An enjoyable and emotional read that was written well.
Sarah had been in grad school for architectural landscaping and botany when she received word her father had a heart attack. She drops everything to go home and help take care of him since it’s just her two brothers, their father, and her left after losing their mother. What she doesn’t expect is to have everything fall on her shoulders while dad doesn’t appreciate anything she does for him and only wants her older brother. And the brother? Oh, he’s a real prince!! A self-centered jerk who only wants to whine about his divorce and drink. Even his lumber yard business is not doing well. It seems like the only person she can actually talk to is Luke, her brother’s best friend that she dated in high school. Yep, you guessed it, even that causes problems. The character’s personalities are relatable, the story flows, and the chemistry is palpable. This was an entertaining read.
This was an easy-to-read, angst filled book. With her family seemingly falling apart, Sarah Jo struggled to right things. Of course, she was thrown off balance when she reconnected with her first everything. Luke and Sarah Jo a have great chemistry when they aren’t hiding from the world. Be prepared. You may get a little teary eyed before it’s all over.
One thing I realized after I left review, the cover art indicates “secret baby” trope. That’s incorrect. “Forbidden Lovers” is correct.
Sarah jo and luke have loved each other since she was sixteen but they walked away from each other now years later sarah jo is back after her father becomes sick and run the family’s lumberyard business. When luke sees her does his feelings still run deep for her? Will he lose his best friend because of his feelibgs for his best friends little sister?
Sarah Jo and Luke’s second chance romance is a sweet story but tainted by Sarah Jo’s constant concerns about her father and brother. They are actually horrible towards Sarah Jo but, she feels a constant need to take care of them and fix things in spite of it all. Luke is a sweetheart – he’s a real knight in shining armor kind of guy. He sees all the burdens that Sarah Jo carries and wants to help. i just love his protectiveness and caring for Sarah Jo. It’s his determination to show her how special she is that makes it swoon worthy. I enjoyed this story but, I would have like some of the issues surrounding Sarah Jo concerning her brother and father to have been addressed.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Sarah Jo gets a call that she couldn’t of possibly expected. Finding out that she needs to come home, and help care for her ailing Father, is more than a challenge as her Brother can’t be counted on and her father won’t take care of himself. Leaving school to return to her small home town, brings her right back to Luke, her life-long crush. The issue is that he is her Brothers best friend and their steamy relationship would not be well received by Ryan, her (hot mess) Brother. Remembering the Summer that they snuck around only causes each to long for the other all the more.
I encourage all fans, of amazing romance, to follow along as Ms. Black, once again, takes us all along on a fantastic journey. What will happen when Ryan discovers their deception once they give in & rekindle their strong and powerful love? Will they walk away from each other again, or live their lives for the themselves? This is an absolutely outstanding release.
I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced readers copy of Date Your Brother’s Best Friend in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion and I couldn’t recommend reading this book as well as anything published by Ms. Black any & every time.
Secret desires are waiting to be revealed. Luke and Sarah Jo are dynamite. There’s a connection that will captivate readers from the first introduction to the last goodbye. Black brings long dormant emotions to the surface and bleeds the heart dry.
Sarah Jo comes home when her father has a heart attack so she can help out. However everything ends up falling on her to do without any thanks for doing it. Her father only wants her brother around and all her brother can do is complain about his failed marriage. Luke is her brother’s best friend but he is the one bright thing Sarah Jo has right now. Luke doesn’t like how his friend is treating his sister which causing some problems between them. Sarah Jo and Luke end up spending some time together and things begin to heat up between them. What will her brother say about them being together? Will Sarah JO finally give up on her family?
This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.
I read and reviewed this book for Bad Boy Update.
Sarah Jo drops out of her master’s degree program to return to her small-time town to care for her father after his heart attack and also to manage his lumber company. She has an older brother, Ryan, whom her father hoped would return from the nearby city where he has a large home and a successful career to take over the lumber yard. This story starts with Sarah Jo finally getting a night out at the bar ‘Cecil’ where she finds the owner’s fireman son managing the bar. She takes a break to visit with Luke, her first and only love, whom she hasn’t seen in years. Eventually, the two decide that as adults it should be easier to see each other on the QT than it was when they were teenagers. Sadly, Ryan is off his rocker since his wife has divorced him, and they fear his finding out. Can we count on Black to bring us to a HEA ending?
