Mothers never forget. Daughters never forgive.
For the first eighteen years of her life, Rose Gold Watts believed she was seriously ill. She was allergic to everything, used a wheelchair and practically lived at the hospital. Neighbors did all they could, holding fundraisers and offering shoulders to cry on, but no matter how many doctors, tests, or surgeries, no one could figure out what was wrong with Rose Gold.
Turns out her mom, Patty Watts, was just a really good liar.
After serving five years in prison, Patty gets out with nowhere to go and begs her daughter to take her in. The entire community is shocked when Rose Gold says yes.
Patty insists all she wants is to reconcile their differences. She says she’s forgiven Rose Gold for turning her in and testifying against her. But Rose Gold knows her mother. Patty Watts always settles a score.
Unfortunately for Patty, Rose Gold is no longer her weak little darling…
And she’s waited such a long time for her mother to come home.

Sensationally good — two complex characters power the story like a nuclear reaction, and won’t let you forget them. Wrobel is one to watch.
Two extraordinary narrators drive the nail-biting action in this sensational, compulsively readable debut. A tour de force of captivating psychological suspense.
Darling Rose Gold is an absolutely brilliant book; funny, dark, authentic and a total page turner. I loved it.
Takes twisted mum and daughter relationships to a whole new level. Think Misery meets Sharp Objects.
Utterly unpredictable and deliciously disturbing, Darling Rose Gold is a smart, chilling thriller you definitely won’t want to miss. It’s a story about revenge. Revenge in all its brutal, horrific, vengeful glory. It’s up to you to decide who deserves it. This book is seamlessly written, dark and complex, with a plot that constantly surprised. I can’t recommend it highly enough!
I want to start off by saying that I won this book. In a goodreads giveaway in return for my thoughts and review. I have heard something’s about Münchausen syndrome. This book touches on it. I really enjoyed this book. And felt sorry for Rose Gold our main character. Because even after her mother was send away. People were still ugly and mean. This book took me for a ride. I didn’t know what to expect while reading. Highly recommend this book. When it comes out in March 17, 2020
About Book-
Rose Gold is young girl who has been through a lot with her mother. Lying about her being sick and making Rose Gold thinking she was sick. Rose Gold mother Patty is sent to prison for five years. Rose Gold trying to figure out life after her her mother is sent away. But Patty five years is up and she is finally free. Highly recommend this book.
If you threw The Act and Mommy Dearest in the blender, you would have a Darling Rose Gold smoothie! One of the best debut thrillers I’ve read! I really sunk my teeth into this one (a little pun you’ll understand when you read the book ).
“Once upon a time, they said, a wicked mother gave birth to a daughter.”
“Poisonous Patty” was the perfect nickname for this mother! I imagined suffocating her with a pillow, among many other things, every time words oozed from her mouth. Rose Gold had all of my sympathy after the horrific abuse she’d endured at her mother’s hands. But then… Who was the evil one? Who was telling the most lies? Did the proverbial Apple fall that close to the tree?
“Strangling her isn’t an option, so I kill her with kindness instead.”
One of my top reads of 2019! If you liked The Act, you need to read Darling Rose Gold.
Thank you to Edelweiss, Berkley and Stephanie Wrobel for this digital ARC, in exchange for my honest review.

I went into this one blind, and the first chapter definitely caught my attention! I liked the dual narratives and time jumps. I enjoyed the ending, but wish there was more of a cliffhanger at the beginning. As I was reading this I wasn’t really sure what it was leading up to until the last 1/4 of the book.
Love this book. Very well written. Thought the perspective of both mom and daughter and how they looked at same situation so differently was very interesting. Didn’t see the twist at the end coming just knew something was being set up along the way. Awesome!
Not as good as I hoped. The story seemed familiar.
It was a fictional account of a true story about a mother
who had played the medical community into believing that her daughter was constantly experiencing various medical conditions for about the first 18-19 years of life. In the novel the mother is sent to jail. The daughter reclaims her life and tries to live a normal life.
The drama escalates as the Mother is being released from prison and wants to live with her still traumatized daughter.
I couldn’t stop reading this novel until I finished it. It’s slow to start but the tension is already building chapter by chapter. The author succeeded in writing a book that was a slow build like a roller coaster ride until the free falling at the end of the ride. Worth reading!
I found nothing redeeming in the characters.
I couldn’t finish it. Tried three times. I just didn’t identify with or even like any character. In turn, I didn’t care to know their outcomes.
Couldn’t wait to see how it ended, then hated that it was over!
Wow, this was very entertaining !! Mom abuses Rose Gold, finally gets caught, goes to jail, and when released, Rose Gold takes her in. Why ?? and how does Rose Gold deal with her Mom ?? Great read.
I checked the “wonderful characters” box, not because the characters are lovable but because they are unforgettable. I don’t know which of these women is scarier, I truly don’t, but I know it was a memorable book that I will doubtless read again.
Payback is hell !!!
Enjoyed this quick read.
Great story.. Kept me reading!
The premise of this book is wonderful, the execution sophomoric. Too many times the author reaches for a plot line that is so absurd as to belie even fiction. The story does have some interesting permutations, especially if you like revenge of the passive-aggressive kind, but some are just so far-fetched and convenient that credulity is strained beyond its tempering.
