The Arizona Vengeance is killing it on the ice. But one player can’t seem to keep his eye on the puck—all thanks to the woman he just married to save her life. “Find your next hockey hero in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series.”—New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis My name is Dax Monahan and hockey is my passion. And if you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass … you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass 24/7. I’ve never had a hard time focusing on my career, but when my past comes knocking, no amount of training can prepare me for what lies on the other side of the door.
Regan Miles was always like a sister to me. When a shared tragedy brings us face to face after several years, I’m shocked to see just how much she’s changed. Gone is the shy, awkward little girl that always used to chase me and her brother around. Instead, I’m faced with a gorgeous woman who makes it damn hard to concentrate on anything but her.
Turns out, she’s in trouble, and the only way out is to get married.
I surprise myself when I tell her to marry me. Order her, actually. And most shocking of all, she doesn’t even hesitate before saying yes.
So it’s settled. We’re getting hitched and she’s moving to Arizona with me. All platonic, of course.
The catch?
I never knew I’d fall so hard for my best friend’s little sister.

Narration by Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose was awesome…with all of the doubts, anger, sadness and wonder of Dax and Regan falling in love the backward way with a long time friend’s offer of help, navigating the ins and outs of that help, as well as the disease that began the ball rolling and finally coming out the other side with a love of a life time. LOVED this book!!!

Dax was the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance series by Sawyer Bennett.
Calvin “Dax” Monahan was a star player for the Vengeance NHL team. He was a veteran and had just lost his best friend from childhood and NHL peer, Lance Miles, unexpectedly in a random murder.
Regan Miles was the little sister to Lance. She lost her parents when she was in high school and her brother had taken over her guardianship. She had known Dax forever so when Dax pushed to help her after Lance’s death, she let him.
Dax was told with a dual POV and the timeframe overlapped with the previous book. I really enjoyed getting to know the mind and heart of both Dax and Regan. They were both likable characters and tugged on my heartstrings. Bennett also tackled a tough medical issue, PNH, which added depth and complexity to the plot. I wasn’t familiar with PNH, but I assume Bennett depicted it fairly accurate.
As a whole, I enjoyed the storyline. It was a little slow for me in parts and had more monologue than I was desiring but neither of those were big deterrents to my enjoyment. Additionally, I would have liked a little more detail with Lance’s death. As two people who were incredibly close to him, catching the murderer would have been a priority in real life. Otherwise, it was well written and well developed. Bennett also set the stage well for the next two books, Tacker and Dominik respectively. I am definitely intrigued and can’t wait!
Another Arizona Vengeance player falls and what a fall, this was a sweet and emotional story that had me crying at times. It’s easy to read and it’s hard to put down.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Plenty of good dialogues
Characters is well described and developed in to realistic personalities
I love the world the author has created in this series, the family feeling all the players have for each other and how they care and support every person when they need it.
Love scenes is as always sweet and hot but still tastefully described.
I look forward to the next person in this series finding their love.
5 lovely stars
I also listened to the audiobook and the narrators is great, clear pronunciation and read with feelings.
OMG! I cannot believe we are already at book four of ‘Arizona Vengeance’ series and it getting better and better 🙂 If you haven’t read any of the books don’t worry, all the books in the series can be read as standalones. But of course I highly recommend you to read them all 🙂
Dax Monahan recently lost his best friend Lance in a common mugging. Lance’s only family is his sister Regan, who also grew up with Dax. When he flew to NY to support and help Regan, Dax is facing with a gorgeous woman, who is nothing like the teenage girl he remembers. Regan lives in Southern California and working as a nurse. Before Lance’s murder, she was planning to go back to school to get her Master’s degree but now everything has change. Since she lost both of her parents when she was a teenager and now his brother, she feels all alone. When she needs someone the most Dax steps up and asks her to marry him so that his medical insurance will cover her ultra expensive treatment. Of course at the beginning Regan is oppose to this idea; however, Dax being Dax finds a way to convince her and move her from California to Arizona. Their chemistry is of the chart but Dax struggles with feeling guilty. He feels like he is betraying Lance and also he thinks he is not good enough for Regan. They both struggle with their emotions when their relationship turns physical but it is to late to go back for both of them. Also, this story’s timeline overlaps with the previous book, Legend. It was nice to see the same events from different POVs and get some more details about the events.
