I really enjoyed this book.
This is book one in the Tess Winett series, I joined the series at book three and have loved everyone so far so thought I would go back to the begin and I am so glad I did this was a great book to add to my collection and I loved finding out how Tess and the rest of the team got together. It also proves you don’t need to read/listen to this series in order to enjoy.
FBI agent Tess Winnett has one more chance to prove to her boss that she is a team player and can work with others or she losses the one thing she has worked her whole life to earn, her badge. With time ticking away before a sadistic killer kills his next victim Tess has to pull out all the stops. So hold on tight and enjoy every twist and turn this story takes as it take you on a roller coaster ride.
The narrator was easy to listen to and the hours just flew by as it hurtles to the conclusion.
Leslie Wolf did an excellent job with this book. From the opening scene to the closing and all the “WTH just happened” in between. She will keep you submerged and fighting for breathe throughout the story. Her female lead was easy to connect with. Looking forward to more from this series!Overall an excellent story would suggest to anyone who likes this genre.
“This is my first audio I have ever completed”
I found the narrator easy to listen to, and he did a great job of putting emotion into the characters and bringing me into a scene. I was easily able to get lost into the story – which is a requirement for any good read.
I was honestly shocked that I found myself easily lost in this audio book. I had tried a couple audio books a few years ago and UGH, I honestly was not happy with the narrator. It sort of turned me off on the whole idea of audio. I listened to a sample of Todd Waites narrating and I had a credit soooo – I thought what the heck. I am glad I did. He did an excellent job of narration. He had me there, in the scene, feeling every emotion and even gave me the chills. I could picture everything – suggest reading in the morning hours 🙂
I would have loved to have the opportunity to listen to this whole book in one sitting. Sadly, this was not the case. But I did set aside a couple hours at a time so that I did not lose the flow and was still able to feel a connection to the characters. This worked out well for me.
I really enjoyed this book couldn’t put it down until I finished
I absolutely loved this book, this was my 1st book by the author, definitely not my last.
The author Leslie Wolfe consistently delivers stories that are entertaining and keeps the reader very engaged.
Ms Wolfe writes the most exciting books. They take you a!ong for a breath taking trip. Very hard to find a stopping point until the book is done.
As good as any in the genre… enjoyed it thoroughly…
Loved the way this book is written. It is not the usual writing you expect from many female authours.Love her other books too.
This was a completely satisfying story that kept the tension high throughout.
This is an entertaining and disturbing thriller, so listener beware! If you are a fan of Criminal Minds and similar stories, you will love this book.
A young couple sneak out of their homes to meet on the beach to watch the sunrise. Instead, they find a horrific sight: a beautiful young woman, strategically placed in a kneeling position and posed in death.
The case is soon taken over by an aggressive FBI agent, Tess Winnets, who is wracked by PTSD after an attack many years ago. Tess is known for her abrupt manner and disdain for the FBI’s rules, but also for her case solving ability. She is paired with a local detective and the rest of Miami’s PD to find out who “Dawn Girl” really is and to find her killer.
The story is fast paced, the characters are believably flawed, and the action is non-stop. If you are disturbed by the thought of sexual predators or serial killers, you need to steer clear of this book. There are some disturbing things that are described (although most of that comes from the reader’s imagination, not the extensive descriptions!). The author does a great job with really drawing you into the story and making you feel the emotions of the characters.
Parts of the story are predictable, but there is enough intrigue to make the reader want to hurry to reach the end and see what happens. The narrator does a great job and added a lot to my listening enjoyment. He varies his voices enough to let you know who is talking and his depiction of women is well done, not annoying like some narrators.
I was given the opportunity to listen to the Audible version of this book by the author/publisher/narrator and chose to review it.
Loved how the ending turned out. Not what I expected. Good for Tess Winnett
Fantastic book! This book made me lose sleep because I didn’t want to put it down and turn out the light. The characters were well-developed and the writing was strong. I saw a “too gruesome” comment, and yeah, this isn’t a light-hearted book, but it is not THAT gruesome. Okay, look, it’s about a serial killer. What would you expect? Someone else said “predictable” and that could be slightly true, but not overly. I’m a pretty fussy reader and I really enjoyed this book. I like to refer to books as “thinking books” (books that make you think) and this would fall into that category. Plus the grammar and punctuation were correct, so that scored points for me.
This was the first of what appears to be a trilogy. The characters were well-developed and the theme certainly believable. I like this so much that I purchased three more of Wolfe’s novels from Amazon. I think you will enjoy her writing.
fast paced. great read
A rivating plot, with Tess a FBI agent to figure out and soon realizes that he has killed before, and the hunt begins. This girl beautiful on a lonely beach, where are the others. A good thriller once again by the author, and the superb narration by Todd added to the story enjoyment. Given audio for my voluntary review
Love this author. Book very interesting
Well written. Enjoyed it.
Quick read, interesting story line.
Page turning action…non stop..! Must read..!
If you’re seeking a good “who-dunnit”, this is a good book. Kept me up the entire day/part of the night to see who the bad actors were. SURPRISE ending!!
