The Arizona Vengeance is killing it on the ice. But one player can’t seem to keep his eye on the puck—all thanks to the woman he just married to save her life. “Find your next hockey hero in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series.”—New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis My name is Dax Monahan and hockey is my passion. And if you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass … you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass 24/7. I’ve never had a hard time focusing on my career, but when my past comes knocking, no amount of training can prepare me for what lies on the other side of the door.
Regan Miles was always like a sister to me. When a shared tragedy brings us face to face after several years, I’m shocked to see just how much she’s changed. Gone is the shy, awkward little girl that always used to chase me and her brother around. Instead, I’m faced with a gorgeous woman who makes it damn hard to concentrate on anything but her.
Turns out, she’s in trouble, and the only way out is to get married.
I surprise myself when I tell her to marry me. Order her, actually. And most shocking of all, she doesn’t even hesitate before saying yes.
So it’s settled. We’re getting hitched and she’s moving to Arizona with me. All platonic, of course.
The catch?
I never knew I’d fall so hard for my best friend’s little sister.

Another Vengeance player falls hard, and falls for all the right reasons. Lance Miles was Dax Monahan’s best friend and older brother to Regan. When circumstances require Dax to step in and help Regan out, he really steps up to the occasion. He not only finds a way to take care of Regan, but also finds love. However, their journey together includes big bumps and they learn to work out issues together. There’s wit, humor, love, compassion, romance, and some hotness in Dax’s story! Enjoy!
I love Dax’s sister Willow and her impact to the story. Hopefully there will be more of her and Dominik. Also, there’s more of the other Vengeance players, like Erik, Legend, and Bishop.
At the end of Dax’s story is the beginnings of Tacker’s story!! I can’t wait!
THIS STORY …. *swoon*
There are so many aspects of this story that pleased me.
First, the organic way Dax just fell over himself for Regan. He hadn’t seen her in years. He wasn’t harboring a secret crush on her for years. He just came to her rescue in the way that he did because it’s just who he was, without a thought for himself. He jumped. And that made me swoon from page one. And the progression from helping her to being her one and only didn’t feel insta in the least. Yes, the attraction was instant, she is after all a beautiful woman, but it didn’t come across like that. I have to give Sawyer mad props for pulling this off as beautifully as she did.
Second, the way Regan’s health issues were dealt with. If it’s one thing I can count on is that Sawyer Bennett does her research. Yes, you’d think this would be the case for all writers but alas, not so much. But it’s not just that she immerses herself in the subject matter but that she also depicts the situation correctly and with respect.
From the day I read my first book written by Sawyer many years ago, I have never even been tempted not to one-click every single book she publishes. And her skill gets better and better as the books keep coming. I cannot recommend this author enough AND this book.
Now …. for the love of all that is holy can someone please tell me who is going to be the lucky woman (or man) to save Tacker from himself
Nobody writes hockey romance like Sawyer Bennett. If you like hot hockey heroes and a swoon worthy story, Dax is the book to read. You immediately fall in love with the characters and the emotional storyline and don’t want to stop reading. A great addition to the series.

So. Much. Goodness!
This entire book hit all my happy buttons and then some. Not only did I love and adore Dax and Regan’s journey to their HEA, but I got all the family feels from the Vengeance crew that made it so easy for me to get lost in the pages and really hard to accept that I’d have to wait for the next book (especially since the next book is the one I’ve been making grabby hands at since meeting the man in Bishop’s book).
Dax and Regan. These two I adored. They drove me a tinsy bit batshitcrazy, but I still adored them. Dax is all kinds of laid back, yet cocky, and charming alpha male with a golden heart and when he’s in, he’s all in. Regan is one sweet, sassy and strong woman. She’s had the rug pulled out from under her quite a few times in her life, but she’s come out stronger for it.
I thoroughly enjoyed their journey to their HEA. It was low on angst, and the true affection, and attraction they had to one another jumped off the page, but man did these two have me rolling my eyes a lot. I totally understood why they were…conflicted, I did, but had they stopped believing they could read each other’s minds things could have gone a little smoother…well, okay, there were many foot meet mouth moments too, but…Regardless, I loved Dax and Regan together. Their bantering was a lot of fun, the smexy was HOT and considering all that was going on, I really liked that their roadblock was a small one and easily navigated around.