‘Dax’ is a sexy, emotional and sweet friends-to-lovers story. This series getting better and better with each book and I cannot wait to read Tacker and Dominic’s stories. If you enjoy hockey and friends-to-lovers stories and looking for an easy, fun reads, this book is just for you.
Would I recommend this book: Yes.
Would I re-read this book: Yes.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.
*4.5 stars*
Oh the feels…
Grief and worry didn’t keep Regan from carrying on but Dax knew right away there was something wrong. The connection they had over years of friendship meant when Regan was fighting a battle she couldn’t win on her own, Dax was quick to step in and offer his shoulder, himself, to help her…
Dax was an amazing white knight as he shot down every argument Regan had. What she was going through eased but also became more complicated as their lives intertwined in something more than a business arrangement.
I am a huge fan of this author’s hockey romances and the Arizona Vengeance series just keeps on giving the good stuff! While the action this time was more off the ice, the off-season didn’t mean there was less drama or support from the team family. Dax’s sister and the team owner added spice to this emotion-fueled read that had tears as well as joy. I flipped pages like the book was in a wind storm as each page had me falling deeper into the world of Vengeance…
Tacker’s story is next and I am on super stalking mode. More hints and glimpses of what he is going through has me jones-ing for what I’m sure is going to be a tissue-worthy read!

Audiobook Review: Dax (Arizona Vengeance #4) by: Sawyer Bennett (author) Aiden Snow (narrator), Virginia Rose (narrator) –
There are few authors that can get me to read a sports themed story, Sawyer Bennett just became one of them. Dax and Regan set fire to the rain and took my emotions along for the ride. Listening to Snow and Rose wrap their voices around such conflicted people was a heartbreaking experience. It made the characters seem more alive and their emotions totally relatable. I lost my heart a number of times, caught my breath even more, but I could never walk away from such an enthralling journey.
Dax is the first book from the Arizona Vengeance series and the first book from this author. This story centers around Dax and Regan, two people who have known each other most of their lives. When Dax finds out that Regan needs help, he marries her to save her life. I loved following their story to their much deserved HEA. I look forward to reading more of this series.
I really enjoyed this next installment of the Arizona Vengeance. During the previous story, we were introduced to Regan Miles and how Dax knows her when her brother, a hockey player dies. Regan and Dax are both mourning her brother when Dax discovers a secret about Regan and they end up getting married. I loved reading how their lifelong friendship turns into more. You could really tell how important they were to one another. This story runs parallel in the time line to Legend, so you get a brief telling of the events. I thought this was a really sweet story of a friends to lovers book. I can’t wait to read the next book about Tacker!
I received a review copy of this book before release for an honest review.
This story was a bit different than the other ones in the story. Dax is character we have met in other stories, his best friend has been murdered and his best friends sister Regan is left all alone and Dax finds out she is very ill and needs medicine to save her life, she they marry for his medical insurance.
Regan s very young. Only 22 years old and Dax is her older brothers bestie and also a very close family friend. They pretty much grew up together. Neither has been in lust with the other until they get married and then an attraction forms.
This was a fun and fascinating story and while the whole sick storyline was sad, it also really enhanced this story and gave it a depth that I really loved. Dax is VERY hot and the scenes in story were very HOT. I loved seeing more of the Arizona Fury teammates and I also loved the new additions like Dominic and Dax’s sister Willow.
What can I say? Dax!! I have been a fan of this latest hockey series, the Arizona Vengeance by Sawyer Bennett from the very beginning. And in Dax, the 4th book in the series, Ms. Bennett has DEFINITELY kept the awesomeness of the series going.
