Susan Hatler does it again! Loved this book about Lucy and Jake and the dating disaster. Lucy believes the only men she needs to date are the responsible and stable ones like an accountant. But trying to prove you can cook but can’t causes a fire and brings firefighter Jake to the rescue. He is hot, on fire and simply irresistible and a disaster waiting to happen. Can Lucy stick to her decision on dating responsible, boring men or will she find more than she ever wanted in Jake?

I loved this short romance. The heat between the characters, the cooking, the comedic moments. They all blend together for a feel good romantic comedy. A great twist in this do over date series.

Date to the Rescue” by Susan Hatler
What a FUN Sweet Clean contemporary Romance. I am ever so glad I had the opportunity to receive an ARC of this story via NetGalley. In my humble unbiased opinion IF you like sweet clean contemporary romance stories and you like them to move right along and keep you glued to the story. You will love this story just as much as I did. Happy Reading ! !
Oh, my gawd. The best thing I can tell you about this story is that I laughed from the very beginning of the story until the end. Hilarious! Lucy Remington is oblivious. Seriously. She has decided she wants to start dating “safe” guys. I won’t go into details but she wants to teach herself how to cook, for a blind date ( a safe, staid, low-key guy) she will have in a week…except that she is a walking, talking, thinking disaster! She sets her kitchen on fire – really. The fire department shows up and a walking, talking “hot stuff” firefighter walks into her life. Let’s say Jake Bryant is gorgeous and about as far from ‘safe’ as you can get.
I don’t want to give any spoilers but know that I laughed all the way thru this book. Loved it! Lucy and Jake are adorable, along with characters we’ve met previously; no worries, it is a standalone but we’ve met some of Lucy’s friends in previous books. Fun, quick read for me.
Amazing! If you are looking for a great book with lots of humor, this is it! Lucy Remington has given up on “hot and spicy” men and is going to give the “reliable and responsible” men a go. For her first blind date with a dependable man she is determined to cook a home cooked meal, but she can’t cook! So, she decides to practice with her very limited kitchen supplies! Her first practice run, and she catches her kitchen on fire. Dashing firefighter Jake Bryant responds to the call and is captivated by Lucy, but she refuses to go on a date because she has given up on “hot and spicy” men. Jake convinces her that he can help her learn to cook. This was a “can’t put down” book that I had to read in one setting. Be prepared to laugh!
This is a story about Jake, a hunky firefighter who saves Lucy from burning her kitchen down. He wants to get to know her better. Lucy doesn’t want to date Jake because he IS her type, but she is trying to date bland reliable guys. Jake agrees to help her learn how to cook. Every night they are having cooking lessons. Will Lucy see what is before her eyes? Will Jake be able to help her learn how to cook? Will she see what Jake is teaching her about life and the unexpected? Will they both walk away? So many questions. It is a fantastic, entertaining, humorous, dash of crazy read. It’s a feel good romance you won’t want to miss. Happy reading!

Great Read!
This was an easy read and flowed along so nicely that I was done the book before I knew it. Very solid but yummy main male character. The main female character was quite whimsical. She tries, and her intentions are good but somehow things always seem to go awry for her. Her verbiage is unbelievable; her thought processes the same. Her quirky character was most times, a delight to read.

Lucy was tired of exciting bad boys. She needed to find a steady, boring man. While trying to gets herself psyched up for her date with an accountant, she was going to teach herself how to cook and caught the kitchen on fire. Jake was the fireman that saved Lucy and he couldn’t get her out of his mind. So he offered to teach her to cook just so he could be with her. She resisted but he was determined! Fun and interesting

I floved Lucy, that girl is one hot mess when it comes to the kitchen so thankfully she has Jake who has mad skills in the kitchen. This was a thoroughly entertaining read with plenty of laughs, shakes of the head and a disaster or 2 in the kitchen that has you entertained literally from start to finish!!!

Lucy meets Jake, a firefighter, when the fire department responds to her place after a failed cooking attempt. Jake wants to go on a date with Lucy, but she won’t go out with him because she thinks she should have a stable, secure man in her life now. Jake bides his time by offering friendship while he teaches her to cook. They grow closer, but Lucy will not admit to romantic feelings for him. Jake has a minor accident while at work, which makes Lucy freak out and break off the friendship. Jake makes it known how he feels about Lucy in a public way and that brings them back together.
This was a cute and quick story.

This was funny and sweet and I loved how Jake tried to helped Lucy, even when she was trying to date someone else. Their connection and chemistry was undeniable however and was probably hotter than the fire Lucy caused. I loved their banter and their chemistry. It’s an entire cute, sweet story about finding exactly what you need when you least expect it.
Really lovely, clean short story. Lucy is trying to find a stable, if somewhat boring boyfriend, she has had enough of the adrenaline junkies. Whilst learning to cook for said stable boyfriend she sets her kitchen on fire. Holy hotness Jake the firefighter comes to her rescue. If he can’t date her he will teach her how to cook. Cooking and living seem to be interlinked in their romance.
I loved the story about Jake and Lucy. Lucy, seemed very ditzy at first, but I grew to like her more, as the story went on. Lucy wanted a guy to settle down with, so her plan was to date “boring average guys. Life doesn’t always go according to p,an. This was a very sweet romantic story. I would definitely recommend this book.

I’m a huge fan of meet-cute stories and this one took the cake. Or burned the cake…uh, make that omelet. Lucy is the most impatient woman alive and possesses no cooking skills what-so-ever, but Jake the firefighter is exactly what she needs to change all that…or is he? She’s done with hot and spicy, but the flames Jake sparks are hotter than a ghost pepper.
Hatler has a talent of taking two characters and mixing them up in adorably romantic comedy that is both hilarious and sweet, yet has some deeper moments. I loved watching Jake teach Lucy a thing or two about cooking and seeing those tips spill over into her life, mostly with love and relationships.
This story can stand alone, but I love seeing former characters make appearances, as that adds a delicious seasoning to an otherwise delectable romance.
Content: mild romance

I really enjoyed this story. Lucy is so funny. She is trying so hard to improve her life, and she is convinced that she can do that through cooking. Jake is smart enough to meet her where she is and help her actually change her life for the better. I enjoyed the laughs, but I was captivated by their romantic cooking lessons. I will be rereading this one!