I’ve been a #fangirl of the authors for awhile and no doubt the Cold Fury series is one of my fav Hockey romances, but I’m absolutely loving this one. A lot of my love comes from the fact that we are getting to watch this team come together and become a family and things definitely get intense in this one in that department. I loved hanging out with Erik, Bishop and Legend and getting to meet a few more of the players, as well as Dominik, but Tacker…that man is the one that has captured my interest from the start and I cannot wait for his book!
Note: This one does run concurrent with part of Legend’s book, though you don’t have to read it first to enjoy Dax, but know that you will see how certain situations in Legend story play out.

Regan hasn’t had the easiest life. Her parents died in a car accident when she was only 14 years old. Her brother Lance stepped up to take care of her and has been by her side ever since. When tragedy strikes a friend from Regan’s past comes back into her life and nothing will be the same.
Dax is a hotshot hockey player for the Arizona Vengeance. He has his fair share of woman to keep his bed warm at night (even some crazies). When his past comes knocking, he does what he does on the ice, he takes control. Only in taking control he never realized that he would develop real feelings for his best friends’ little sister.
Since the very first Arizona Vengeance book, I’ve been waiting, rather impatiently if I can be honest, to see how Sawyer would tell Dax’s story. She didn’t disappoint! I was captivated from the very start and read this book in one sitting because I had to know what was going to happen! That just what Sawyer does, she captivates you from the very first page until the very last and then she gives you a sneak peek at the next book and you are left waiting! She never disappoints and the way she writes leaves you rooting for the characters, both the main and the secondary characters! I also love how she sets you up for the next book in the series by giving you a little bit more insight into secondary characters that leaves you begging for their books!
Dax plays for the Arizona Vengeance hockey team. When his best friend, Lance, from childhood gets killed Dax gets thrown for a loop. He also gets a shock when he sees Lance’s little sister, Regan, who isn’t so little anymore for the first time in a few years. Knowing that something is wrong with Regan, Dax pays her a visit to her New York apartment. What he ends up finding out causes him to step up and be the white knight that he knows Lance would have wanted him to be….he asks Regan to marry him and she actually agrees. Now that Dax and Regan are living platonically in Arizona he starts to realize that he may be having certain feelings for his best friend’s little sister…one of my favorite troupes…and it seems she is having those same feelings. Things quickly heat up between Dax and Regan and soon their platonic relationship is very real. As Dax and Regan navigate this new relationship they both start to realize that they may have just found their happy ever after that neither of them was even looking for.
I just adored Dax and Regan. I loved how their story quickly went from friends, to marriage of convenience to lovers! These two are both such sweet, loving people and they deserved what ever happiness they can get. I just love this series and it was fun connecting with the other players too. We did get a little glimpse into Tacker and I am so looking forward to that story even though it looks like it will be an emotional one!
A good read with likeable characters. You like Dax and Regan the minute you meet them and the story they have to tell is really good and you root for them to have their HEA. So when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy.
Dax is playing the hero. Rescuing Regan by marrying her. But is it only so she can have his insurance? Or could there be a romance brewing for another member of the Arizona Vengeance? Only time will tell.
5 stars!!
Dax by Sawyer Bennett is one of my faves!!!
I love that Sawyer is always able to bring her readers stories with depth and true emotions.
Dax and Regan have both shared great loss, but find themselves facing a future where the line between just friends and more become blurred.
Sawyer lets this story unfold in a way that is just perfection.
You’ll find yourself rooting for these characters and wanting to read the book all over again!
5 Stars
The perfect blend of marriage of convenience and falling for the best friends sister. The twist, the best friend, sadly, isn’t around to interfere. This leaves the path wide open to fall for her and fall hard.
When your life is at stake you will do anything to survive. Even marry your deceased brother’s best friend. The catch, trying not to fall for him for real.
I loved the many elements of this book, I couldn’t put it down. It has everything you need for a great romance read.
When Dax decides to marry his best friend’s little sister to help her out of a bad situation, he doesn’t really know what he’s getting into. How hard can it be? He doesn’t think things through, or maybe subconsciously he does, because it doesn’t take long for a platonic relationship to go carnal.