Sarah Jo has returned home to take care of her father. Basically putting her life on hold.
Luke works at his family’s bar/restaurant and is Sarah Jo’s brother’s best friend. He is also the man who dated her when they were in high school unbeknownst to anyone.
When Sarah Jo and Luke see each other their feelings are reignited and no one is going to stop them.
Sarah Jo’s father and brother are pieces of work. Never seeing what she has given up and what she is doing, only complaining about her at every turn. I truly disliked these two characters and was somewhat disappointed that we don’t know what happened to them in the end.
Great second chance novel.
I was given this book for an honest voluntary review
I received this ARC from Bad Boy Update. I loved Luke and Sara Jo’s story! It’s a mix of second chance and brother’s best friend romance all mashed up into one sexy story! Sara Jo leaves her Masters program to come home and take care of her father, since her brother is still wallowing over his divorce. She has managed to avoid Luke, but she finally gets the nerve to talk to him. Despite all the years and their age difference the chemistry is still there. I loved how they reconnected, in oh so many ways! Great read!!
So what happens when your family members do their all to keep you away from “the one,” you run right into their embrace and don’t let go. I loved Luke and Sahara Jo’s story. Ryan was annoying as a brother would be, but you can’t stop love. The author has done a great job with these endearing two individuals, and story line. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this ARC.
A fantastic book that will make you believe in love no matter the situation. When the love of your life is your brother’s best friend, there may be a few sticky situations to get around. But in the end love prevails and is so sweet and magical. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
A Lovely Romance
A lovely romance existed for the main male and main female characters, however, it was a love not welcome in the main female character’s family. There were myriad issues faced by the main female character regarding her family’s belief of male superiority over females. An important lesson that the main female character learned while trying to assist her family, was that they were all adults and could make their own decisions; all she could do was to honour those wishes and to assist when, and if, they wanted her assistance. She was not trying to be overbearing, only caring from a perspective of love. Unfortunately, as adults, they saw matters differently and she had to respect their wishes, even if some decisions they were making was to their detriment. As well, she learned to stand up for herself and that she was in the driver’s seat of her own life as well.
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel from the author and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
6 Stars for the storyline alone. The character depth should get its own 8-star rating aside from the storyline.
The characters make or break a book for me. This one was no exception. Natasha L Black takes us inside the heads of the main characters, and we get to hang on for the ride. Which is worth the time!
I loved this book. I love the works of Natasha L. Black. Great Story!
Second time around.
They used to be a secret. Now, Sarah Jo is in grad school (landscape architect) and her plate is full with real life. Luke is a firefighter and her brother’s BF.
Not sure why they had to be so secretive, but maybe as new adults they can be out in the open.
Received from Bad Boy Update.
This second chance romance was a great read with a well written storyline and characters that were so well developed that I felt like Sarah Jo and Luke lured me right into their story from the very beginning!
Natasha L. Black has done it yet again. She gives it all to us, “forbidden love”, crazy chemistry, a super hot H, and a witty strong, and sassy h. I loved Luke and Sarah Jo. They’ve been in love since high school, but her jerk of a brother and Luke’s “best friend” stepped in. Back after years away to help her father, Luke and Sarah Jo rekindle their relationship. Her older brother Ryan is still a jerk, her father is still not valuing his daughter, but Luke is there for her. Great paced, fun, steamy, and really super read.
I received an ARC and this is my totally honest review
A determined second chance
Sarah Jo was determined to succeed at running the family business as well as her relationship with Luke. He is a fire fighter and also works at his family’s bar. Their romance had been interrupted before, and they became more determined than ever that they would succeed in having the happiness they sought. After her father’s illness she has cared for him although his appreciation is absent. Of note, her brother is an absolute jerk who deserves everything (egotistical jerk) after his wife unceremoniously dumped him. The characters are relatable in this really good story that Ms. Black brought to life.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Sarah Jo is back home to help her father after his heart attack. During one night out with girls she sees Luke. Sarah Jo and Luke have a chance at second chance. With her brother being against, they have to fight for their happiness.
Great story.
