This fifth installment of the Texas Romance series focuses on the three youngest daughters. Henry Buckmeyer has his hands full with these mischievous daughters. Their shenanigans kept me turning the pages. Never a dull moment in the Buckmeyer household!
Recommend to readers who enjoy inspirational, historical family sagas.
I won a copy. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
This was a fun continuence in the series. After their older sister runs off to marry someone their father didn’t approve of, Gwendolyn, CeCe and Bonnie agree to be true daughters and never go against their father in marriage or dating… even though there is no courting until they are 18. Three young men come into the picture and with them comes some drama, intrigue and suspense. It all shakes out well in the end though.
While you could read as a standalone, I believe it would make much more sense if you read the series in order. There are a lot of characters that carry over from book to book.
The narrator did a good job.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author and I am voluntarily leaving this review.
So much going on at once, and the dramatic teenage love troubles, left me both laughing a bit confused. I thought the narrator did fairly well, but when the slave girl’s narration was the slave girl’s voice, I just didn’t understand that. Most of the characters had the same rise and fall even though the voices were different, it made them sound too similar.
I thought I had read or listened to the stories prior to this one in this series, but I still felt like I was missing some key components.
This fifth book of the series is just as good as the ones before it. I loved getting to know the characters of Gwendolyn, Cecelia, and Bonnie, as well as their suitors. The girls had to overcome sibling rivalry and jealousy but loved each other through it all. This story also shows how the past can sometimes have consequences in the present. I would definitely recommend this book.
I was given a PDF copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed reading Daughters of the Heart. I became confused a couple of times by the inner dialogue of the characters, but with a re-read I figured out who was doing, saying, or thinking – what. The story line and characters are entertaining. I recommend this book and am looking forward to other stories by this author.
The stories of the sister who fall in love and whose father lays down the law of them not being engaged until they are 18 years old or older. Fun twists and turns as they find their true loves in a life on a ranch with a rich father.
I enjoyed this book, it was true to the era. The book was easy to read and I didn’t want to put it down because the story line was so good. The daughters of the book were so devoted to their Dad. Their love for family and others was an inspiration to me as a reader.
