I’ve always known pain. Existence. Night.Made a sinner.Without a soul to keep me tethered to the world I so desperately want to be a part of but am damned to rule… power surging under my fingertips like the cruel universe was finally answering my screams at night for something more.
And just like that, the memories come, only I don’t know if they’re mine or someone else’s entirely.
Long ago, I made a bargain with a god.
A soul for a soul.
I spent thousands of years without this awareness and now?
Everything I touch turns to ash.
Even my own immortal friends fear what I am.
Everyone but her. The day to my night.
Part of me doesn’t want to know what I am.
But it’s too late, too all-consuming.
Darkness is coming.
That darkness, I’m afraid. Is me.

3.5 Stars
I have loved this series so far. I even enjoyed this book. The reason I only gave it 3.5 stars is I felt it wasn’t complete. It needed more to the story.
I loved Timber and Kyra but didn’t really feel like I got to know them as much as I needed. Would have loved more of them individually and together!!
I really hope this isn’t the end of this series!! I’d love to read more books about these characters!!

: Darkest Sinner
: The Dark Ones Saga #5
: Rachel Van Dyken
: 4.5/5
There is no way that I could have ever predicted how this story would go. Even more so, I was super curious to see where this story would go when I realized it was about Timber. The story can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend to read all the other books first. You don’t need the background information because it is explained well, however, I think you’ll love it more when you do. I did not really expect to like this book as much as I did, that is also because I couldn’t really understand Timber when he just was a secondary character. And now that I got to know him, I fell in love with his character. Kyra was such a great character and I like how the story between Timber and her was made up (I can’t say much more because of spoilers). I was just extremely satisfied with the story and the plot itself. And the romance and steamy scene’s were great as well. Overall, a great paranormal romance!!
A lot of my reviews are also available with photo at my Bookstagram: @justmyfantasyworld
I really enjoyed this book. Though it is #5 in the Dark Ones series it could still be read without having read the rest of the series. This is my first Dark Ones book and now I just want to know the stories behind the couples we see in this book. But Timber and Kyra were great. And even better was that I didn’t know which direction the story was going to go in. That definitely kept my interest and allowed me to get invested in this book even though I haven’t read the series.
When light meets dark
This is my favorite book from this saga !
Timber and kyra . Dark and light .
Timber is a demon – the king of darkness and believes he will never be more . Kyra .. well she’s a sceptical woman who thinks all the paranormal stuff isn’t true until she starts a job at soul and discovers she and her past are not what she thought .
This book was dramatic and adventurously entertaining . I loved it .
Timber and Kyra are my new favorite.
The connection between them was felt before they had even uttered a word to one another. I loved how they interacted with one another from the very start Timber felt something for her that he didn’t understand which kind of turned him into an epic @$$ at times but Kyra seemed to have a sense that he was so much more than what not only he himself saw but also what others see in him.
Memories long forgotten and secrets are revealed in the twisty world of the paranormals that bring Timber and Kyra to their happily ever after.
Darkest Sinner is book 5 in Rachel’s Dark Ones Saga. It should not be read as Standalone as you would enjoy it even more if you have read the other books in this series.
Omg i m sucker for paranormal romance, supernatural and most powerful immortal beings and this book is right up my alley. I freaking love this world and really enjoyed it. Damn i couldn’t put it down really finished it in 3 hours. It was that good!!! Another fantastic, amazing book by Rachel Van Dyken.
This is such a phenomenal series and I keep wanting more because each story gets better and better and I fall in love with each character even more. We finally get the story of Timber the demon king and his history. He can’t remember how he became what he was or how he came to have two souls in his body fighting for dominance. Until he meets Kyra, who comes to his bar Soul looking for a job, and instantly he knows she is different, she makes him feel, and there is something that stirs in the back of his mind. Kyra knows nothing of the world she is in only that her boss is grumpy and there is this attraction between them. These two are destined for each other but why and how it work? There is a lot of twists, turns, and unexpecting moments that it kept me guessing until the very end. I hope we get more and more of this series because it has became my favorite.
I confess, I’ve not read the beginning of this series, and I am seriously regretting not listening to my friend when she said to read it. (Sorry girlfriend, I’ll be sure to rectify that ASAP) That being said, WHOA! This was such a detail read, but one that I was so intrigued by. Gods, angels, demons… OH MY! Everything about Darkest Sinner was this paranormal romance junkie’s dream! Where to even start?!
Having the two timelines wind around each other, I feared getting lost, but as it went on things became more clear and I was reminded of my love for mythology. The love between Timber and Kyra that spans centuries just hits you in all the feels. It’s like a mythological twist on my other favorite tale, Beauty and the Beast, and y’all… it gives you all the intense need, passion, and selflessness that I love about the Disney movie, but with all the risk, rules, and darkness of going against the Gods of old.
I know I will be racing through my next few reads so I can start back at the beginning of this series and read all the way back through this one again. You need this in your life if you love paranormal, it’s a must.
RVD’s The Dark Saga is the only series of hers that I have not read yet (I know! I’m late to the game). I was nervous about reading Darkest Sinner since I had no prior knowledge of anything that has happened before that. I was a bit confused with all the secondary characters but that didn’t stop me from LOVING this book! I got the back story of Timber and Kyra so I wasn’t completely left in the dark about who these characters are. I also loved all the Greek mythology we got a long with the story. I definitely would have preferred to read this story in the order it falls in the series, but again I didn’t let that stop me from diving in!
