This is the seventh book in the Hades Hangmen series and I’ve been completely addicted to this insanely amazing series since page one and it’s only been getting better with every new release! I recommend starting from the beginning, only because a lot of the characters here have already been previously introduced in previous stories.
This particular little gem is Adelita and Tanner’s chance to shine and I can honestly say that this one was hands down the most emotionally gripping story in this series for me to read so far. We have to go through a lot of grit and darkness to get to the happy part of this couple’s journey, including a couple pretty gruesome scenes that had me holding my breath and left me picking my jaw up off of the floor and I loved this! I love that Adelita was Tanner’s light and that she was able to bring him out of his brainwashed and horribly ignorant lifestyle.
I have to be honest and admit that when reading this couple’s back story I found myself disgusted with the mindset of some of what I read, but understood that it was necessary in order to understand where Tanner was coming from, literally. I loved Adelita from the beginning and she’s definitely perfect for Tanner. These two definitely did not have an easy go of things and to say they deserve their happily ever after is a gross understatement.
I highly recommend reading not only this book, but this entire amazing series to anyone and can’t wait for the next story to release!
I reviewed this for Reviews from the Heart.

I love being back with the Hangmen! This installment definitely carried on the intensity of the other hangmen stories. I feel like I’ve been away from all the men (and ladies) for far too long. Being back in the fold took a bit of getting used to, as everyone seemed to make an appearance in this one.
Toward the beginning of the story, it took me some time to get into the story, and truly connect with the relationship between Tanner & Adelita. I was thrown back into flashbacks, which although necessary, did garner a bit of confusion and whiplash as I was pulled back and forth.
Tanner was a man to be admired, in the sense of owning up to his past. Growing up, he was conditioned to hate as a child, and although not right, the fact that he acknowledges and changes as a grown man is something worthy. Once the story enters the present then I found myself feeling more connected to the story. Let me just say that Tanner is ALL ABOUT Adelita. That’s one detail I was excited to see, the devotion to his woman.
This was another well done addition to the series and I cannot wait for the next one!
Living life within the confines of the Klan was never ‘easy’. For Tanner – living a legacy to be the next head of the organization was a heavy weight that weighed down his shoulders. A life that bred hate and judgment, but only hardened the soul of the Prince who was set to reign on the throne.
What should have been a business meeting between the Cartel and the Klan would alter Tanner’s life in an unexplainable way. The Prince wasn’t privy to the meeting between his father and the head of the Cartel. Instead of learning the ropes, Tanner was instructed to spend his time in Mexico with the daughter of the Cartel leader – Adelita. This meeting of ‘royalty’ wasn’t sunshine and roses. The two initially couldn’t bear to even be in the same room as the other.
The kindred spirits began spending time with one another and quickly realized that their differences weren’t the only thing that was drawing them to one another. The two knew all too well that free will wasn’t in the cards for either. In spite of the bigotry and hate that both of their worlds were surrounded within, an attraction grew by the hour. A forbidden secret that quickly became a desperation between Tanner and Adelita to find a way to be in the other’s life. A promise of love held the secrets that the two shared during that fateful trip.
Two years have passed for Tanner and Adelita, and both of their worlds have been turned upside down. Both remember the promises they made in Mexico, but the odds are stacked against them. Tanner is struggling with the target on his back from his departure from the Klan. Adelita is faced with an arranged marriage to a man that was handpicked by her father. Both realities have damaging consequences, but the secrets from the forbidden connection will reach into Tanner and Adelita’s life in unexpected ways. Will the war surrounding the Klan, the Hades Hangmen and the Cartel lead these two back into the arms they covet so dearly? Only time will tell the secrets that have lurked beneath the surface, but all of the Hangmen will find themselves involved in this war of opposing organizations!
The Hangmen have done it again!! Well….I might need to back up and give Tillie Cole props for continuing to provide her fans with some AMAZING story plots for the Hades Hangmen. Darkness Embraced is the latest saga that unfolds for the beloved bikers and boy does it pack a punch!! This story centers on Tanner and his exit from the Klan. The repercussions spread far and wide for the Hangmen and the former Prince of the Klan.
One thing I have to commend Tillie Cole for is the ability to create this world for the Hades Hangmen that is captivating and realistic. Each revelation that unfolds for the members leaves me reeling and desperate for more. Tanner and Adelita will find that their forbidden attraction will hold the future of the organizations in the palms of their hands. The secrets that unfold during the saga……Oh MY….just wait until it all unfolds before your eyes!! As with all of the clashes with the Hades Hangmen….blood will be spilled and lives will be forever changed. Hang on to the handle bars because Tanner and Adelita are going to take you on the most unexpected ride of them all!!
3 ’I Am Disappointed’ Stars
I’d never thought I would say that… but I think me and the Hades Hangmen are parting ways from now. To be honest, I couldn’t get into the last few books in the series as much as I did with the first three. This series had been my biggest love and obsession when it came to MC books but now, I’m just feeling empty. The staring-into-the-blankness kind of empty. And this emptiness hurts like nothing before.
I couldn’t connect with Tanner & Adelita. Their story was something I just couldn’t care about. And it didn’t really feel like their story at all. It was all mashed up with the other members and it made me feel bored. Sorry. I think it was a bit forced, too. I’m numb…
My obsession with broken things and disappointment may work with Riverdale, but unfortunately, I have to give up on this series.
~ 4.5 stars ~
First of all the cover is even more perfect after reading the book, it just fits this story so well. I was happy to dive into the dark and dangerous Hades Hangmen world again. It is one of my favorite series and I just absolutely love how the intricate main storyline keeps on developing more and more each book. Everything is connected and sometimes things aren’t what they seem. Even though this book is mainly focusing on Tanner and Adelita, we still get pieces of Styx and a look into his past and current life. I adored his moments with Mae and it makes me want to reread their story again. I love that Tillie Cole really takes the time to develop every character in this series, and it makes me feel even stronger for them. The series and character development is just out of this world good.
The war between the cartel, klan and Hangmen is getting more brutal, serious and dangerous by the day. The love and connection between Tanner and Adelita was beautiful, they are enemies when they first meet, but they both can’t fight the forbidden attraction. The loyalty between these two was phenomenal, they were perfect for each other. Darkness Embraced was dark, dangerous, suspenseful, action-packed, emotional and so beautiful at the same time. There were so many moments for which I didn’t see a way out for the characters, and my heart broke for them. There were also a couple of twists the author added, which made me sad and happy at the same time. I absolutely loved this book and I was happy I was reunited with my favorite characters again.
