The Arizona Vengeance is killing it on the ice. But one player can’t seem to keep his eye on the puck—all thanks to the woman he just married to save her life. “Find your next hockey hero in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series.”—New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis My name is Dax Monahan and hockey is my passion. And if you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass … you want to succeed in this sport you have to bust your ass 24/7. I’ve never had a hard time focusing on my career, but when my past comes knocking, no amount of training can prepare me for what lies on the other side of the door.
Regan Miles was always like a sister to me. When a shared tragedy brings us face to face after several years, I’m shocked to see just how much she’s changed. Gone is the shy, awkward little girl that always used to chase me and her brother around. Instead, I’m faced with a gorgeous woman who makes it damn hard to concentrate on anything but her.
Turns out, she’s in trouble, and the only way out is to get married.
I surprise myself when I tell her to marry me. Order her, actually. And most shocking of all, she doesn’t even hesitate before saying yes.
So it’s settled. We’re getting hitched and she’s moving to Arizona with me. All platonic, of course.
The catch?
I never knew I’d fall so hard for my best friend’s little sister.

Awesome Story & NarrationLoving & Heartfelt!
Dax
Arizona Vengeance, Book 4
By: Sawyer Bennett
Narrated by: Aiden Snow, Virginia Rose
Sawyer Bennett does it again, she delivers another amazing novel in her Arizona Vengeance series. I am loving this series and the wonderful characters and their storylines. It is great to see another player fall hard for a woman. This is Dax Monahan and Regan Miles’ story, the two have known each other for years. Dax was best friends with her older brother Lance. Lance is murdered and Dax goes to see her, she tells him everything Lance did for her. Then Dax takes it upon himself to do the same, he will take care of her including marrying to save her life. Marriage in name only was the plan but he soon finds out Regan is not the little girl he remembers and that plan soon goes out the window. I loved how everything plays out in this book, there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, a bit of angst, some heartfelt moments and the start of a great romance. It is also great to catch up with other members of the team. Sawyer Bennett, thank you for another awesome story and for bringing awareness to PNH.
I listened to the Audible edition, Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose are fantastic narrators and voice artists. They did an amazing job portraying the characters and bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured the characters emotions and projected into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank your for this great listen
Oh my god this book has me teary eyed at the end. I kind of suspected the outcome in the end but it didn’t take away from the magic of the story. I suffer from a disease that is not curable but maintained by a very expensive drug that I have to take monthly so I know how hard it is in relationships when you have a hurdle. You never know where you stand. Their story is sweet and amazing. I loved every minute of it and I would definitely recommend it.
Dax just recently lost his best friend to an accidental mugging and ever since the funeral, Dax has been worried about Lance’s sister Regan. Dax knows that there is something wrong but just can not put his finger on it so he confronts Regan and makes her tell him what is wrong. Regan lets Dax know that she is suffering from a rare blood decease and can not afford the medication now that Lance is gone. In a snap decision, Dax convinces Regan to marry him so that she can get his benefits and her life-saving medication. Regan moves to Arizona with Dax to keep their marriage legit and figures while she is there she might as well try to get Dax to truly notice her the way she has always wanted him to notice her.
Sawyer Bennett again brought us another great hockey romance. Dax and Regan’s story was emotional, fun and steamy. It was interesting following Dax’s struggle with trying to come to terms that he was good enough for Regan and finally letting their love blossom.
Dax is the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance series by Sawyer Bennett which can be read as a standalone or as part of the Arizona Vengeance series and is written from the point of view of Dax and Regan. I recommend this novel and give Dax 5 stars.
Book 4 in the Arizona Vengeance series, asking me to pick my favorite so far would be like asking me to pick my favorite chocolate bar, I just couldn’t choose, each is delicious in their own way. But Dax was so swoon-worthy, I loved this story.
Falling for your best friends little sister.
Dax is a star player for the Arizona team and goes to visit his recently deceased best friends sister while in town for a game, Dax discovers that Regan has a serious illness and now that her brother has died she is struggling, her brother’s medical insurance used to pay for her bills.
Regan Miles is no longer the teenager Dax remembers and he is instantly attracted to her but also his brotherly instincts he always had for her kicks in and he persuades her to marry him and move in with him so her insurance and treatment is covered. No spoilers there it’s all in the blurb for this book but the journey from bother/sisterly love, the chemistry between them both and the journey to love is heartwarming and a story that must be read.
Lovable characters, hot in all the right places, a compelling plot making this another brilliant book in this addictive series.