I WANT A DAX!!! I fell for him from the very first word. After the horrific murder of his best friend, Dax is worried about his little sister, Regan. He has cared about her for most of his life and has thought of her as his own little sister…. Well, maybe not “sister”, you see he has had a bit of a secret crush on her for years. When Dax finds out that Regan is in dire straights due to health issues and lack of insurance, he immediately basically forces Regan into marrying him. In name only. Right?
There is only one problem to Dax’s solution, Regan also has had a secret crush on Dax and cannot figure out how to not have him see her as a little sister. So, Regan reluctantly agrees to Dax’s plan.
OMG!!! The sexual tension!! You can cut it with a knife!!
I really enjoyed seeing some of the other players and their significant others. And Tracker, I CANNOT WAIT TO READ HIS STORY.
I loved every word of Regan and Dax’s story. I only have one complaint. In my opinion, it ended too soon. I got so sucked into the story I just wanted MORE!! But you know what, that is the proof of a good book. I was gifted with a copy of this book for my reading enjoyment, and I could not wait to tell you about this fabulous book.
Thank you for reading my review. What are you waiting for? Go hit that purchase button and start reading this fabulous book. You will not be sorry.

Dax by Sawyer Bennett is the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance series. Even though it can be read as a stand-alone, I do recommend reading the other books as well. I swear each book continues to get better and better and this installment seriously knocks it out of the park! Dax was a fantastic read that was full of emotions. I did shed a tear or two and this story pulled on my heartstrings. But like with all of Ms. Bennett’s stories, it really was so much more than just another romance novel.
I’m going to keep this short and sweet-Dax is a professional hockey player for Arizona Vengeance and it is his entire life. When an unexpected tragedy strikes and he loses his best friend Lance, he is grieving hard. To top it off Lance had a younger sister Regan and she is drowning in sadness. Dax has never looked at her in any other way other than his best friends little sister. But when deeper feelings start to happen he has no idea what to do…
I loved this book so much! I adored the characters and LOVED the storyline. There were some rough topics addressed and Ms. Bennett handled them with class. Dax and Regan had explosive chemistry and the tension between the two was as thick as anything. I highly recommend reading this book!
Dax was even better than I imagined he’d be! I have been intrigued by this sexy, charismatic character from the beginning of the series, and Sawyer Bennett did not disappoint!
I fell in love with Dax almost immediately. He may be a little bit alpha (the best ones usually are) and used to getting his way, but underneath that big, buff hockey player beats a heart of pure gold. The love and loyalty he shows to both his best friend and his best friend’s little sister is beautiful. It proves you don’t have to be blood related to be considered family. Dax is charming, funny, and totally out of his element at times, and it’s definitely fun to watch.
Regan is such an amazing character. Between losing her brother and her medical diagnosis, it would be easy to shut down and not do anything. But she has such a zest for life that she fights to push past all the negatives and achieve the positive things she strives for in her life. She’s independent, determined, and sometimes stubborn, but she’ll always speak her mind and keeps Dax on his toes.
I love watching these two together. Their dynamic changes so quickly from one situation to the next. One thing that is a constant is their chemistry. It’s always like an underlying current zipping between them. In true SB fashion, this story was sexy, steamy, funny, and heartfelt. And I love seeing some of our favorite hockey players make their appearances in the story.
I love hockey and I love this series! I can’t wait to read more from the Arizona Vengeance!
Lance Mile’s little sister Regan is NOT little by any means anymore .. taking care of Lance’s estate and herself isn’t easy being by your self. So when Dax Monaghan shows up to check in on Regan he know.. feels .. something is wrong. Not just her attitude, her demeanor and her looks just don’t sit well with Dax and he doesn’t let her off the hook. When he finds out that Regan has PNH he knows deep down in his heart what he HAS to do .. for his best friend Lance ..
Can the biggest player on the team .. player of woman .. on the Arizona Vengeance buckle down and out his idea in play ?? Will true feelings come through that have ALWAYS been there .. just hidden because Regan is his best friends sister or will her sexy new body she grew into out his mind and heart in jeopardy ??
