There will be plenty of time for me to beat him soundly once I’ve gotten what I came for. Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map–the key to a legendary treasure trove–seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship. More than a match for the ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has … ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has only one thing standing between her and the map: her captor, the unexpectedly clever and unfairly attractive first mate Riden. But not to worry, for Alosa has a few tricks up her sleeve, and no lone pirate can stop the Daughter of the Pirate King.
In Daughter of the Pirate King, debut author Tricia Levenseller blends action, adventure, romance, and a little bit of magic into a thrilling YA pirate tale.

Fast-paced, quick read. I loved this book. I love Levenseller’s writing style. Very to the point, while building an amazing world with vibrant scenes. I couldn’t put this book down. From the start I was invested in the characters through every twist and turn. This book stuck with me long after I finished. Definitely recommend.
Swashbuckling romance with fascinating magic system. Enjoyed this one.
I loved this book and its sequel ‘Daughter of the Siren Queen’. After I was finished with DotPK, I almost ran to the bookstore the next day to get DotSQ. When I was finished, I question, how soon is too soon to re-read this series, it was that good. Looking forward to her next book.
It was amazing
It was just one of those books that just take your breath away for some reason.
Refreshing, to say the least. For once, I get a girl protagonist who is feminine AND can beat someone up without batting an eyelash. The instalove was annoying, as per usual.
“Oh, the ridiculous things one has to do when one is a pirate.”
I loved this so much! I really didn’t know what to expect, to be honest. I kept putting off reading it because everyone kept saying that it was a just a girl Jack Sparrow. Don’t ask me why, but it made not want to read it.
BIG MISTAKE! This book starts off with action right in the beginning and the action did not stop there. Alosa ain’t afraid to get down and dirty or kill somebody if she has too. Did I mention that she is female captain and has damn near a complete female crew on her ship? I’M ALL FOR THAT!
Alosa has hands down became my favorite protagonist I have read about this year!
I am power and strength. I am death and destruction. I am not someone to be trifled with.
She was strong, witty, and such a pleasure to read about. I never knew what was going to come out of her mouth. Man, this girl was brave! I couldn’t get enough of reading about her.
“So tell me, Alosa. What sorts of things have you had to do to earn your father’s love?”
“The usual. Cheat. Steal. Kill.”
I’ve read reviews about how some people didn’t like the romance between her and Ridan. I guess I’m an unpopular opinion with that one because I did like them! I liked that they didn’t focus on it as much as they could have. We got moments between them that had me on the edge of my seat. But we also got some moments that weren’t romantic at all. They opened up to each other and learn to trust the other. I also loved the banter between them.
This book shocked me and I’m so glad to have this on my bookshelf. If you been thinking about picking this up, then don’t hesitate!
Bring on Daughter of the Siren Queen!
Couldn’t put it down.
I had no interest in reading this book, given that it was pitched as a female Jack Sparrow and I despise Pirates of the Caribbean, I have no interest in pirates, YA is not my genre, and the cover is blah. But, it caught me right from the start….the writing was great, the story was fast paced. The main character was fiery has her hair and her quick wittedness had me laughing out loud. This would of been a 5 star read, but I felt cheated with a quick ended. Daughter of the Pirate King is a quick easy read that holds your interest through-out the book, I recommend picking it up.