I am looking forward to more, there are hints along the way to what is going on in the lives in the other players, some already have their own books so it’s great hearing from previous characters and some such as Tacker struggling with his grief and Dax’s sister are yet to be told and both these books that are coming next have me excited and looking forward to reading them.
If you love hockey or sports romance then this is a must-read series.
Told in first person dual pov and leads to a hea.
Woot! Another Sawyer Bennett hockey hottie to add to my collection!
If you have read the earlier books in this series, you will have already met Dax – if you haven’t – why not?? You are missing some awesomeness.
Dax kind of runs parallel to the previous book Legend, and it was wonderful to see some of the stuff from Legend’s book from another perspective.
Dax is my kinda man. Takes no sh!t, looks after those he loves – even if it is in a very alpha way – and just took my heart with him when the book ended.
This book is an emotionally draining book at times, as Dax and Regan navigate their way to their new “them”. I laughed, I shed a couple of tears, I got frustrated and angry and hopeful as well.
We also get more set up for Tacker’s story -this is the one I am really, really hanging out for, as well as Dominik’s story. Oh, this one is going to be a fiery one me thinks!
Each and every time I pick up a Vengeance book, I tell myself it can’t be as good as the last one, however Ms Bennett has not disappointed me yet.
Gimme, gimme, gimme Dominik and Tacker’s books now – please. I need them in my life!
This is the fourth book in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series and I do believe it’s my new favorite! Every book in this series can be read alone, but is artfully intertwined so characters from previous books interact seamlessly alongside new ones. This marriage of convenience/best friend’s sister story is lead by Dax & Regan and they’re a delightfully sweet & sexy pairing. Dax’s sister Willow was just introduced & I’m already dying to read her story as well as the long awaited Tacker’s. Don’t miss this series!
Loved this storyline and loved the characters.
Loved Dax and Regan.
Heartwarming story of two life long friends who came together again after the death of Lance, Daxs best friend and brother to Regan.
Regan is suffering a life threatening illness and Dax marries her so she can have his insurance cover for her life saving treatment. Although he has always loved her as a friend they become close and realize they want the real husband and wife thing to work as they’ve secretly fallen in love with each other along the way.
This is a beautiful story and worth more than 5
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
Dax was the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance series by Sawyer Bennett and is a great best friend’s little sister/ friends to lovers sports romance.
I love a good best friend’s little sister story and add in the sports romance aspect and I’m sold!
I have happy to see that this story had all the elements of what I enjoy about Sawyer Bennett’s books – engaging plot, on point banter, just the right amount of angst and of course super duper hawt sexy times. Dax and Regan’s story was emotional and from them having known each other for years and growing up together I have very much invested in seeing what happens when the friendship line blurs and becomes so much more.
The narrators Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose were outstanding. I do love confident voices with good pacing in their delivery
This a great addition to the series and I cannot wait to listen to the next book in the series to get my next Arizona Vengeance fix!
Readers familiar with Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance, who have been with the the players and the author since Bishop was released know quite a bit about Bennett’s newest leading man, Dax Monahan. In fact, because Dax and Regan’s story occurs pretty much concurrently with Legend and Pepper’s book, some of the groundwork has already been laid when it comes to how Dax finds himself a married man and what his future could potentially look like if he has anything to say about it.
Despite Dax’s player status, once he committed himself to helping Regan and then started to understand that she was no longer a little girl or Vance’s younger sister, but a beautiful woman who has had more heartache than a woman her age should have to deal with, so if he can make things easier on her, support her in the ways that she needs, he can honor Regan’s brother while perhaps realizing he is, in fact, husband material.
Regan’s a fighter; she’s had to be since her teens when she lost both of her parents, but now she’s truly fighting for her life, and while she’s used to doing things on her own and feeling the loneliness that comes along with not being surrounded by family who love her, but that’s no longer the case, and while Dax may be a bit too alpha and domineering at times, it’s clear that she’ll never have to worry with him by her side.
The progression of Dax and Regan’s relationship – from family friends to husband and wife to lovers to something both exhilarating and confusing – at times, seems seamless, even though the marriage is supposed to be fake because it’s clear that deep feelings exist between these two; they just need the courage to see where their new feelings will take them.
Dax and Regan’s book not only focuses on witnessing these two acclimate to their new normal, to their new feelings for each other, to their way of coping with the changes as Dax works to understand what he wants and needs as a man and as a husband, but readers also gain a deeper understanding of just how much Tacker continues to struggle with grief and guilt and what hitting rock bottom means for the captain of the Vengeance.