The energy, the heart and soul poured into these words will make you smile and cry at the same time !! Dax will capture you heart
Way to bring all these players together !! Seeing everyone and what they are going through and still be able to play the game is loving !! Tacker I think is going to break everyone’s heart !!
Once again Sawyer Bennett found a way to hit all the emotions with this story. I laughed, cried, swooned, and cheered all while I learned something new. Dax stole my heart right from the start with his kindness and caring nature not to mention his incredible sexiness. Reagan was a great match for him and you know from the beginning that their crazy marriage of convenience plan is never going to work. Put this one on the must read list, I highly recommend it.
I absolutely love Dax!! He is an absolute sweetheart. I wasn’t a huge fan of Regan for parts of the book but she definitely grew on me. Sometimes I hate to read a book that has any kind of medical stuff in it but this one wasn’t too far off base to be believable. Some minor parts were a stretch but nothing awful. I really can’t say enough how I can’t wait for Tacker’s story.
This book was very personal for me. I do not have PNH, but I do have a chronic, life threatening disease, so I get how Regan feels. I get that she wants to have a normal life, or as normal as her disease allows. I get that people hover over her and drive her crazy. And I get when she feels like cr@p but doesn’t want to worry anyone.
I get the fear Dax feels. My husband has the same fear. I get the need to check on Regan constantly and worrying about her when he’s not around. My husband calls and texts me constantly when either one of us is traveling.
I love seeing Regan accept what God gave her and make the best of it. That is the philosophy I have. I can’t change it, so I’m going to accept it and live my life to the fullest. But I also respect that there are days that aren’t so good and you need to just take day to wallow. Whether it’s about your disease, or something you want to do but can’t, or you just don’t feel good. We all have those days. I love seeing the strength she has and I hope to see more of her.
Now, on to the love story. Although not conventional, it is nevertheless real. It started out as a marriage of convenience, but somewhere along the way it changed. Regan and Dax work well together. His family completely accepts her as is and supports her no matter what. And I love her interactions with Willow. I hope we will have more Willow in the future.
I am in love with this series! Sawyer always does such a great job with her storylines. But I’m really impressed with the health issues the heroine has to deal with. Bennett’s writing was flawless! I really can’t wait to see where she takes this series next!
Dax and Regan are amazing…I love love love this story. It’s got heart, hockey and hotties!
Dax is a playboy, but when his friends kid sister needs helps he steps up to the plate in a big way.
Regan is having a hard go at life right now and Dax stepping into save her is not ideal, but she needs him. They have known each other for all their lives, but how they navigate thru this next chapter will surprise them more then it surprises everyone else.
MUST READ!

“Despite everything….she’s still the surest thing in my life.”
Sawyer Bennett steals hearts once again with this fourth installment in her HIGHLY ADDICTIVE Arizona Vengeance series!!!
THE PREMISE:
Arizona Vengeance player Dax Monahan is devastated when his best friend, Lance, is tragically killed during a random mugging. Shortly thereafter he checks in on Lance’s little sister, Regan Miles, because he sensed that something is off with her in the few times he’s talked with her since the funeral. And yowza the adorably shy, gawky girl who used to follow him and Lance around is all grown up, and even through his cloud of grief, he can’t help but notice how she has transformed into one stunningly beautiful woman!
Lance had been her sole guardian ever since their parents died when she was a teenager. But unbeknownst to Dax, Regan has been secretly battling a serious illness these past few years, and the cost of the life-saving medication was so astronomical it put her brother in serious debt before he died. Now without his medical insurance, she can no longer cover the costs of the treatments. So, what’s Dax to do upon learning the news that his best bud’s baby sis is in dire straits? Why pop the question of course! The take-charge hockey player insists on marrying Regan so he can add her to his health insurance plan, and even though she does not want to be a burden to him, she eventually accepts his generous proposal and agrees to relocate from California to Arizona. Her only caveat to this unconventional union? That they wed in secret!
