An English knight with inner demons meets the Scottish lass who will kill those demons….Following a terrible tragedy that robbed him of his wife, the dark and fiery second son of the Wolfe of the Border finds solace in battle….Quick to temper, and an aggressive fighter, Troy de Wolfe is at the helm of his father’s army when it subdues a smaller castle south of Kelso. Assuming command, Troy is … Assuming command, Troy is in the heart of Scots territory and the Scots aren’t happy about it one bit. Trying to gain peace with a powerful clan, Troy is tricked into fighting a warrior of the clan chief’s choosing. Imagine his surprise when that warrior turns out to be the clan cheif’s daughter…
And Troy is forced to marry her.
So begins a very volatile – and very funny – relationship between Troy de Wolfe and Rhoswyn Whitton Kerr. But the contentious relationship soon becomes one of genuine affection and eventually love, and Rhoswyn must call upon her warrior skills to save her husband against those clansmen who would see him harmed. Follow Troy and Rhoswyn to the end of their happiness rainbow among the gentle hills of the Scottish marches.

I’ve read authors who write this genre with the same kind of stories, but this author has a strong voice and is very entertaining. I’m looking forward to reading more from her.
Love that it continues a different series but it can also be read as a stand-alone. However ,I can’t wait to see what happens to Dirk and Camille!!!!
This book hooked me into reading all of Le Veque’s series of medieval romances. The characters and their families recur throughout the various novels. You feel like you know them.
this is my second Le Veque book and this is getting better.
Very good book by one of my favorite authors
All of the Dewolfe books have been good so far!
The prologue and the end, get your tissues ready! I really enjoyed Troy DeWolfe. Rhoswyn tricks him but she is tricked by her father into a marriage. She is a real character. The fact she’s supposed to be the best fighter in her father’s clan is a bit hard to believe. Canny yes. Clever. Yes. But overall it was a great story. I hope you enjoy it as well!
Pretty good period piece.
I loved the whole series of the de Wolfe Pack. Excellent plots & writing. Read them in order because of the relationships between the de Wolfes.
Another good one from K LaVeque. Her romances always deliver medieval heroes and heroines in historically correct settings. Loved the Scottish h in this book—not one to back down from a fight.
I have fallen in love with this author.
Her characters are so in depth it feels as though you are part of the family …fantastic historical backdrops , bigger than life men and women..and my favorite time frame for a historical romance !!
On the border of Scotland and England, the de Wolfe pack cleans out a castle of Scottish rabble. When the Laird of the land makes a bargain with de Wolfe, it is warrior against warrior. The outcome is totally unexpected.
Not much battle, but a beautiful love story is always what you can expect from Le Veque.
Loved it!
Sue Payton 5-star book. Another great read from Kathryn. This book is different from the others, not as much fighting except between Troy and the mysterious …more
Like all her books, this one is great-love LeVeque
Always liked when the heroine is a warrior
Really enjoyed the book. Found it very entertaining and it was a page turner. All her books are good and always looking for more.
Totally enjoy the historical settings of her books and how she weaves in romance and hope when the outcomes look bleak.
