The Basis for a New Showtime® Original Series Starring Michael C. Hall
Meet Dexter Morgan, a polite wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s handsome and charming, but something in his past has made him abide by a different set of rules. He’s a serial killer whose one golden rule makes him immensely likeable: he only kills bad people. And his job as a blood splatter expert for the Miami police department … the Miami police department puts him in the perfect position to identify his victims. But when a series of brutal murders bearing a striking similarity to his own style start turning up, Dexter is caught between being flattered and being frightened — of himself or some other fiend.
This edition includes an excerpt from Jeff Lindsay’s Dexter’s Final Cut.

You can’t go wrong with this book. If you liked the TV series, you’ll love the book series, and if you didn’t like the TV series, the books are better anyway. The hero is dark, but you’ll cheer for him anyway in this fast-paced read that draws you into the dark mind of Dexter in his quest for justice and to quench his thirst for killing.
Love the TV series and these books.
Jeff Lindsay’s writing ability is to die for. Lovely, Lunatic Lindsay.
I saw the TV show before I read the books. I recommend both. I wasn’t disappointed with either versions. I love books, TV shows and films about cops, mysteries and especially serial killers. This one was so different for me. A serial killer who is also a cop and only murders criminals the system couldn’t put away. Also love the dry wit. The TV …
Not since Hannibal Lecter has there been a fictional serial killer we can love this much. The Dexter TV series had me hooked from the 1st episode, and after that I had to read the 1st book. I love the internal dialogue and the humor and darkness of this character.
An interesting look into the mind of a killer. The author manages to make the reader feel for the killer. Dexter is truly an original character and he’s portrayed well
great story
, the tv series is based on it.
I try to read a book before seeing it on film but after getting hooked on the Dexter TV series I had to read the original. As usual it is superior to the film version and I loved the film version (except for the ending). Read this, you won’t pit it down until you’re finished.
Dexter books are much better than the TV series.
This is the story of a man named Dexter which Amazon calls “A polite wolf in Sheep’s Clothing”. He is a serial killer but he has a rule – he can only kill bad people. He has had sometime “off” about him since he was a child and taken in by an adoptive family. Now he works as a blood splatter expert for the police. This position helps him …
Terrible writing.
I watched the series before knowing it was based on books. I love the show. The book was different as they tend to be but I’m not sure it was different in a good way or bad. I feel like if I would have read the books first then watched the show it would be different.
Awesome suspense!!!
Entertaining, but not as good as the TV show.
Jeff Lindsay writes the most lyrical crime books (almost literary in places) I’ve read. The Dexter character is a one-of-a-kind genius creation, and while the TV series is amazing, the books bring details to life in a way that make it almost impossible to see Dexter as anything other than real. Some of the best dialogue I’ve ever read. Lindsay is …
It’s difficult not to compare the book to the Showtime series, but…for the first time I hate to admit that I liked the series better than the book. The book was missing some of the more regular life, ordinary people details that Dexter isn’t able to provide. He’s a serial killer taught to act like a normal person in order to blend in with society. …