He agrees to her terms and they exchange vows in a clandestine courthouse wedding, which culminates in a hot AF kiss that rocks both their worlds! Although Dax and Regan vow to keep the marriage in name only, their magnetic attraction cannot be contained and these crazy in lust newlyweds find themselves swept up in the throes of a wild night of mind-blowing passion! However with so much on the line, they BOTH have second thoughts about consummating the union yet still can’t keep their hands off each other! Against all odds, can this fake marriage blossom into the love of a lifetime?
MY MUSINGS:
DAX is chock full of my favorite tropes—hockey/MOC/best friends little sister… with a dash of forbidden love thrown into the mix! I swear, I fall harder for the Arizona Vengeance players which each subsequent book. Oh, and it’s worth noting that this storyline overlaps with book three so while it can certainly stand alone, for continuity purposes I do advise that you read LEGEND first.
DAX is equal parts lighthearted, heartfelt AND heartbreaking, and I RELISHED the captivating sparks between the MCs! Dax and Regan are absolutely delightful together and the fact that these two lifelong family friends have such a rich backstory really gives their coupling built in rooting value from the get-go. Sawyer Bennett pens the swooniest –and SEXIEST–hockey heroes and Dax just made me melt into a pile of goo. This uber protective alpha male was just so kind and honorable, fiercely loyal and innately loving, and had a huge heart of freaking gold! While he had not envisioned surrendered his bachelor card anytime soon in exchange for a white picket fence, he is a guy who steps up and rolls with the punches! I adored how sweet and chivalrous he was with Regan and how he went above and beyond to care for her in her time of need. And HOLY HOTNESS when he morphed from doting hubby into full throttle commando caveman, I was on cloud nine!
And Regan endeared herself to me from the onset! The sweet, caring nursing student sure had her share of tragedy and hardship in her life, which she faced with strength, spirit and infinite grace. And I was particularly moved by her unflinching courage in the face of her grief over her brother as well as her valiant struggle with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), a debilitating, and incredibly rare, blood disorder. She never felt sorry for herself or wallowed, yet due to past hurt and rejection she’s understandably built a self-protective wall around her vulnerable heart which made me empathize with her even more. But hard as she tried to fight it, her love for Dax was undeniable!
While this couple falls into bed fairly quickly—and there’s not a ton of romantic angst— it still takes a while for these two to trust in a future together because, due to the terms of their secret marital arrangement, and Regan’s precarious medical condition, they are reluctant to confess what’s truly in their hearts. As expected, the erotic interludes are scorching hot and deliciously tantalizing, and there’s plenty of sizzling sexual tension and aching emotion to make our hearts soar. Overall, this love story resonates deeply, and is capped off with an incredibly romantic and exquisitely tender HEA that had me BLINKING BACK TEARS!
In addition to crafting a beautiful and sensual sports romance that pulsates with red hot passion and heart-gripping feels, Ms. Bennett did a STELLAR job of realistically delving into some serious, real-life issues, including dealing with the loss of a loved one and the financial and emotional tolls of coping with a dangerous illness.
And as with all the books in this series, the Arizona Vengeance teammates played a key role in this installment. I loved the camaraderie between the players, who always band together through thick and thin, and enjoyed the updates of our past AV book couples. And as a MAJOR TACKER GROUPIE, I was thrilled to get more glimpses of him and am chomping at the bit for this taciturn tortured soul’s story to finally unfold in the next installment! Plus, the author plants the seeds for the final Arizona Vengeance book, featuring Willow and Dominik!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Dax Monahan is a hockey player for the Arizona Vengeance. Hockey is his life and he loves it. When his long time best friend dies, he gets reacquainted with his friends little sister, Regan Miles. Regan has not only just lost her brother, but she’s dealing with something monumental and doesn’t know what she’s going to do without her brothers help. When Dax finds out, he insists that they get married. What starts out as a marriage of convenience soon turns into so much more. I really enjoyed getting to see who Dax really was and thought Regan was an awesome female character. Now, I’m ready to get Tackers story! Ha ha. I’m pretty sure I’ve said that at the end of each Vengeance book.
