The Arizona Vengeance is killing it on the ice. But one player can’t seem to keep his eye on the puck—all thanks to the woman he just married to save her life. “Find your next hockey hero in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series.”—New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis My name is Dax Monahan and hockey is my passion. And if you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass … you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass 24/7. I’ve never had a hard time focusing on my career, but when my past comes knocking, no amount of training can prepare me for what lies on the other side of the door.
Regan Miles was always like a sister to me. When a shared tragedy brings us face to face after several years, I’m shocked to see just how much she’s changed. Gone is the shy, awkward little girl that always used to chase me and her brother around. Instead, I’m faced with a gorgeous woman who makes it damn hard to concentrate on anything but her.
Turns out, she’s in trouble, and the only way out is to get married.
I surprise myself when I tell her to marry me. Order her, actually. And most shocking of all, she doesn’t even hesitate before saying yes.
So it’s settled. We’re getting hitched and she’s moving to Arizona with me. All platonic, of course.
The catch?
I never knew I’d fall so hard for my best friend’s little sister.

Oh Dax, the alpha male with a heart of gold.
First of all let me say that I read this story and after I was done, I had to read it again. It touched my soul and I was touched by Dax’s compassion. Dax and Regan know each other all their lives, but when tragedy strikes and certain things come to light, Dax becomes the man Regan needs to not only heal her heart and soul but also her body.
This story is heartfelt from beginning to end, you can truly feel how much Dax and Regan cared for each other as friends first and lovers later on. While Dax is an alpha through and through he’s not overbearing towards Regan, he just wants what’s best for her wellbeing and to me that was endearing. I adored the banter between Dax and his teammates, you can tell they’re a close knit family and who watch over each other no matter the situation. Dax and Regan’s sexual chemistry…whoa baby…H O T!!!!
Although the theme of falling in love with the best sister is pretty popular these days, Sawyer put a spin to this story that separated it from other ones carrying this same subject matter. I really appreciate it when an author gives their story that extra something that makes the reader fall in love with it and hold it close to their heart.
I highly recommend this new installment of this terrific series, and for your complete enjoyment, pick up the rest of the hockey hunks from the Arizona Vengeance.
I always love Sawyer Bennett’s hockey books. Dax was NO exception. Life can change on a dime and this book is all about that. Regan has just lost her brother, Dax’s best friend and fellow hockey player, Lance. They all grew up together and Regan was the bratty little sister that used to follow them around. Regan is six years younger than Dax, but she’s all woman now. Dax marries her to save her life, literally. Regan has a very rare blood disease called PNH. The medication for it is astronomically expensive. But what started out as a marriage “in name only” may turn into more. One slightly inebriated night ends with a steamy encounter between the two. Can they build on that or will fear on both sides ruin the possibilities?
Dax is the sweetest guy! You’ll fall in love with him and how he treats sweet Regan. Loved this one by Sawyer Bennett! 4.5 stars
Rating 4.5
Wow, Sawyer Bennett does it again with book 4 in the Arizona Vengeance series. Dax is a sexy alpha hockey player and Regan is a strong beautiful woman – who just happens to be his best friends, little sister. Now his best friend is gone and Regan is all alone and with her health in jeopardy Dax comes in to save the day – in the form of marriage no less. What started off as a marriage of convenience all of the sudden 1 drunken night becomes so much more.
To say I love Ms. Bennett’s hockey series is an understatement. She has weaved such an interesting world that each time a new book comes out I am aching to get my hands on it. Dax and Regan’s story is fast paced with fantastic dialog and character development. We not only get to finally see their story the set up for Tacker’s story is so good I am not sure I can wait. We also get to see more of the Vengeance team which is always fun. That all being said this is definitely Dax and Regan’s story from beginning to end.
Hot and funny and touching
Book 4 in the Arizona Vengeance series, which is a spinoff of the author‘s Cold Fury series (the Cold Fury team gets a mention here), I’ve been a fan of the series since book 1. Timeline wise, you should know there’s some overlap with the end of Legend’s book, so note that reading this book has spoilers for Legend. While all these books work as standalones, I always feel that the more invested you are in the crossover characters, the more enjoyment you get out of the book, and I think that’s particularly true here. Revisiting a couple of the events from Legend just had more emotional impact because I was so attached to all these characters from reading Legend’s book.
