. She is the one that is not in denial but not the only one that makes the hard decisions. When she saw herself alone, Dax was there without hesitation. Offering help because he really cared about her, was the best thing that happened to these characters. They are extremely strong and have a heart of gold. The more time they spend together the stronger their bond becomes. It is beautiful reading this story and seeing how this characters find a meaning in each others lives. And even in his confusion and resistance to settle down and accept deeper feelings towards Regan, Dax is sweet as candy. He is protective and attentive. A complete gentleman. A character that will make you proud. This story is romantic and a great addition to the series. Also making you love the little details shared of what comes next.
4.5 Dax was a great read! I’ve enjoyed him as a character from the start and was definitely excited to get his book. I felt for him with what happened in Legend and was curious as to how that was going to play out. I wasn’t expecting the storyline to be what it was, but I really liked it. It was emotional, intriguing, and entertaining. Dax is a stand up guy. He doesn’t even consider not helping Regan, he just steps up and does what he thinks is right. He can be stubborn but also persuasive. He’s also really sweet and considerate. Regan’s backstory was very interesting to me. I had never heard of PNH until now, and was surprised at some of the things I learned about it. She’s been through a lot in her life and still has a lot of ups and downs in her future. She has a good outlook on things despite her condition and is such a strong woman. I love how she can easily go toe to toe with Dax and make him see reason. I love them as a couple and think they are very fitting for one another. Their journey throughout the book was not a typical one, and was trying at times, but they’re strong characters and can pull through. I was happy to find out a little bit more about Tacker, I can’t wait for his book, even though I’m expecting it to be quite emotional. I also enjoyed getting a look at Dominik and what his book may look like; I think that’ll be an entertaining one!