Regan is a sweet girl with a serious situation. She really has little choice but to accept Dax’s offer. Like Dax, she doesn’t quite think through what all that closeness might do — like bring out some real feelings for Dax.
Dax barely recognizes what’s happening to him, he’s not big on love but when Regan is in danger, it’s a good thing he’s got some team mates and friends who can help him get his head on straight.
There aren’t many surprises here, it’s just a sweet little love story with plenty of heat in the sheets. It’s cute how Dax really doesn’t have a clue that he’s falling. Overall, an enjoyable reading experience.
One more thing… there’s quite a bit of setup in Dax for Tacker’s story, so you don’t want to miss it!

I have loved Ms. Sawyer’s Cold Fury series and now the Vengeance series is my new guilty pleasure! Dax and Regan’s story is a friends to lovers story that gave me all of the feels. There is something about these big, burly men falling for these women that are so perfect for them. Dax has known Regan all of his life, but when his best friend dies and Regan is left in a situation, Dax steps up. I loved watching these two test the boundaries of their friendship and their marriage and eventually falling head over heals for each other. Another great read in this series!
Dax (Arizona Vengeance #4) by Sawyer Bennett is Dax’s story. I am loving this series. I initially was concerned about this book. I was wondering what the author was going to do with this self absorbed player. Last we saw Dax he was trying to get over the death of his best friend Lance. Now Dax is going to check in on his little sister Reagan. Reagan is trying to deal with her brother’s death while getting his affairs in order. When Dax shows up he knows something is going on with Reagan. When Dax discovers her secret he jumps into action. What starts out as a sham and an obligation turns into more. What happens is something neither one expected. This was a very good story. To my pleasure this story took place around the same time as Legend. We got another look at book 3 as well as Tacker. I am so looking forward to Tacker’s book. In this story we get to see another side of Dax that will make you fall in love with him. I definitely feel in love with him. I am so glad I am reading this series. 5 stars for me.
Sweet Addition to the Vengeance Series
Dax and Regan are wonderful characters. Sawyer’s writing is sharp and witty. The story is sexy and sweet. Everything I look for in a Sawyer Bennett book.
Any current fan will not be disappointed and new fans will easily fall in love with the series after meeting Dax and Regan.
**ARC provided for an honest review.**
Dax is the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance series but it can be read as a stand alone. While this reader does not recommend that if you plan on reading the prior books in the series as it will give you spoilers to the characters in those books. There are also events in this book that run parallel to events in previous books but told from a different point of view. This adds to the enjoyment of the book getting to see something differently then what had already seen.
For those that have read the prior books, we already know a little about Dax and the tragedy in his life. What we didn’t know is the life change that has occurred. Regan is devastated by the loss of her brother and Dax is determined to do what he can to take care of her. He just surprises himself to what extent.
This book has it all. Dax and Regan are friends, practically family. They take the reader/listener on a gamut of emotions throughout the book. I have both read and listened to this book and the audio brings even more life and emotion to the book. Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose do a wonderful job of bringing all the characters to life and are able to change up their voices for the various characters. Dax and Regan are both strong characters that are not afraid to show emotions and I love how the narrators portrayed it. You can really feel and hear the emotions they are experiences while reading or listening. The author also does her best to try and education the reader on a serious illness without it overshadowing the relationship between Dax and Regan. I also like how each book in this series does not have an epilogue because these players are all a part of each book so when their book ends, it is not the end of their story. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Make sure to read the Foreword and Dedication. It gives you a hint into her inspiration and if you haven’t read Legend you may want to start there first. If you haven’t started the series, you’re only three behind – that’s not too bad. It may be an incentive to go back and read since it’s been a few months since Legend’s story came out. Part of his story bleeds into part of this one and that’s another good reason to get his story done first.
Dax Monahan’s someone who cares about family and friends. He makes a statement that has an invisible exclamation point attached. Regan Miles has had a lot to deal with. I applaud any author that creates a character that isn’t perfect or in this case has challenges that most of us wouldn’t understand. I don’t have quite the same circumstances but I can identify with some of her choices. It’s a great way to give the reader a connection to a character – gives the aspect of realism.
