Will the DawnKing come to defeat the darkness?
Wow, was this really the last of the Tales Of Faeraven series? I mean, I really wanted to see the villain finally get his, I’ve cheerfully hated him through three previous books and now this one, but I’m also sorry to say goodbye to friends both old and new. Many questions are answered, though I still had a couple when finished the book, as the tale comes full circle.
One of the things that I liked best about this book was that we finally get to learn a little more about some of the fae people who inhabit Janalyn Voigt’s vivid storyworld. Like the previous books, DawnKing is a full-color and imaginative world filled with creatures and people of all kinds. The magical elements are well balanced with the medieval inspired setting and the faith aspect.
To me, DawnKing had the clearest Bible retelling of all the books. I knew from the beginning who Emmerich represented but it was most obvious in this final book. However, you still have a story that is entertaining, full of adventure and romance, but avoids being preachy.
Whether you have a child in need of some good reading, want to read the book(s) aloud to your family, or if you yourself enjoy fantasy tales, the Tales Of Faeraven have you covered. It’s an excellent series and one that I would not hesitate to recommend.
With DawnKing being the end of a series I wonder where the talented pen of Janalyn Voigt may take us next…

Tales of Faeraven #4

*REVIEW*
It seems like I’ve been reading this series for the longest time when, in actuality, it hasn’t been that long. You get comfortable and familiar with continuing stories, and it’s always a bit sad to reach the end. DawnKing, the fourth and final book of Janalyn Voigt ‘s Tales of Faeraven, offers a well written and emotionally satisfying wrap for the numerous characters and separate storylines that have carried throughout this series. I always worry about loose ends, but the conclusion of this epic quest did not feel undone. Overall, this story is thrilling, dramatic and thought provoking with courageous sincere characters. It has been my pleasure to read each book, and I recommend for anyone looking to start a new series in the new year.
In the fourth and final book in her Tales of Faeraven series, Janalyn Voigt weaves a story of a group of people split apart, surrounded by danger, and all trying to arrive at once destination. Their journeys differ and as they find each other and lose each other as their journeys continue, the suspense of when anything will go well for this group of people kept me reading. Well, that and I really wanted to see Kai get his HEA!
While the title suggests readers might see more of Emmerich in this book, it wasn’t until the three-quarter mark he makes his appearance. But what an appearance it is. From the previous books, it was pretty obvious what his role would be in the climax of the series, it is still moving.
With so many characters and a ton of action throughout four books, there is always a lingering concern that a storyline or plot point will be dropped along the way. I was pleased to find that Voigt managed to resolve everything I’ve been following since book one. Plus, she did it in a way that left me satisfied with the end results.

It’s wonderful to read a fantasy book again. I loved it as a child and find that I still enjoy the genre.
This book is full of action and adventure. This is the conclusion of the war between the Kindren and the Elder. The story is told from several points of view. I liked seeing how all of their parts fit into the puzzle of the plot.
The series has a happy-ever-after ending that was great to read. There were a couple of people that I hoped would come back together. I was satisfied and had no complaints how everything wrapped up.