I appreciate the fact that Sawyer Bennett didn’t add anymore unnecessary drama to what is already an overwhelming situation for both Regan and Dax as well as the Arizona Vengeance, and while I was frustrated and disheartened at times, I knew that even though everything didn’t follow a linear path and there were far reaching obstacles, Dax and Regan knew that the struggle was worth it if it meant that they could be the couple they were meant to be.
Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose were fantastic narrators; they voiced Dax and Regan’s perspectives with passion, conveying the emotions of the hero and heroine and providing a voice to everything the characters were thinking throughout the course of the story.
4 Poison Apples
This is the fourth in the Arizona Vengeance series but can be read as a stand alone because I have not read the others and was not lost at all. Dax is a professional hockey player and his best friend just died and his sister Regan needs insurance for her medicine to save her life so Dax proposes getting married until she can get insurance what happens in the meantime is a hot and sweet love story. I listened to the audio version of this. The narration was spot onThis is the first book I have read by Sawyer Bennett but will definitely not be my last. I highly recommend this.
I received a copy of this from the author for a honest review
Dax can absolutely be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend this whole series!! Regan is the little sister of Dax’s best friend. And when his best friend passes away-he feel’s it falls on him to make sure Regan is taken care of. Not only because he loves her like family but because it’s the right thing to do. And when he finds out she truly needs his help, his solution is a marriage in name only. Even though he is has, what he feels, are inappropriate thoughts about her. Regan knows she needs the help, she just isn’t sure this is the right way to go about it. But she doesn’t feel like she has a choice, and she knows she can count on Dax. What she never plans on is for her feelings for him to morph into something altogether different.
I absolutely loved this story!! Dax and Regan are beyond sweet together and there is most definitely the hotness factor that you come to expect in a Sawyer Bennett book too. Regan is going through something that no one should have to go through. And the way Dax reacts to it is beyond what you would truly expect, but it just goes to show how much depth and love he is truly capable of. The narration is absolutely great to listen to. There aren’t any strange accents and I truly enjoyed the dual narration. It made it seem more like an actual story from two different points of view instead of just trying to imagine it that way with the same voice. And Aiden Snow’s voice in some of the love scenes? Extremely HOT!! I loved every second of it! And after reading this one, I can’t wait for Thacker and Dominik’s stories!!
I really enjoyed this friends to lovers/best friend’s brother storyline. The beginning of Dax and Reagan’s relationship might not be conventional, yet sparks fly from the get go. While navigating through their situation they learn what started innocently turns into something amazing. Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose’s performance in this audiobook elevated this story to another level, bringing life to these characters. I absolutely love this Arizona Vengeance Series and can’t wait for Tacker’s book. I highly recommend this audiobook.
I’m not sure how Sawyer Bennett does it, but with each book she writes in her Arizona Vengeance, she makes me fall even more in love with this series. She has created a world I never wanted to leave. She has a magical way of writing a complete stand-alone – woven intricately into the entire series she has created. Sawyer writes characters that are so real, you wish you could meet them in person. Her talent as an author makes the scenes on the pages come to life. With each chapter I read, I fell deeper in love with not only Dax and Regan, but all of the side characters as well.
Dax is the fourth book in this series. He is a fierce hockey player who is a take-charge kind of guy. He has a reputation for playing hard both on and off the ice. But when his best friend’s little sister is in need, he steps up, without hesitation. Even though his decisions might scare the pants off him, he’s not about to shrink from responsibility.
Regan has just lost her brother when a life-long family friend comes to check-inn. Her entire world is crumbling apart, and she has no choice but to take Dax up on his offer. She knows she feels more for him than she should, but will Dax be able to see what they have beyond his obligation.
This book made me feel all the feels. Not only was I invested in Dax and Regan, but each and every interaction with past and future characters from the series was written in such a spectacular way, my heart soared, was ripped to shreds, and somehow put back together again. Sawyer Bennett is phenomenal at writing Dax’s story. I devoured it in nearly one sitting.
The best part about reading this book is that I know this series won’t be coming to an end any time soon. Thank you, Sawyer, for hours of entertainment. After learning more about Tacker, I can’t wait to see what you do next.
PS – Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose do a fantastic job of narrating this story. They bring Sawyer’s world to life and make it an even better experience.
I loved this book/listen and this story hit home. Regan Miles and Dax Monahan have been friends for Regans life and then when life comes in the middle of everything Dax decides to “take care “ of Regan. This was a great couple and I could not stop reading/listening until I finished the book. This was the first book in this series that I read/listened to so know I have to go back and read other books from this series.
You are going to love this story… with a Vengeance! 5 Stars! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Dax & Regan have known each other since birth. So when tragedy happens & Dax sees her for the first time as a woman he is awestruck & goes alpha protective on her. They have sizzling chemistry & a slow burning love. You gotta love those Hockey Players!
