More powerful than ever, the Guardians of Eternity are facing their greatest challenge yet: a war within their ranks. Their future is in the hands of one rebel vampire, who must choose between loyalty and love . . . Blessed with an even more compelling allure than most vampires, Chiron has made a fortune in the human world, creating an empire of resorts and casinos. Since the betrayal and … betrayal and imprisonment of his master, he has existed outside the order of the Guardians, trusting no one. But now, the new vampire king has given him a peace offering: a scroll that could free his master. Following the relic’s magic leads him to a demon hotel deep in the Everglades, a lush paradise owned by a mysterious and
mesmerizing woman . . .
As far as Lilah knows, she’s lived her entire life within the confines of her enchanted estate. Memories of her own past are elusive and cloaked in shadows. Even Chiron can’t figure out exactly what she is, and if her intoxicating beauty is his destiny or an illusion drawing him ever closer to his demise—or perhaps to an even more tormenting choice, between his master and his mate . . .

What a brilliant book, and a timely reminder of just how much I adore Alexandra Ivy’s enthralling world of Vampires, Weres and a feisty and annoying little Gargoyle named Levet
Darkness Returns is a wonderful story with a gripping plot, imaginative world building and an array of powerful, pompous, overbearing, confused and lovable characters to complete this fabulous tale. So even though it’s been awhile, devout readers will consume this book in one sitting, as it is impossible to put down before the last page is turned.
I’m not prepared to divulge too much or give away spoilers, but I will say that for me, this story returned to the format of the early tales in the Guardians of Eternity and gave me a feeling of coming home. I’ve always loved this series, and this latest instalment just cemented its appeal.
DARKNESS RETURNS (Guardians of Eternity Book # 13) By Alexandra Ivy
I have followed this series since Alexandra Ivy started it. I was surprised when I found she had finally added another book, as it had been a long time. I am glad she did, this is an entertaining read. This is the 13th book in the series and it still seems as fresh as the 1st ones. You do not have to have read the previous books, but they would give you some background that would be helpful. Alexandra Ivy always creates a great world for her well developed characters no matter which genre she is writing about.
Levet the gargoyle, is back to torment Chiron the vampire and Ulric the werewolf. When Styxx the Anasso, discovers new information that leads him to believe Tarak is imprisoned and not dead, he calls for Chiron knowing he will go in search of him. The search leads him to the Everglades where he meets the hotel keeper named Lilah and knows he has found his mate at long last. Many things seem to be coming between them. This book has intrigue, drama, hilarity, great characters, a solid story line, and chemistry. I enjoyed this book enough to give it 5 stars.
