BEST FRIENDS DON’T GO AWAY ON PURPOSE
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review
This story had me almost in tears from the start. I was able to feel Jasper’s and Khloe’s sorrow and desperation to stay together. Finding out that the two suffered immense depression and Jasper suffered from PTSD that led to debilitating panic attacks moved me more than any other story ever has. Annie wrote a tremendously terrific book.
Sometimes it’s never too late
After the loss of his parents, Jasper had to move to Las Vegas to live with his aunt since he was under 18. Years passed, and after 15 years in the service he returned to his original hometown. He also wants his first and only love Khloe back, although she is still mad after his abrupt departure. A truly emotional read with the loss of his parents, the loss of Khloe, and her loss of him when he was forced to move. Ms. Rose has done a superior job with her characters and story that were artfully drawn with her writing prowess.
Warning: Have some tissues close by throughout the reading of this book. They’ll be needed for both the sad and happy events.

I loved that this story was about friendship, loss, anxiety, PTSD, reflection, forgiveness, acceptance and everything in between. This story is about Khloe, her best friend Jasper, her sister, her late husband’s best friend and others, but mainly them. Losing a parent is hard as an adult but a kid, even a teenager, it is earth shattering. This is how the story starts and not only has Jasper lost both of his parents, but now his only family lives in Vegas, far away from his true best friend and love of his life. How does someone cope with that and what does that do to Khloe? Twelve years pass before they meet again and this is when one realizes what the meaning of friendship and true love is all about. Oh and I love the puppy….she was a great addition to this story especially for her purpose. This was an awesome book, you get sucked in from the start and it leaves you wanting more at the end, but note that the ending is great a new friend who needs help joins the party per say.

This story was just incredible. Khloe and Jasper were childhood sweethearts and best friends. But a terrible tragedy when Jasper was almost eighteen tore them apart. Khloe never heard from him again until he returns to town twelve years later. Khloe had lost her husband three years ago. Can she ever forgive Jasper for what he did? Jasper suffers PTSD from his tour in Afghanistan and has a beautiful service dog called Piper. This book was just wonderful how it explained PTSD, the side effects, the panic attacks and the role of a service dog. Very highly recommended.
Annie J. Rose is a master storyteller. DATING MY BEST FRIEND is proof of that. This book tugs at the heartstrings and asks you to get emotionally invested from the first charter. Then keeps you hooked until the very end. You don’t really have a choice in the matter. You are along for the ride. For the good and the bad. Never wavering in your need to find out if there really is going to be a happily ever after because it is not a given.
Yet, you cannot put the book down. You see it through from start to finish. Annie J. Rose is that good. I have always enjoyed reading her stories. This one is no exception. 6 STARS from me, at least.
A wellwritten and fastpaced book with a great storyline and wonderful characters. I love the bond and chemistry between Jasper and Khloe.

First of all I want to say well done Annie on writing such an emotional read that kept my attention from chapter one that led me to have tears in my eyes to the last page of the epilogue and getting their HEA , but in between you witness how Khloe and Jasper fix their fractured friendship after the promises he makes to her that they will keep in touch when he has to leave for Vegas and doesn’t keep them to when he returns back to his hometown twelve years later , an emotional enjoyable read , well written and a fantastic storyline about 2 people helping each other through grief , PSTD , finding love all over again , sizzling chemistry , hot steaminess and don’t forget Jaspers adorable dog PIPER , highly recommend this book

A truly wonderful book. I especially liked how the author dealt with how PTSD is just as easily triggered by emotion or memory and not always just by sudden sound or movement. I also loved how the author was able to portray the technique of just how Piper, the service dog could calm Jasper when he would have a nightmare or an impending or actual panic attack.
Jasper and Khloe were both broken souls and seeing them find their way back to each other made for a very touching, moving, and emotional, book!

This book nearly had me in tears within the first chapter. So much emotional upheaval in these characters lives, and left a lot of destruction behind. Absolutely loved the way PTSD was portrayed for the reader to get a better understanding on how to help people with this condition and to be upfront when needing help. The storyline of characters reconnecting after so many years was heart warming and wonderful ending.

when a horrible accident. The only thing holding him was his best friend Khloe “Khlo”, that is until they learn that he has to move to Vegas with an aunt because he isn’t 18. At that moment Khloe’s world shatters. She loves Jay more than as a friend. Will she ever get to tell him.
Awesome story line. I love the focus of the story, not only tackelng subjects that need to be discussed. Also it seemed to focus more on the male lead.

Practicing high school volleyball, Khloe was surprised to see her mom walk up to the coach to talk. The look on her face was upsetting, so Khloe passed the ball to a teammate and walked over. Her mom told her to get her things, they had to leave right away! Without question, Khloe got her things from the locker and joined her mother who drove to the hospital, still not answering any questions. In the waiting room, she found her family and her best friend, Jasper, who looked to be in shock. She put her arms around him and held him close as she cried, knowing whatever it was would be life-altering. A nurse came out, squatted down in front of Jasper, and told him there was nothing they could do – his parents were gone, killed in a terrible car wreck. His nearest relative was in Vegas and, since he was under 18, he had to move to live with his aunt, his father’s estranged sister. And he would never see Khloe again.
After 15 years, out of the service, Jasper comes back. But Khloe doesn’t want to see him after his devastating departure with no further contact. He has changed, filled with demons and nightmares from the past. But one thing hasn’t changed – and he wants her back!
This was a very emotional story. From the moment Khloe’s mother pulled her out of the high school volleyball practice until Jasper was forced to leave to join his aunt, the reader is almost in shock vividly feeling the emotions of all of the characters in this dreadfully painful situation of the loss of his parents and the girl he loves. The author did an amazing job with the story line and characters. You cannot fail to be moved by this one.
Khloe and Jasper were best friends from a small age. In their senior year, Jasper’s parents were killed in a car accident. He moved to Vegas with an aunt he barely knew. Twelve years later, he decided to come home again. Khloe worked as the head librarian in her town. She lost her husband three years prior to a heart attack. She was still very close with his friend Kent and her family. Jasper became a police officer in town and was working on PTSD from his time in the Marines. He also has a service/police dog that is somewhat loveable and crazy! When he runs into Khloe again…it is not pretty. He abandoned her for all these years with no explanation. They have both suffered from depression, severe trauma, and loss. Those around them want to see good things happen for both and encourage them spending time together. And they do with plenty of laughter thrown in with the family escapades and what small-town living brings about! This is a very well written story with all the right elements in it that I hope sincerely brings about a series in the making! These characters are already endeared to my heart. Best friends, young love, torn apart through tragedy and learning to pick up the pieces and move on. When Jasper’s life changed forever, so did Khloe’s. Thick as thieves, besties and each loved the other, but never said the words and when Jay had to leave Khloe behind she was crushed and the worst part of all, the promises he made, he broke and along with the broken promises, heart break. Khloe picked up the pieces and started her life over. There were reasons why he didn’t keep his promises and when he turns up back home years later, he is not prepared for the woman she has become, the life she’s had without him, the tragedy in her life, and the feelings he has for her and the feelings she has for him. Will these two get to the bottom of everything, will Khloe hear what Jay has to say? Will Khloe get all the answers she’s been wanting all these years? Will they be able to fix what’s broken? I guess you will need to read this to find out. Loved this book, I hope there is a book for Quinn and Kent, they were amazing along with Khloe’s parents. This is a can’t miss read. I found this book on BookSprout.
