“How about I make you a promise? Don’t break my heart, and I will never break yours.”
Bexley just broke up with her teenage boyfriend. And after exchanging a few words with his friend, who has watched the scene unfold, she declares that he will be her new friend, practically coercing the boy into contradicting her. And so, the two become best friends, always together in all situations.
Years later, as adults, the two are still inseparable and share the same roof. And if adult life has changed a great deal in their lives, one constant remains: Bexley’s endless dates, looking for the ideal partner.
Her love life becomes an inner joke between the friends. After all, all suitors over the years have some kind of flaws or make a mistake, and the seven-dating milestone becomes an unreachable goal, because no one can get past the third. Tristan laughs at the situation, never takes it seriously until he hears from his friend that she’s looking for a husband, the one. And the weight with which he receives this news will make him open his eyes and admit a harsh truth.
Seven dates. Without giving up. This is what he proposes to Bexley. If he makes a mistake, she should write it down, but under no circumstances should she give up until the seventh date ends. It may sound crazy, and she reacts in astonishment at this proposal. But after all, how will he show her that he is and has always been the only suitor for her? How to make his best friend fall in love with him?
And so we will accompany Tristan and Bexley in the most different and unusual dates. No expectations, no pressure, no weight of the unknown. They both know each other, they know all the secrets, each habit, gesture and tricks of each other. Therefore, all that remains is to enjoy each other’s company and enjoy the dates. And open up to the feelings.
But not everything will be easy in the couple’s life. A character will appear in the story, shaking things a bit and creating some confusion. A misunderstanding happens in the final part, and Tristan and Bexley will have to face the harsh truth that if there is still a friendship to be saved.
Friends who fall in love is always an interesting theme, the cliché is present in the plot, but as in every romance, it is expected and even welcome. A fun book with good characters, good plot, well-developed and with a happy ending. Their notes are the best part of the book. A good romance.

D.Kelly made me fall head over heels in love with love! This book had me captivated from the very first page to the very last and seduced by the characters that I couldn’t put it down if I tried (I didn’t even try)! This book was sweet, sexy, romantic and emotional. Tristan and Bexley have been friends since high school but realizing that maybe, just maybe there was something more between them. This book had me laughing, crying and swooning for the friendship, bond, and relationship these two characters had. If you read ANYTHING this year, read this book! I promise you will fall in love over and over again, page after page, chapter after chapter and even by the end you won’t want to let go!
Okay have to say I loved this friends to lovers by D. Kelly in every way. These two together are perfect for each other down to what they wear, their secrets, dreams and hello their chemistry together. I loved that Bexley really has no idea what she wants yet when it comes to Tristan everything he does is good. Personally secretly she has been comparing all the guys to him just never knew it right away. Their friendship is truly beautiful but when they come together to risk it all was magical between them. All in all these two are perfect as friends but as lover well fireworks are exploding everywhere love it. Cannot wait to see what D. Kelly has in store next.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
What is it about the number 7 when it comes to gambling? D. Kelly sure knew it was a lucky number when she wrote Dating Roulette, because with this story, the wins are endless.
Bexley is a combination of all the best part of today’s independent woman. She is sweet and sexy, cautious and reserved and selective and picky. And she had me laughing the entire story based on her actions and responses. Oddly, she knew what she wanted and knows what she does and does not like. And she is not one to settle.
Tristan is the best type of friend. Protective and aware of others, and not afraid to step out and show that strong alpha male side when needed. His goals are simple and his sites are clear. Yet his target has no idea his plans…until it’s too late. Fortunately, too late is a good thing.
These two people have challenges that cannot be hidden from each other, yet they somehow figure all the ‘its’ out. This story is funny, cute and absolutely a must if you want a story that will warm your heart from beginning to end. Five stars D.Kelly… Five stars because we can’t give more.
Oh my heart!!! Dating Roulette by author D. Kelly is an incredible mix of emotions! The storyline from the first page in the book to the last page of the epilogue is so fantastic, I could not put this down! Tristan and Bexley’s story is one of rescue, love, and heartbreak. This friends-to-lovers HEA is so freaking good! There was a great amount of heat in this read! All of the characters were SO perfect! The way D. Kelly wrote this romance was flawless! The story flowed so well and had me engulfed into it so hard I couldn’t stop thinking about the story and characters like they weren’t actually real…and just an amazingly written book. I completely recommend Dating Roulette with 5 stars!!!
