An untamable hellionLady Boadicea Harrington is a scandal waiting to happen. She’s too outspoken, too opinionated, and far too much of a flirt to ever land a good match.
But that doesn’t concern her. The last of her sisters on the marriage mart, she isn’t about to settle down. In fact, she doesn’t plan to marry at all. If only she could tone down her wild streak and force herself to behave…A … and force herself to behave…
A rigidly proper man
The Duke of Bainbridge is one of the most powerful men in England, so frigid that it’s rumored his own wife committed suicide to escape him.
When Spencer learns his madcap younger brother is pursuing the unsuitable Lady Boadicea, he’s determined to put an end to their ill-advised flirtation. But his best intentions go awry when he discovers his own baffling inability to resist her.
Ice meets fire
Spencer never meant to so thoroughly compromise her that he’s duty-bound to wed her. Bo certainly never intended to enjoy being in his arms or to find him so wickedly tempting.
Can her passionate fire prove enough to melt his icy heart, or are they forever doomed to a cold marriage of convenience?

Darling Duke by Scarlett Scott is book Six in the Heart’s Temptation series. This is the story of Lady Boadicea Harrington and Spencer, The Duke of Bainbridge. I have read the previous book (and loved it!) but feel this can be a standalone book if you choose to do so.
Bo really lets nothing much old her back from speaking her mind or doing what she wants to do…and has been really good at staying on line between creating a scandal. But when Spencer confronted her about seeing his brother Henry then going on about her ‘reading materials’. Then he turned and tried to ‘blackmail’ her into leaving his brother alone and he would give the book back. But she ended up doing him one better by trying to take the book.
But needless to say things lead them to be caught which is now leads to what neither of them wanted.
This book hooked you in from the start! We have were opposites attract with the stiff Duke who is rumored to have killed his wife and the out spoken and emotional heroine.
Another great read by Ms. Scott! Loved it!
From the very first page, I was pulled into this story. Seriously, there were so many passages I bookmarked on my kindle app that I might as well have done the entire book! Such emotion that pulls at the heart and the back and forth between the hero and heroine held me captive to what would happen next. Lady Boadicea Harrington is not your typical debutante. She is not afraid to speak her mind and really has no censure on her thoughts. At a house party with her sister and brother in law, she comes in contact with Spencer, the Duke of Bainbridge and this is were the story begins. Spencer is truly an emotionally wounded soul that appears cannot be healed.
“The Duke of Bainbridge didn’t grace a room with his presence. He owned it with his dark, smoldering elegance”. That describes him perfectly and Bo was the perfect foil of light to his darkness.
I really cannot say enough about this book. I could not put it down once I started and I am still thinking about it since the last page was turned. Filled with angst, humor and an exciting romance, this story enforces what I love about historical romance..
A deliciously wicked story featuring a stiff duke and a wild woman. I loved this book and I loved both of the main characters, Spencer and Boadicea. The banter between the two main characters is flirty, sexy, bawdy and just plain fun. And who does not love a duke that is so staid but really wants to come out and play. Scalding love scenes and poignant scenes of fledgling love and scenes of destruction fill this story with so many emotions. The end is so very sweet – they could have not had a better ending.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
Lady Boadicea (Bo to her family) Harrington was born a hellion. She has broken every rule put to her in her short 20 years, both in school and in society. Beautiful and bold, together with her friend Clara (previous book) they are starting a society to gain the vote for women in 1884. At a house party with her sister and brother-in-law, Bo sneaks into the library to read her scandalous book. She is caught by her host Spencer Marlow, Duke of Bainbridge, or the Duke of Disdain as she dubbed him. Tall, handsome and cold as ice, he discovers her bawdy book. Shocked that she has such a book, he refuses to give it back. Determined to get her way, Bo thinks to distract him and gain the book. She kisses him – and both lives are forever changed! They are discovered by his mother and her friend. The only way out of scandal is to marry. But Spencer has sworn never to marry again – his first wife was institutionalized after she had a stillborn son and committed suicide in front of him. Haunted by not being able to stop her madness, Spencer has built a wall around his emotions and immerses himself in work. But he cannot stop his attraction to Bo’s light – her outspokenness, sincerity, kindness and beauty. Bo is determined to make more of her marriage than the physical attraction. But each time she runs into the wall Spencer has put up, thinking to keep her safe. It is only when she leaves that he begins to realize he must leave the past or forfeit any future happiness. Great lesson for all about moving on in spite of difficulties. Love is truly the only worth gift in life! Wonderful romance!!
I loved Lady Boa and Duke of Bainbrigdge!! This was such a hot and fun read. I read this book and all of the series when they came out. I highly recommend them.
I will write a more detailed review.
Bo is the kind of heroine that I adore. She is witty and clever, speaks her mind but has deep empathy for those around her. Spencer is determined to remain rigidly proper, but with Bo he fails in spectacular fashion. I do not want to give spoilers in this review! But from page one you will be pulled in. There was not a single dull moment and the characters are richly developed. I love that her books can be read as stand alones, but you will encounter characters you will already know from previous books and be introduced to future characters. Get this book, and I promise you love it!
I really liked this story! Holy moly steamy scenes, and Bo is amazingly endearing. The fun, whitty, dirty, banter between the two main characters is there from the beginning and never lets up!
This story will have you watching these two fall in love as they learn about each other, their limits and their dark pasts. Everyone is afraid of something and the author does well to show the real struggle that can come with letting others see those fears, and the problems that can arise when you only let the half truth come out. Well done! Highly recommend this book, it has a little bit of everything!
It wasn’t a ground breaking story, but it was worth reading. A bit steamy for my taste, but it wasn’t enough to keep me from reading it.
Good sexy historical. Impossible love becomes possible.

An absorbing engrossing read of two people who dislike each other but are so attracted to each other that there are almost flames every time they meet. They are like chalk & cheese but the more they get to know each other the more they find to like & respect. The characters are well drawn Bo a young woman who hates to be told what to do, Spencer a man struggling to deal with his past. The story is hot but there’s also far more to the pair than their relationship behind closed doors. I loved the Dowager Duchess, the fish dishes & her so Victorian disapproval! & of course Henry needs to find love
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
