Daughter Of The Sun by Laura Greenwood is #2 in the Forgotten Gods series.
Cursed and trapped for thousands of years, Sehkmet is finally free. She has only 1 plan with her freedom, to exact revenge on the one she believes to be responsible for cursing her.
I love the authors take on Egyptian mythology and have enjoyed each of these short fantasies!
Daughter of the Sun by Laura Greenwood is a Egyptian Mythology story that I listened to on audio narrated by Sterling LeGrand-Carney. This is the second book in the Forgotten Gods series and can be read as a stand-alone.
I absolutely love Laura’s books! This story does end on a bit of a cliffhanger so I am looking forward to jumping into the third book in the series Servant of Chaos.
Sterling did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.
Our heroine has been entombed in stone for centuries. Now she it offered freedom, but only if she forsakes her calling.
This is the second book in the series. It works just fine as a standalone. I read book three before this one and had no problems with either.
This is a fantasy romance story set in the time of Egyptian gods. The story is well written and easy to read, with a straightforward plot that still manages to have some unexpected twists to it. The characters are well developed and present interesting variants on the original myths. Speaking of which, I really enjoyed the Egyptian mythology elements of the story and the others in this series. Overall, a very enjoyable read.
Highly recommended.

I’ve loved all of the books in this series. This one touches on the Egyptian myth of Sekhmet in the author’s own version and how she deals with the situation after being found and the curse she is under is taken off of her. She finds unexpected love and has to decide if she is going to allow herself to change or get revenge on the the one or ones who did this to her long ago (as the author changes that part of the story up a bit). It has its humor, romantic love, a little mystery, and a lot of Egyptian mythology and makes for a good, somewhat short standalone story to read.
This was a very interesting read. A totally different take on the Egyptian gods. Written in a simple but compelling style the characters grow in you!
I really enjoyed it!

I enjoyed this short book and the romance between Sekhmet and Fet. I found the message of choosing who you want to be outside of expectations to be inspirational. The underlying intrigue of the story wasn’t resolved, so I’m eager to read more in the series to find out what will happen.

Daughter of the Sun by Laura Greenwood is a stand alone story about Sekhmet. This story is set within the lives of the mythological gods and goddesses who are part of the Forgotten Gods and Goddesses Universe. In this book, the goddess of war Sekhmet has been cursed and trapped in the stone body of the Sphinx for over a thousand years. At the beginning of this story, she is finally released and this is her story. I love the way Sekhmet is portrayed in this tale and definitely fell in love with this character. This story is part cautionary tale, part romance, and definitely has a moral. If you enjoy gripping emotional stories based on mythological characters then you will love this tale as much as I do. Daughter of the Sun is a romantic tale about a lost but not forgotten goddess.
Sorry, but I just could not get into this story. I stopped after chapter 5. It seemed very boring to me. It was telling about Sekhmet, and she just grumped about everything. There was not action, suspense, nothing to draw you in to keep reading. Remember this is just my opinion others might feel different than me.

Interesting twists in Sekhmet’s story where after being trapped for thousands of years. I loved Sekhmet’s inner monologue and how this story is based on Egyptian mythology. This is a quick, well written story with a mix of mythology, mystery, magic and romance.

Really enjoyed this action packed, emotionally thrilling and engaging adventure filled with intriguing magical charters, witty dialog, emotionally thrilling twists and exciting turns….. Great reading!
I really liked this story. It had a bit of a lighter feel considering it is the story of how Sekhmet transforms back into herself after thousands of years of being trapped. It was funny and snarky and just a blast to read. Her inner monologue was amusing. It was easy to read and I read it in one sitting as it was a quick read and caught my attention and made me read it to see what secrets would be revealed. And what she would end up doing. Nice setup for the next one.
Sekhmet the goddess of vengeance has been cursed for over a thousand years. She is suddenly released but there are conditions if she is to remain free. A war is coming between the gods and Sekhmet might be able to save them all.
Sekhmet is a character that all strong women can relate to. She knows what she wants and goes after it. But being cursed and released, she rethinks life. Well written. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Revenge, vengeance, justice. Sekhmet has been cursed and imprisoned in a sphinx for a thousand years. When the curse is broken she wants nothing more than to take vengeance on her father, the person who both created her to do his dirty work, and who also cursed her. But what really happened a thousand years ago is not what she thought. Someone was out to stop her and she doesn’t know why. And now that she has been released from her curse, it is not entirely broken. Her powers are limited. If she goes too far and mets out unwarranted vengeance, she will be cursed forever. What can she doe? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
This was a great Egyptian mythology story! Sekhmet has been trapped for a thousand years, but when her release comes, she has to choose between love and revenge. I loved her snarky and vengeful personality and besides being created that way, she has every right to feel those things after being cursed as a sphinx. I liked the romance that she had with Fet even though it wasn’t the main focus of the story.
Sterling did a pretty good job with the narration. For the most part, I think she portrayed Sekhmet’s emotions very well, but at times it did feel a little flat when she voiced other characters.