A best friend’s sister story, I liked that the plot took a different track with the marriage of convenience storyline, which is a favorite of mine. Dax isn’t quite ready to admit what he feels for Regan could be something more (I adore how protective and caring he is, though), while Regan has been left by so many people, voluntarily or not, she’s determined not depend on Dax anymore than she absolutely has to—I have to admire her strength and independence. There’s ton’s of chemistry as well as a solid friendship already in place, though, and we all know what happens to the best laid plans, particularly when hearts get involved.
There are plenty of great secondary characters to add depth, plus the plot threads to go with them. I loved touching base on the previous stories—the little (practically a throwaway) bit of the guys shopping for Valentine’s Day made me smirk and snort a laugh. As for future stories, I’ve been jonesing for Tacker’s story since meeting him in book 1 of the series so I was excited to get more setup for him (his story is going to be next) AND we get setup for team owner Dominik as well, who I’ve been swooning over from the start. Squeeeee! Seriously though, I loved how determined Dax and the gang were to help Tacker (including giving him a kick in the a$$ when he needs it!), and I can already tell I’m going to love Dax’s sister, Willow as she keeps Dominik on his toes.
Hot and funny and touching in equal measure, it’s the characters that make this a wonderful read and my new favorite in the series—at least until the next book, lol. 5+stars

I love this series and this one did not disappoint!
Dax is a player on the Arizona Vengeance team and best friend’s with Lance (who plays for another team). Unfortunately, Lance is killed and Dax goes to the funeral where he sees Lance’s sister Regan. They were all close friends and Dax realizes that Regan has no one left in her life as her parents had already passed away. Since Regan was younger, Lance took care of her growing up. As if the death wasn’t bad enough, Regan has a disease and the medicine is incredibly expensive. Up until now, she was covered on Lance’s insurance plan but she’s lost that.
Dax is crushed to see her suffering and convinces her to fake marry him to get coverage.
Logically, she realizes this is her best option, but she fights it. Watching the two of them come to grips with the situation and battle their attraction to each other makes this book a page turner that you don’t want to end.
This series keeps getting better and better. A great read!
Dax Monahan is a player! And by player I only mean that in the best sense of term because he is a professional hockey player with a heart of gold. His good nature and compassion are on full display when he comes to the aide of his late best friend’s sister, Regan Miles.
Though this is a story about Dax and Regan and their friendship blooming over time, I found it also to be a story that set more of a foundation of the Arizona Vengeance hockey team as a whole.
As someone who has read the entire series and looks forward to more, I enjoyed reading where the players have been and seeing where others were headed.
While I enjoyed the setup of what seemed to be stories to come, I felt as though the story of Regan and Dax was a bit lacking compared to previous works in this series. I enjoyed the characters in this book and found it to be a fun summer read.
As Always, Happy Reading!
“4/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
Absolutely loved Dax and Regan’s story!
“There is some sort of connection between us that seems…almost ancient. Like maybe it existed before we were ever created.”
Dax Monahan has known Regan all her life. Her brother was his best friend. As an adult, she’s blossomed from a gawky teenager into a bombshell. When tragedy strikes, he marries her out of necessity. When Dax realises the attraction he feels towards Regan is returned, this marriage of convenience soon becomes something more. However, is either of them ready for a real relationship?
“She’s nowhere near ready for someone like me. And I really don’t think I’m ready for someone like her.”
I adored these two! I loved following their progress from lifelong friends to lovers. I loved how Dax fought against the inevitable only for his alpha, possessive tendencies to rear their fierce heads and make him realise that Regan belongs with him and no one else. Regan is independent, courageous and strong. Their chemistry together was sizzling hot! Wowzers!
I loved this story and catching up with Dax’s teammates, and can’t wait to read the next novel in the series.
This is the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance series but as each book covers a different couple this can be read on a stand alone basis.
As with all the books in this series, I find it really easy to lose myself in the story. It flowed well, it was a nice easy read with just the right amount of drama and the story held my attention throughout. What I liked about this book in particular was the characters; Dax and Regan are characters that you just want to get behind and see them get their HEA. For some reason though, I just felt that the romance and chemistry side of things between them fell a little flat. All in all, though another enjoyable read and I’m really excited for Tacker’s book.
3.5 stars
I was provided with a copy of this book from the Publisher; there was no inducement or obligation and I opted to leave a review.
I think this is by far my favorite of this series! it just keeps getting better and better!!
