The wyvern has hunted for the young outcast all her life; a day will come when, after being rejected by civilisation and the tribes, she must at last face him.
Abandoned as a sacrifice to the wyvern, a young girl is raised to fear the beast her adoptive clan believes meant to kill her. When the Emperor outlaws all magic, Raven is forced to flee from her home with her foster mother, for both are … for both are judged as witches. Now an outcast, she lives at the mercy of others, forever pursued by the wyvern. Soon her life will change forever.
A unique and unsettling romantic adventure about rejection and belonging.

Nobody is what they seem. Margie, the old witch who rescued Raven from the Wyvern and raised her, turns out to be a noblewoman with a secret about the emperor. Connor turns out to be more than simply the Wyvern rider. Merrill turns out to be more than simply a captain in the Emperor’s army. And Raven … ah, what does Raven turn out to be? …
This is an enjoying and engaging story. The author does a good job of world building and character creation. You are taken on a journey, along with the main character. If you like books in this genre, you are not going to regret reading this. You know you sometime read a book and think it was OK but nothing more? Well this is the book you wish …
I’ve become a huge fan of C.N. Lesley’s Shadow series and was anxious to dive into this one as well. I am so happy I did. Young Raven is an outcast in her village, living with the healer, Margie who has raised her since she was a babe. Though a common enough storyline in many fantasy series, Lesley creates the setting and circumstances which makes …
I so enjoyed this book. Although different in many ways, it brought back memories from my younger days reading the Dragon Riders of Kern. I love reading fantasy, and C.N. Lesley is a terrific author. Her book was well written, flowed smoothly through chapters and events, and kept my interest the entire time.
Darkspire Reaches drops you into a …
It was a delight to step into this world. It starts off quietly and quickly develops in twists and turns, never showing too much so the reader keeps turning pages. At first Raven is a simple foundling and an outcast. Her character deepens and develops by the page.
I’m not sure if this is a series but I’ll be checking out that possibility. Great …
I can hand on heart say that I enjoyed this book immensely and I must have read it in 24 hours. It’s just the right combination of original fantasy and sorcery, but with a romantic twist to keep you reading way into the small hours just to see what will happen next. The characters are easy to fall in love with and there is not a whiff corny …
I loved every single page and couldn’t put it down.
I can’t wait to read more books by CN Lesley.
Poor Raven has it tough, but then diamonds are formed by heat and pressure. When the Drakken, Conner, takes her it is the start of something new. Does he want to capture or free her?
This is my type of fantasy through and through, magic, mystery and …
An interesting read. Well paced story, nicely written. Although it contains some difficult scenes, I respect an author’s choices in their stories. The ending leaves you wanting more.
There is a lot of rich story telling going on throughout this book and the authors attention to detail really makes for a vivid read. The world building is strong and the character developments equally so. Set a slower pace, the author forces the reader to take their time with this story and in doing so you are rewarded by being submerged in this …
I can’t wait for the sequel! Brilliant.
Another stunning story from CN Lesley, who has to be one of my favourite Indie authors. As a baby, Raven is left for a sacrifice to the Wyvern, but is rescued and brought up by Margie, an old woman with a secret agenda. What Margie has taught her about the Wyvern is a lie, as Raven finds out. A captivating, …