This was my first D. Kelly’s book, and won’t be my last. This is a beautiful friends to lovers story. I loved it! Tristan and Bexley is beautifully written, fun, sweet, sexy, and so romantic. Tristan is a handsome character. Hexley is a beautiful character. They both are great together. I loved their friendship, and their chemistry. They are meant to be togheter. The ending is beautiful. I highly recommend this story.
Overall Rating: 1/2
Dating and rules. The two are necessary together, but also very very complicated. Rules protect hearts, ensure boundaries, and guide the relationship. However, they block feelings, and they allow a heart to become too protected that it misses out on fully experiencing feelings because rules always come from your mind, not your heart.
D. Kelly’s Dating Roulette is a story about Bexley and Tristan, best friends since high school. Tristan is also best friends with the first guy to break Bexley’s heart, hence the way Tristan and Bexley meet. From that moment, these two are inseparable. They go to college together, they live together, and quite frankly, Tristan would love to work with Bexley. But with all that time spent together, these two have never dated. For one, Bexley has rules and guidelines for dating. And no one has ever come close to scoring a seventh date with Bexley. As the story begins, feelings are changing for Bexley and Tristan. Tristan begins to see Bexley in a more amorous way, while it takes Bexley a bit of time to see Tristan similarly. She is definitely attracted to him at some point. Eventually, Tristan decides to make a deal with Bexley: date him for seven dates. After the seventh date, they can be a couple if it works for each of them or they can remain friends. Since these two began as a friendship, Tristan knows exactly how to date Bexley, and very quickly, these two fall in love. Unfortunately, life complicates any good relationship, and Tristan and Bexley’s burgeoning relationship is threatened. Even more, their friendship may change too. Will these two find their happy ending? Will they find true happiness with each other as a couple or as friends?
I loved this story. So much so, that I picked the book up and didn’t put it down until I finished it a day later. As I have stated in recent blog reviews, I don’t mind a friends-to-lovers trope. I appreciate it more when it has a twist to it. I’m driven quite mad when one friend fights the attraction over the other friend, Thankfully, that isn’t the case with D. Kelly’s romance. They are both “all in” once they acknowledge their attraction to each other. I do think Tristan has been attracted to Bexley for longer than she has been attracted to him. But also, Tristan has to push past all of Bexley’s “issues” with men and relationships. They are both “well-traveled” in the relationship department, but I think we realize that Bexley has a few more miles than Tristan.
Since Bexley has rules and “hang-ups” when it comes to guys (read that as “picky”…nothing wrong with that. It’s simply a statement), Tristan’s attentiveness to her achieves Kelly’s goal: building an undeniable chemistry between the two and keeping her reader’s engaged. I can’t speak for other romance readers, but I’m a personal fan of the man who loves a woman (or man) in her (his) love language. To a certain degree, Tristan does this.
He also becomes the problem in the relationship when there is a misunderstanding about Bexley’s relationship with her co-worker, and Tristan becomes stubborn in his response to the misunderstanding. That is definitely Tristan’s character flaw. However, Bexley, as the strong female heroine, is able to use her understanding of Tristan to pull him back to her. It’s probably my favorite part of the book. Quite frankly, given Bexley’s background with men, she could have walked away from Tristan. However, D. Kelly creates an indestructible relationship through Tristan and Bexley’s indestructible friendship. This is the core of this book. This understanding that a true friendship first in a relationship can build an even stronger love commitment.
This was my first D. Kelly read, and it will definitely not be my last. Yes, this book had some angsty moments, but they never overwhelm the reader. Instead, watching Tristan and Bexley, best friends, fall in love on the page made this reader sigh and remember the power of love. If you love a “friends-to-lovers” type of read, you can’t go wrong with reading D. Kelly’s Dating Roulette. It’s time well spent.
This was the perfect friends to lover’s romance. This book had it all, it was sweet and sexy and emotional. I loved everything about this book and couldn’t stop once I started.
Tristan and Bexly have been friends since high school. They never saw each other as anything more than their best friend. The two of them had different feeling for each other but kept them secret. They thought just one night was all they needed just to see what could be. Tristan didn’t do long term and Bexley had a way she wanted her dates to go. Neither of them could ever make things work anyone else, but when they started to date is was easy.
I loved this book so much and highly recommend it!
If you are looking for a great friend to lover troupe – look no further than Dating Roulette. D. Kelly hit this one out of the park with best friends who have known each other for 10 years and decide to finally take a chance and date.
I fell in love with Tris and Bex from the start. And I had a huge smile on my face the entire time I was reading this book.