This is my first story by Sawyer Bennett and I will be back for more.
Audible Narration was perfectly chosen smooth voices.
I know I’ve said it before, and I know I’ll say it again…Sawyer Bennett is THE utmost author of hockey gods. There are no hockey gods quite as wonderful, sexy, sweet, commanding, and heart stopping as those she has written in this series and her Cold Fury Hockey series.
Most of the first half of this story runs concurrent with the previous story, Legend. So we not only get to delve into what was happening in Dax’s life while Legend was finding his true love, we also get to see another angle to the Tacker story.
Regan’s story will just break your heart. That woman has been through more loss and difficulty than is fair for one person to have to endure. Dax has known Regan her whole life. She’s his best friend’s little sister and has always been around. When Regan is left with no family and too many problems to count, Dax can’t turn his back. Even when Regan tries to get him to, Dax is not going to back down. Sure, it feels good to be the white knight, but he also cares about Regan and would do anything to honor his deceased best friend.
Although she’s still quite young, there are things that have happened to Regan that have basically made her feel she is not the type of person who is meant to have a long and meaningful relationship. She’s very independent and does not want to burden anyone with her issues. Between Dax feeling guilty for wanting his best friend’s sister (even though said best friend is no longer with us) and Regan’s feelings of inadequacy when it comes to love, these two have some major communication problems. I spent a good deal of this story just wanting them to talk it out! They were clearly meant to be together. They fit together like two puzzle pieces from the first kiss. They just needed to get out of their own heads.
As I mentioned earlier, we get to see another side to the Tacker saga in this story. I am gutted by that man and I’m looking forward to him finding the light at the end of the dark tunnel he’s been traveling. On top of that, there is an interesting development with Dax’s sister, Willow, and a possible love interest. That should be a lot of fun. Willow will not go down the love and marriage aisle easily, and her beau (no spoilers!) is not one to take no for an answer. The author has set up the next few stories beautifully and has me panting for more.

Hockey has always been the only thing Dax concentrates on. When his best friend Lance dies Lance’s sister Regan is left without the one person who knows her secret but also is her only source of support. Once Dax learns of her illness he steps up and marries her in order to keep her insured. But can the two keep the relationship platonic? Or will the sparks that fly move them from a marriage of convenience to a marriage worth fighting for. With beautifully written characters that have to hit rock bottom before they can fly and a storyline that had me hooked from the opening chapters this was a great read. I now need to go back and read the rest of the series.
Hockey games are becoming my favorite novels and they are addictive. However, the great thing about Sawyer Bennet’s books is that they really talk about more than sports. The characters are more deep and have conflicts and stories that the sport itself is just a complement of their path.
Dax and Regan have known each other for forever since they were neighbors and their families were connected. She lost her parents at a young age and her brother (Dax’s best friends) became her guardian. Now, her brother was murdered in a horrible robbing and she is on her own. Dax will not tolerate it even so because she has a secret. He steps in (even if he is not prepared and fully mature) and their story began…
Dax and Regan are two young adults that are facing more than their young age prepares them to face.
When Dax is facing his care and love towards Regan he has doubts, but he never back-down and is really sweet. The book is so great and shows how you can form a family of friends and community and sometimes you just need to face your fears. I just loved it!!
I love the Vengence series!
Dax, has just lost his best friend, and an old team mate, to a random mugging.
Lance and Regan, lost both their parents when they were young.
Lance became Regan’s, guardian and had put in his will that Dax, was to care for her if something happened to him.
Their families had grown up together and when Regan, confides in him, that she has a life threatening disease that cost $40k a year, to get the proper medicine and no longer has insurance or the means to pay the out of pocket expenses, he does the only thing he knows it’s right. He married her.
It’s supposed to be on paper only, so she can get the insurance and he will help her financially to get the treatment she so desperately needs.
Regan, has always had a crush on Dax.
Dax, can’t help but notice how beautiful Regan, had become.
As things heat up, they start to fall for each other and the brother sisterly love they have for each other, starts to blossom into something a lot deeper.
Not sure how I am going to wait for the next two books.
Not sure who I’ll door for in the cup series the Cold Fury or the Vengence. It just may tear me apart if they both get there.
I also recommend the audable too. It was well done.
Emotionally beautiful journey to go on with Dax and Regan. Dax may have been a playboy but Regan still his heart when he steps in to help her. I adored their witty banter, their fiery chemistry, and their overall connection. Everyone deserves a man like Dax in their corner. I am loving this series. I enjoyed every single second of this book.
