MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman. Or so she thinks… until something extraordinary happens.
When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death — … murdered, leaving a single clue to her death — a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone — Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister’s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed — a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae….
As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane — an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women — closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book — because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands….

I loved this series!!!
This book is my ultimate reading-slump breaker. It’s the perfect mix of mystery and paranormal and humor, and it’s entirely refreshing to have romance be present and steamy but not a driving element to the story. Perfect characterization, perfect dialogue, perfect world-building…
I can’t believe I haven’t read this series before. Just wow.
First, the main character isn’t really my type of character, especially in this first novel. Even the author admits this type of character is as far away from her as is possible to be.
So I did have a hard time relating to Mac. And Jericho Barrons was hard to like. So is Vlane, for …
This whole series is amazing.
KMM is a great writer and I really enjoyed most of the characters but I quit on the series because I cannot stand the female lead. She is whiny and lack common sense. Jumps to conclusions likes she’s trying to win an Olympic medal or something. Just drove me crazy.
It is part of a series. Probably best read in order.
Kept me enthralled for the whole series. Can’t get enough of her characters and the stories.
Karen Marie Moning. Surpassed all my expectations. Brilliant series. X
One of my favorite series. Always waiting for the next book.
The beginning of an amazing series.
I received this book free on my reader and it sparked myself and my entire department at work to devour every book in the series!
I really enjoyed the whole idea of this story and I love that it took place in Ireland. The supernatural world building is fantastic and the creatures are described very well. The reader has no problem picturing anything.
MacKayla hasn’t grown on me yet. I’m hoping that changes with the next book since she kind of redeemed herself at the end of …
This series is like nothing you will ever read. Every time you think you’ve got it figured out, you’ll find that nothing and no one is what they seem. It will keep you engaged and guessing to the end, and wondering about things long after you read them.
Couldn’t put it down
Fantastic!
Sometimes you need a Fae fix. Loved this and immediately downloaded book two.
This is my all time, favorite book series!! I love every book!!
