A dead body.A missing daughter.A silver blade. All the clues point to one person: Me.My name is Evangeline, and I¿m a retired assassin who wants nothing to do with the underworld. But an edict from a Demonic Lord forces me to return to the man and the life I left behind.I have seven days to prove my innocence.Whoever set me up is going to die.
Sarah Puckett does a stellar job bringing this story to life. As does Tristan Hunt, he isn’t there much but that makes when he is that much more effective.
I love these characters, something about them just drew me in from the start. I love the way their backstory is sprinkled throughout not just lumped in one go. The world building is great and I love the scope of it in just one book, I feel almost like I’m in the middle of a series but that I haven’t missed anything. Yes I know how odd that sounds! I could have happily stayed with these characters and this world for much longer.
his is a wonderful story which pulls you in and immerses you in this brilliantly created world filled with some amazing characters.
Complex, sassy and steamy.
loved it!
Audiobook version:
Ooo I love me a good PNR! This was such a fun book! The characters were awesome~ This series took the Angels/Demons dynamic to a more complex level. The chemistry was sizzling yet still gave us that angst we love. Who do we trust? Is it safe to Love? Who is Evil?
Sarah Puckett was phenomenal in this book! She brought these characters to life in the very best way. Tristan Hunt was a great addition though his part was very small. Would love to hear more of him! This was an extremely entertaining performance. I could hear the enjoyment in Sarah’s voice.

Daughter of Death by Lexi C Foss was a phenomenal paranormal story that had me hooked from beginning to end. With Angels Demons, Ghouls, Succubus and so much more, this story was well-written, detailed and fully developed. Lexi C Foss did a fabulous job with world building and the creation of such fascinating characters, you will be thinking about this story long after it is over.
With non-stop action, steamy scenes, suspense and mystery, Daughter of Death will keep you engrossed and the twists and turns will have you at the edge of your seat.
The audible version of this novel was narrated by Sarah Puckett and Tristan Hunt. As expected, Sarah was excellent with her performance and I especially loved her portrayal of Xai. Tristan only had two short chapters in this novel so we only got a small taste of his voice but I did like it. I absolutely enjoyed listening to this audiobook and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of paranormal romance.

Audiobook Review:
Lexi C. Frost creates a utopian realm with supernaturals quintessence. Daughter of Death gives you a glimpse at the afterworld, underworld, and the universe in a way that exposes how these realms co-exist. Point-by-point details of the realm created, as well as pie in the sky characters. Dark elements of blood and death swirling throughout the narrative of this paranormal romance, Evangeline is a intriguing as well as complex character with sanguinary traits as well as bleeding-heart ones. Xai’s character is a ruthless alpha male who’s pov is told in book two. Embarking on a journey, Evangeline and Xai plunge through romance, encounter suspenseful moments as well as unexpected twists. Looking forward to what’s next in the dark providence series.
The narrative is told in mostly Evangeline’s pov with Xai’s pov only in a few places. Narrators Sarah Puckett and Tristan Hunt collaborate well together. We only get a glimpse of Tristan Hunt’s narrative skills and so far what I listened to sounded mainstream. I’m intrigued to listen to more of his narration. Sarah Puckett’s flawless performance brings Evangeline’s character to realism. Her skills are well articulated. Her tone and pace flows through smoothly throughout the narrative. All the right sentiments and proportions are vocalized to tranquilize you. Always a intoxicating experience listening to Sarah Puckett narrate.

Daughter of Death by Lexi C. Foss is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett and Tristan Hunt. This is book one in The Dark Provenance Series but the books can be read as standalones. Book two is already released. However, it is not on audio yet.
Lexi did an amazing job with the storyline. I enjoyed the romance, drama, and action that surrounded Xai and Eve. There were just enough sexual scenes to make it a paranormal romance but not enough to distract from the storyline. The only downfall of the storyline is you don’t get much of Xai’s point of view. However, it looks like book two may be his perspective as the storyline continues.
Sarah did an amazing job narrating. I absolutely love her as a narrator. She just has a way of pulling you into the storyline. Tristan did a great job with his narration. However, he only got two chapters of the book to read. Here is to hoping to hear more from him in book two when its turned into an audiobook.

