She has the power to stop time. He just became her reason to restart it.There’s only one thing Kadence has ever wanted—to leave the painful life she’s been forced to endure, and join her father in Olympus. When Kronos comes to her with a mission, Kadence seizes the opportunity to use her demigod powers to earn the right to go to him. All she has to do is figure out who’s messing with people’s … out who’s messing with people’s timelines. Good people are dying before they should, others are living beyond their allocated minutes. But as fates are irrevocably changed and darkness appears at every turn, Kadence finds herself wondering—is the world even worth saving?
Her only ray of hope is Micah, a guy with no past or family. Mysterious, philosophical, and confidently optimistic, Micah shows Kadence that for any light to be seen, darkness must be present. For the first time, love has Kadence doing something she’d never imagined…believing.
It’s when her world of demigod responsibilities collides with the darkness she’s fighting that Kadence must make a choice. Does she still want to go to Olympus if it means leaving Micah behind?
And when the unthinkable happens—how will she use her powers?
Because Kadence has the ability to stop time. It’s whether she wants to restart it that will become the question.

Holy cliffhanger! I am still reeling from the last few pages. I was first interested because I wanted to see how the childen of greek gods would be living on Earth. Not Hercules, over rated, but getting to see who else is out there and have it be in a current setting. Not disappointed.
Being able to stop time can have major consequences, and Kadence would know. It isn’t just getting somewhere on time or stopping something bad from happening. Every action has a reaction. How can you keep light and darkness balanced, when you cant use the one power you have?
A combination of genres that I like to read; Something about gods and their powers, a romance and a message.
I had to get into the book for a while but after the first chapters it was difficult to put it down.
Everything in the world just doesn’t seem to be going the way it always was. As if time runs differently so that one person gets something just in time and the other was short of time. Kronos tries to discover why the wheels of time runs different and asks his daughter, semi god Kadence to take a look. She wants that, but when she has helped to rebalance the time, she wants to live with him in Olympus. To the question whether she will leave no one behind on earth, her answer is no. But then she meets Micah

I LOVED this book. Once you start reading it, you can’t put it down. The characters were great, and they had great growth throughout the story. I also loved the world bulding, detail, and all the little extras thrown in. Definitely one of the best books I’ve read in a while.
“Daughter of Time” is the first installment in the “Descendants of the Gods” series by Tamar Sloan, a YA fantasy paranormal romance featuring a mostly Greek pantheon background.
Kadence (FMC) is Kronos daughter, a demigod who longs to join her father in Olympus, as Kronos comes to her with the assignment to find out who is messing with the timelines, she grasps the opportunity to shine and finally earn a place on his side. Kadence’s investigation unearths that the time allocated to each persons is in fact scrambled, and not even her power to stop time altogether can help with the situation. The deeper she goes into the conundrum, the darker everything seems to the point that she struggles to find anything worth to save in the world. Until Micah appears, a mysterious guy, with a profoundly positive aptitude that shows her that light cannot exist without the shadows.
An amazing start into a brand-new series, that successfully blends Greek mythology and urban fantasy into a captivating YA story, about the power of love (not only in the carnal sense) and fate. Tamar Sloan world is compelling, credible and enjoyable, the counterpoint between Kadence’s earthly existence in Detroit’s poor neighborhood and her longing to be able to join her father in Olympus is heart-breaking and a beautiful metaphor for growth. The relationship between Kadence and Micah is credible, a wonderful interaction that shows the juxtaposition of light/darkness, pessimism/optimism, despair/hope and the ultimate sense on existence, all of them delightfully wrapped into an easy-to-read, moving and wonderful story.