Dax shows up to see Regan (the sister of his childhood best friend, Lance) at Lance’s apartment in New York after his game. Since Lance was murdered after being mugged, Dax feels there’s something more than just grief going on with Regan. Dax’s and Lance’s families were very close growing up, so Dax has known Regan her whole life. Since Regan lost both her parents when she was 14, Lance & his family are the only people Regan has left.
When Regan lets Dax into the apartment, she tries to stay strong by keeping her emotions in check. Dax knows better and wraps her up in a hug that allows Regan to let loose & cry like she needs to. What Dax doesn’t know is that besides Regan crying over losing her brother, there’s a whole other reason she’s scared and worried.
What comes next, after Regan finally comes clean with her admission, Dax is stunned but goes right into Alpha-Protection-Mode. On one hand, he’s helping Chloe because he knows it’s what Lance would have wanted but on the other, Chloe’s not that little girl from the neighborhood anymore and Dax is seeing her in a whole new light.
I loved their story & we also get to meet Dax’s sister, Willow, who is just a “Pistol!” and will, hopefully, be finding her way into a certain someone’s book very soon!!
If you love this series and these guys as much as I do, don’t miss out on this one; it’s fantastic!
Dax was a whirlwind of emotions! I mean, Regan had already been through a lot, but it appeared that was not about to change now. Dax just wanted to step up for her, though, and oh my gosh, he SO did! The romance was both cute and fun, but there were some much more realistic themes in this novel, too.
I loved that Regan and Dax had known each other since they were children, and that their families had always been close. That just brought a level of real to their relationship, and it made me swoon a little harder.
Their bedroom scenes were scorching, and as always, the Arizona Vengeance hockey players totally lived up to the hype!
This series just gets better and better. I love Dax and Reagan, but I also love the way Bennett intertwines the other characters into each book. I like that you get glimpses into the lives of characters from previous books as well as hints at what characters we may see in the future.
Dax and Reagan are joined in their grief over the death of her brother Logan. Dax steps in to help Reagan and along the way their relationship changes from one of convenience to one of love. You get a front row seat, as they realize they are more than friends and can no longer deny their chemistry. I think Dax is my new favorite Vengeance player (but I say that every time, Bennett ups the ante with each new release). I recommend this book, if you are looking for a sweet, sexy, poignant, and entertaining read. Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Dax is the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance series by talented Sawyer Bennett. It can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading the series since it’s one of my favorites. If you read Erik then you might remember Dax seeing Regan in New York. This is their story and it’s an emotional one. The synopsis kicks ass so I will try my best to make this short.
Dax goes to New York for a funeral and comes back to Arizona as a married man. It was for love in a way. Regan, has always been family to him and now she needed one more than ever. Hers was gone. Lance was gone. So Regan agrees to marry Dax to save her life. Only Dax isn’t the same person Regan grew up with. And Regan isn’t the same either. They were not kids anymore. They were a man and a woman with an attraction between them. One they never saw coming.
Regan didn’t like the idea of getting married for a piece of paper. She always thought it would be for true love. That kind of love that could tear you apart if it ended. That kind of love that movies were made about. Passionate. Forever kind of love. But this marriage was not built on that. It was a need. That was until the kiss after the “I Do’s” because it was a damn good kiss. Maybe, just maybe this marriage can be more if they let it.
Can Dax see her as more than a sister to his best friend? Does he want to settle down or still be a player on and off the ice? Can he see a future with Regan? Can Regan let her insecurities go to find love? Can she see a future with her husband?
I absolutely loved this one. I believe it’s my favorite out of the series! I was invested in the characters from the very beginning until the very end. I read it in one sitting. I didn’t want to put the book down. I loved them. Dax is so sweet, sexy, and protective. He is also confused about what to do and I loved him even more for it. Regan is one strong ass character. She has been through a lot in twenty-two years. She is independent, smart, beautiful inside and out, and sexier than she believes. Together, I fell.
Now, I wait for Tacker! Come on, November!
Quotes:
“You’re going to be one of those bossy, demanding wives, aren’t you?”
It’s hard, swift, and meant to claim.
“Jesus, Regan… you’re learning things awfully damn fast.”
I am a huge Hockey fan and a huge Sawyer Bennett fan and I just cannot get enough of these Arizona Vengeance boys. Each story gets better and better and I love how we get to see so much of the entire team in each one.