Daughter of Death
Dark Provenance Series, Book 1
By: Lexi C. Foss
Narrated by: Sarah Puckett, Tristan Hunt
This book is amazing, it is well written and well told. The storylines are interesting and action-packed and they mesmerized me from start to end. Lexi C. Foss creates an imaginative world with equally imaginative characters and supernatural beings. The world dynamics are fascinating, as are the different types of demons and angels. The author does a great job explaining these characters, giving descriptive details and explanations of who is what and what they do. Eve, “Evangeline”, a fallen angel who is also the daughter of death and a former assassin for the Demon Lord is one bad ass chick. I admire her strength, courage and no nonsense approach. Xie, the son of Chaos and the last person Eve wanted to see. But in he walks telling her the Demon Lord has summoned her. She has a love/hate relationship with Xie, she wants to love him, he doesn’t want to love her so she hates him instead. LOL! I loved the chemistry and the banter between the two, you can just tell they were made for each other. Eve finds out she is wrongfully accused of something and Xie is going to help clear her name. I liked how everything plays out, from the investigation, where it brought them, to finding out who was behind it and what they had planned. There is never a dull moment, there is plenty of drama, action, twists, thrilling suspense that takes you to the edge of your seat as well as some hot romance. Lexi C. Foss, thank you for this amazing story, I am looking forward to what comes next in the Dark Provenance series.
I listened to the Audible edition, Sarah Puckett and Tristan Hunt are wonderful narrators and voice performers. They bring these characters to life, give each their own voice and personality. They do an amazing job projecting the emotions of the character into their performance, as well as the drama and excitement of the story. It is like they are bringing you in alongside those characters. They are entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen

What happens when two angels in love fall? Why, make do of course!
She becomes a bada$$ assassin to save humanity, and he serves a demon lord to do the same…all so destiny and fate can be served. That’s way too much responsibility, but hey, they’re immortal, what else do they have but time?!
Xai falls to fulfill his purpose, Eve follows, because hey, love makes you do crazy things, right?! But needless to say things don’t go as planned and Xai does everything in his power to push her away, all in the name of protecting his mate. Centuries of hurt and regret, but they must overcome and work together because there is a shift, and bad things are coming.
I’m sad I waited so long to dive into this series, don’t make the same mistake I did…really, I highly recommend you don’t miss this one!
This is a fantastic story, Eve and Xai are awesome characters. The banter and sexual tension, the steam these two put off is electric and twisted. The world and storyline are extremely well written. I was drawn in from the very start and couldn’t put it down. I have to know what else is in store for these characters.
It’s been a while since I’ve read some pnr but Daughter of Death has reminded me just how much I love this genre. Or maybe it’s because Lexi C Foss really knows how to write a fantastic story you can immerse yourself and get lost in.
This book has it all, with a definite darker undercurrent – Angels, Demons, action, mystery and mayhem, a kick ass bad girl heroine who loves to play with knives and a dark, dominant, irresistible, sadistic alpha “hero” with a huge cocky, confident disposition! Evangeline (Eve) and Xai have been on/off lovers for centuries, but it’s a soul destroying love/hate relationship for Eve. After millennia of opening her heart to him only to be let down and betrayed time and time again, Xai is the last person Eve wants to accept help from to clear her name after the retired assassin is accused of murder. She’s on a time limit, but can she really trust him this time when an eternity suffering in hell will be the result if she fails? If he betrays her again, her soul will shatter.
These two really had chemistry off the charts, like a pair of magnets repelling each other away one minute, only to come together with sizzling hot passion the next, but Xai….oh Xai, I went back and forth from loving him and wanting to throttle him! This story had twists and turns and with Xai, nothing is as it seems, especially his ultimate goal. There were some fantastic supporting characters too who I really hope we get to see more of in the future.
I loved this book and I love how this author hooks you in and doesn’t let go until well after the end. I can’t wait for what comes next from Lexi C Foss, highly recommended 5 dark angel stars