Even with everything going on in their lives, you can feel their instant connection. What I loved was watching this man who plays hockey being felled like a tree by a slip of a woman – oh how the mighty have fallen. There’s just enough in the story about the hockey team and its members but not too much that it would overtake the main issues. In past years, when you thought of hockey players it was the fighting and the missing teeth. But our author shows that there’s a human side to those players. She also brings awareness to something that I had never heard of before. It was watching their lives meld that really caught my attention and kept me turning those pages. Anything else was just icing on the cake plus I already added the next two books into my TBR list because I don’t want to miss anything when it comes to the Arizona Vengeance – especially after getting a sneak peek as to who our next main men are. And how can you not want to see what this author is going to have in store for you next when she wrote such a romantic ending.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
4 1/2 STARS!
The guys that Sawyer Bennett writes just keep getting better and better! We’re all in for this hot hockey stud, and then he turns around and melts our heart time and again … gotta love ’em! Dax isn’t shy about demanding that Regan let him take a huge burden off of her shoulders, and when attraction is quick to flare between them, it’s about to get real! Great characters, lots of sweet and sexy times and just a downright joy of a series to read. I’ve got my heart on my sleeve for Tacker’s story coming up next!!
Arizona Vengeance star Dax Monahan isn’t shy about getting what he wants in life. He has worked hard to achieve the hockey success he has, and he doesn’t hesitate to play hard as well. When he realizes Regan needs help, he’s quick to come up with a plan to get it for her … even if it requires him to hang up his bachelor shoes and marry her!
Regan Miles has had a hard couple of years. She’s trying to keep up with the motions as she copes with the loss of her brother, but it’s just the icing on the cake of a stressful time and Dax’s shoulder turns out to be too good to refuse when she needs an ear. She’s in a pickle and is grateful when he offers to marry her to get her the help she needs … but she’s not expecting it turn into more so hot and so fast!

Sawyer Bennett always delivers a well rounded story to her readers. Dax was a great friends to lovers story with a little bit of drama but filled with lots of love and compassion. I loved how the author tied in this story with previous stories and sorta gave a us a what’s to come.
While I loved the story and how it played out I was missing something to push the story into a 5 star read. I just wanted a little more wow factor to the story. But overall, I enjoyed the story. I thought it was well written and had a great flow. Being a hockey romance was a plus as I love a good sports romance. This is a story not to miss!
This is Dax and Reagan’s story. In the previous book we find out a little about what is going on with Dax and I couldn’t wait to get Dax’s story! When Dax’s best friend is killed, he rushes to New York to be there for his best friends sister. Dax will do whatever he can to help Regan, even marry her. Will their marriage of convince become more? I loved Dax and Regan’s book and I can’t wait to read what comes next!
I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.
I have been madly in love with these fictional hockey heroes since Sawyer Bennett introduced us to the Arizona Vengeance, so I couldn’t wait to crawl in bed with yet another book boyfriend that was going to steal my heart as quickly has he or his teammates steal the puck. From the moment Dax and Regan’s love story began, I was completely engrossed, enamored, and impatient to read more.
I thought that Dax Monahan was a sweeetie from the beginning of the series, but never did I imagine that he has the heart of gold that Sawyer Bennett gave him. He definitely knows how to take honorable intentions and heat to a whole new level and he does both while keeping Regan’s heart tied in knots. I couldn’t wait for Dax’s “platonic” marriage to turn to so much more. Dax has all the charm, sexiness, and sensitivity to keep a reader glued to their seat, with their heart melting in their hands, red faced and panting.
Regan had me from the moment she opened the door and gave herself to Dax. This grieving, strong young woman needs a shoulder to cry on and a man to show her that she matters in every way and Dax is definitely the hockey hunk to do just that. I adored this spirited heroine and getting to know her and watch her desires and love for Dax grow.
Sawyer Bennett delivers a romance that has your heart skidding across the ice with no likelihood of recovering from her newest dynamic duo. Dax and Regan kept me turning pages as fast as possible, experiencing moments of joy, sadness, and pure ecstasy. Bennett wields her pen like a wizard and master of the word that she is and always leaves me wanting more of her fictional couples. I can never have enough of the Arizona Vengeance or any other story that she chooses to write. I am obsessed and cannot wait for the next time I get to be with her hockey heroes and the spectacular women that they choose to give their hearts to.