“There is some sort of connection between us that seems…almost ancient. Like maybe it existed before we were ever created.”
This connection between Dax & Regan is insane. You can almost feel it through the pages. I loved everything about this story – the heat and steam, the friendship, the love, and everything inbetween! Dax is such a good man who just wants to honor his best friend and take care of his friend’s little sister. But when those sparks start flying watch out! I adored Regan and her strength.
“I can’t tell her the truth– that I want her desperately. That it would be selfish as hell to take her, but I might be willing to risk it all for just a fucking taste of her again.”
I really enjoyed how this story was told at the same time as Legend’s story so we got to see certain occurrences from different viewpoints. And I cannot wait for Tacker’s book! I’m pretty sure it’s going to kill me, but worth every minute! (4.5 stars)
Another enjoyable story by Sawyer Bennett. Dax is a hockey player on the Arizona Vengence team. Regan is the younger sister of one of Dax’s best friends. He was killed by a random mugging so Dax gos to check on Regan. What he finds changes his life, in more ways than one. Ms. Bennett has a wonderful storytelling ability to make the reader become thoroughly enmeshed with the characters she writes about. They become real people to this reader. I always seem to learn something new in her books, and this time was no different. Both Dax and Regan were wonderful characters to get to know, and i once again thoroughly entertained with this story.
Gah, this series is my crack!
I love each and every character (so don’t make me choose) but I do have a sweet spot for Dax, although I suspect Tacker will wipe the floor with everyone else.
We had a hint to where Dax’s story was heading in Legend’s book when Dax heads off to meet the sister of his long-time friend who recently died. What Dax doesn’t expect is to find is that Regan has a serious health condition and no way to keep up with its costly treatment. Sweet man that he is, Dax steps in and saves the day but it’s at a cost that neither he nor Regan are prepared for. Regan is out of options and agrees to Dax’s suggestions in the hope that she can start treatment again soon.
With Dax and Regan living together, their story starts in earnest and whilst Regan is relatively inexperienced around men she more than makes up for her shortfall with her enthusiasm, especially towards Dax.
During this story, we also get to meet Willow, Dax’s sister, and someone who is destined to be a force of nature in this series. She is quick witted and feisty and knows what she wants from her men and that’s definitely not a relationship, or has she just not met the right man yet?
This series is so easy to read and without too much drama. I have loved every character and every story to date and I can’t wait to read on.
Yeah this author continues to impress with her sport romance storytelling. I love how all the Arizona Vengeance stories overlap and intertwine. Each one can be read as a stand-alone but I think you should enjoy them all as a whole (wink).
Regan and Dax’s story really tug on the heartstrings. Their romance starts after some hard hitting events. The loss of a brother and best friend has taken a toll on both of them. Then when you find out more about a health crisis, well plan to have some emotional moments. This definitely a sweet and touching love story with the right amount of sexy. (Haha) Love the underlying theme of resilience and the importance of family.
Happy Reading Everyone!
I read this in one sitting. I couldn’t put this one down until I came to the last page. Dax follows the same time frame as Bishop, Erik and Legend. It has humor, chemistry, sexy hockey players and the women they fall for but most impressively, Dax covers a serious health issue. It is one I had never heard of, but I am now more curious about it. There’s a serious tone in several chapters but it reminds us that these stories reflect real life issues. I encourage you to read the entire Arizona Vengeance books because they are so much fun to finally see what “everyone” else is doing and it doesn’t end there as we are getting glimpses of others and now need to know each of their stories. This Arizona Vengeance series is my absolute favorite and will not disappoint with the fabulous writing. Perfect sports romance that will pull emotions from you when you least expect it.
The Arizona Vengeance is killing it on the ice. But one player can’t seem to keep his eye on the puck—all thanks to the woman he just married to save her life.

Loved this book! Dax and Regan may have gotten married for all the wrong reasons, so to watch their relationship blossom was beautifully written. Another great read in The Vengeance series.
Dax and Reagan, wow. I loved them. His loyalty to Lance was so amazing, even after Lance died. He had no clue how to Reagan’s issue and it almost cost him everything.
Reagan was the absolute sweetest! She is the kind of person who never met a stranger and I loved her for it. How she was able to get Tacker to talk was just brilliant. It wasn’t malicious, just honesty. Gah!!!! I loved, loved, loved it!!!
I need tackers book, yesterday!!!