Bex has rules to dating and it’s something that Tristan has always teased her about. But when he decides enough is enough and he wants a chance, he tries to stick to her rules, to show her and the one she’s been looking for has been right under her nose this whole time.
Fun, Sexy and Heartwarming… The Dating Roulette is a MUST READ!
This was my first read by D. Kelly. It was so sweet and swoony I couldn’t put it down. I loved the relationship between Tristan and Bexley. It was so easy going it’s easy to see why they are best friends.
This book will make you laugh and cry, possibly throw your reading device across the room but in the end, you will have a huge smile of satisfaction. Highly recommend.
Dating Roulette was a cute friends to lovers romance. Let me just say, I never really found a book that do this trope justice, some are good but not this level of greatness!
We begin in the past with the back story of two teens, Tristan and Bexley as she storms into his life, telling his best friend, Adam that they are over for good and then claims Tristan as her very own new best friend. He always thought that she is off-limits, you know, bro code and all. But years have passed and Bex still have yet to find the one. So, Tristan comes up with the idea that maybe he should get on Bex dating roulette and see if he can make it passed the seven dates. Another reason is because he always had feelings for her, but didn’t want them to get in weird situation and Bexley never thought of him that way. Or maybe she did?
Tristan and Bexley are both so likable by themselves but what made the story even more special is who they became when they were together- sweet, sexy and adorable! Their relationship is so sweet, perfect, romantic as hell, intimate and the anticipation of what might happen is everything you could want in this trope.
Their best friends, Adam and Rita added so much fun to their story and were really supportive when they needed to be. I loved everything about Dating Roulette! Totally recommend it!
This is the first book by D. Kelly that I have read. It definitely won’t be the last either. This is such an amazing friends to lovers read. I’m so glad that I took a chance on a new to me author. D. Kelly has been added to my list of authors I enjoy.
Tristan and Bexley have been friends since highschool. So for about 10 years. They’ve also been roommates for the last five years. They both have had feelings for each other, but didn’t realize them for what they were. Until they finally did.
I absolutely loved how Tristan made her promise 7 dates. You’ll understand when you read this. And you must read this! It will have you laughing and then there will be a part that has you sad, and yet another that has you a little angry.
Both characters are great and oh so lovable. Especially Tristan. He’s just so damn sweet!
I would so love to have an update about them, say after they get married and start a family!
Tristan & Bex’s love story does not disappoint!
I am a sucker for friends to lovers books. This book did not disappoint. I was totally enamored with Tristan and Bex! The characters were well developed and the storyline made me not want to put it down! Go get this book you won’t be disappointed.
This was such a fun read! I enjoyed it. It was my first read from this author. I loved the writing style, and the storyline.
Tristan and Bexley’s story is heartwarming. True friends in every sense of the word, to Lovers. This story will captivate you from the beginning all the way to the end. I love how the story evolved from being friends in High School, all the way to the happily ever after at the end of the story. The ending was the best!
Dating Roulette by D. Kelly was such a lovely romantic read.
I loved and enjoyed every word, every scene. The writing was fabulous.
It was a heart-melting feel-good friends-to-lovers romance. Great story worth reading.
4.5 Sweet Stars!
Let me start off by saying that Bexley & Tristan are the absolute cutest Best Friends I have read! The relationship they have is so in-tune with each other, you could feel it through the pages of this story; so when we get to the angsty part of the book I want to yell at Tristan…”Go. Hurry! You KNOW better”
I loved that that each kept journals for their round of dating roulette, it just brought out what everyone else had seen over the past 10 years.
This was such a feel-good story, it left me smiling.
I absolutely LOVED this book. Having never read anything by D. Kelly I wasn’t sure what to expect but was blown away. This is such a great love story. I absolutely fell in love with Tristan and Bexley from the get go and continued to fall head over heals over them. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster and I found myself falling for Tristan. Such a hard book to put down. I highly recommend this book, read it, trust me you won’t regret it.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Such a sweet love story! I melted at the end. Read this best friends to lovers book! Makes a great beach read
I love slow burn, and this is freaking hot. If I had realised earlier how perfect it could be to go from friends to lovers I would have given this trope a chance ages ago. The two characters have an instant connection but refuse to give it a try due to bro code. So freaking annoying, but feelings that strong will eventually surface. The dating process is not so hard when you know each other so well, but it still takes trust, commitment and communication to get to the next level. I’m in love with this guy in every way possible and every girl deserves this kind of relationship. Go grab your next book boyfriend and don’t settle for less in your own life.
