BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from Karen Marie Moning’s Bloodfever.
MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman. Or so she thinks… until something extraordinary happens.
When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death — … murdered, leaving a single clue to her death — a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone — Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister’s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed — a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae….
As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane — an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women — closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book — because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands….

Sometimes, I like to read books that are easy and fun and sassy and don’t require much attention. This is one such…
What a fun roller coaster read! Darkfever (Fever Series, Book 1) is all about transition – from sunny Georgia to rainy Dublin; from sweet light innocent MacKayla to dark vengeful bitter Mac. You cannot help but feel her pain and …
Darkfever is the first installment of what is my all-time favorite urban-fantasy series ever. If you like this genre, there is no better time than now to start! Although this series is still being written, there are so many books already released for back-to-back reading. You’ll be glad too because each ending sets a tone that makes you crave the …
Darkfever is the story of Mackayla Lane who learns her sister has been murdered while studying abroad in Dublin. Mac receives a cryptic voicemail from her sister. She decides to pick up and go to Dublin to investigate. Where she finds out she has a great power and needs to help the fae race with reluctant help from bookshop owner Jericho Barron’s. …
Karen Marie Moning became one of my favorite authors of all time from the very first book in her Fever series. I will never get enough of her amazing characters and binge read everything she writes.
Darkfever is the first in Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series – a darkly romantic tale set in modern day Dublin but delving into the twisted, slightly terrifying world of the dark fae. Great world building, realistic and deep characters, and the grittier side of Celtic mythology make this book and series an all-time favorite.
I really enjoyed Darkfever! Mac is on a quest to find her sister’s killer and even travels overseas…alone, to the scene of the crime. She does not find at all what she expected. Instead, she discovers a world that she never knew existed. In Darkfever we get just a taste of what this new world really is. I am looking forward to Moning expanding …
Easy fun read that gives your mind a break from reality. If you’re into otherworldly creatures mingling with humans and don’t mind a lot of sex – some kinky, then give it a try. It won’t expand your mind but it will provide a lot of enjoyment.
I don’t really even know how to start with this book. I’ve read it about fifty times. So many times, I see all the wrinkles and scars and pimples, and I love it anyway. It’s really just SO good. I think this book is about 50% why I write. I just love it so much. I love the chatty tone of the main character, Mac. I love how her brain works and …
3 out of 5 stars. The story is written in a journal aspect, like Mac went through this journey and then is writing it all down afterwards so it’ll be documented, you know this since there is a lot of foretelling in how the details are written. I’m not sure if I completely like that or not, since it’s like you get into a scene and then the …
Exceptional series, above the rest.
This is the book that starts the series. The Fever books are great urban fantasy reads that have action, great world-building, romance and characters that are easy to root for!
I love this series. The first five books have a great character arc for MacKayla Lane. Jericho Barrons is one of the most complicated, sexy heroes you can read. You’ll burn through this series if you love urban fantasy!
I couldn’t put this book down! Great start to a fabulous series!
One of my favorite series.
This book did not fall into my typical genre, but I’m so glad that I read it (and the series). From the beginning there’s a thrilling sense of mystery, seduction, fantasy, and romance. The story kept me guessing and thoroughly entertained. I highly recommend this book (and the series) and wish Ms. Moning was writing more mature adult romance …
One of my favorite series got my daughters reading them too
WOW. A young woman’s sister dies in Ireland and she goes over there to try and piece together her sisters life story only to find out she, just like her dead sister, can see the Fae, and they are everywhere. They killed her sister and now they are after her. She wants to live, and working on that begins one hell of a great story: Rich, complex, …
I’ve been meaning to re-read this series again as the last book has been released. What started out as something entertaining with a female lead that was an unlikely heroine turned out to be an epic fantasy!
OMG! What else can I say about this book? Its dark, suspenseful, it leaves you wanting more, but in a good way – you can’t wait to get to the next book to have your questions answered and see what lies ahead. The sexual tension between Jericho and Mac is palpable. You can’t wait for them to get together and make some magic happen!! The world Karen …
EDIT: Hey Julia from the future here. The first time I read this book I was so lost and shocked with the new scenery and new characters that I didn’t allow myself to enjoy this for what it was. I was ignorant and I had no idea the story would amount to what I did right now (I am reading the last book at the moment) and when I look back at this …