Fantastic
I have waited for Timber’s story for a good two years now and even though the characters weren’t as fresh in my mind and I didn’t have a chance for a reread like I had hoped, it didn’t take me long to pick it up again
Timber and Kyra are the main characters of this fantastic story and without giving anything away, he meets her at Soul, the club he owns when Tarek gives her a job as a bartender. Timber is not pleased with this, but allows it and the preceding domino effect that cascades this decision
I love this series and seriously hope it’s not another two years before we get the next one, as there are at least another two books that could be written based off the characters I read here
I really enjoyed this book but felt kind of lost reading it. It felt like it was part of another series more than a stand alone.
I loved all the other characters and their personalities but Timber and Kyra are something together.
There was so much going on and yet it all came together, I loved how they both felt when they were close to each other and how even though he tried to stay away he just couldn’t get enough of her.
You can not stop what the heart and soul wants!
Rachel Van Dyken is a master at writing. Period. She has this uncanny ability to write in so many areas and genres. She captures your attention no matter what genre or trope. She captures your attention. This book is no exception. I love RVD no matter what.
She has created a world that takes you to a place away from where you are. It’s a world that you can imagine, believe and be part of. She provides enough twists and turns that you don’t know which way to go.
Timber will forever be part of me!!! Kyra – hello
Alpha female who doesn’t let anyone run over her!!! Their story will make you pick them as your favorite couple – EVER!!! It’s a story you need to experience and live through your own eyes!!
I have read all the previous Dark Ones series books and wasn’t sure if Tiber’s story would grab me because he definitely wasn’t one of my favorite characters in series up to this book. But this book definitely changed my mind and now he has taken the spot if my favorite in this series! I loved the twist and turns to this love story. I like that Kyra was a strong female character and adore the soulmate element to the book. It’s a stand alone book in the series but I recommend reading the rest of the books so some of the parts make more sense . Definitely another home run by Rachel Van Dyken!!
Nothing I love more than a new RVD book, but this series is a favorite of mine. There is so much mystery and intrigue, and just like the previous books in the series I wasn’t able to put this book down. Timber is broken with a past he can’t completely remember. Kyra is new to town, but feels like home. Their nearness causes their forgotten memories of the past to surface through their dreams. I never saw the truth coming, but love it!
I received this ARC in an exchange for an honest review.
Rachel Van Dyken is a phenomenal writer! I know when I start one of her books it will pull me in and hold me captive until the last page is read! Darkest Sinner was no exception, it was a fantastical story of gods, demons, angels and of course love!
Rachel combines the modern world with the old! She gives you classic Greek myths, Egyptian royalty and gods, demons and monsters, throw in memory loss and mortal danger tossed in and you will be up all night till the end of this master piece!! I love how Rachel takes so many parts and combines them to make a whole new story with an ending you never see coming!!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a story that packs a punch and keeps you guessing until all the pieces fit and suddenly everything is the way it should be! Except maybe being sleep deprived!! Kudos to RVD in another amazing book!!
The Darkest Sinner is part of RVD’s The Dark Ones Saga but it can easily be read as a standalone.
I have enjoyed all the books so far in this series because each story is so well developed. Timber and Kyra’s story I felt wasn’t as fully developed as the others so I was a bit letdown with this one. However, it’s still a great story and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
RVD does a great job of explaining the backstory of who Timber and Kyra were and came to be, but I felt that their present day story wasn’t as fully developed. I wanted more of interactions between them and banter before everything came to a head.
RVD really knows how to keep her readers engaged in the story and keep things not only interesting but highly entertaining. Timber is trying to figure out why he’s suddenly having changes to happen and no-one has the answers. Kyra’s on her own since her parents have once again gone off another trip and she is working at Timber’s bar.
There is a lot of attraction between these two but that also creates a lot of tension between them. This is where I wanted more depth in the story because it felt that things quickly moved to the next phase of the story and this tension is never truly expanded upon. It is in that next phase where RVD excels and has her readers enthralled with the plot and characters.
Overall, I did enjoy this story. I did want more of certain aspects, but I still blasted through this story quickly and loved the majority of it. I am really hoping we get to read more in this series.
Like most mythological stories, Darkest Sinner, Timber and Kyra’s book, is one of epic proportions, so much so, that it’s necessary for Rachel Van Dyken to craft and illustrate just how entangled their lives have always been, even before they knew one another or could understand why they always felt incomplete, as if their souls were calling for each other in order to feel whole all this time.
But before the characters or readers can truly see the scope of what was to be Timber and Kyra’s relationship, answers to what is happening to Timber and why it began when Kyra entered his life must be explored and handled because fear can only keep everything at bay for so long and as headstrong and driven Timber is, he needs that information so that everything is known and dealt with, even if that means his path changes.
Because Timber and Kyra’s backstories need to be established, weaving the details of their upbringings together in a way that clearly shows just what fate had in store for the two of them, the past did seem to overshadow the events in the present a bit too much, making me wish that more of the plot focused on the current situation or at least expanded on a few of the conflicts that needed to be dealt with in order for Timber and Kyra to move forward.
Even though I would have liked more of the present-day plot to unfold amidst the pages of this story, I truly enjoyed Timber and Kyra’s story. Timber was one of the first characters who intrigued me in this series, so I’m so glad that his story was finally told, and I have to say that the sexual tension of the paranormal variety seems so much hotter and fueled by more angst than what happens between their human counterparts…maybe it’s their extra abilities or heightened state…not completely sure but I do know that I love reading it!
As a high school English teacher who adores mythology and loves to see how authors use the concepts of fate and destiny in their stories, Van Dyken’s spin on these ideas worked extremely well, and I hope she continues to explore so much more in her paranormal world!
4.5 Poison Apples
his book was a lot different than my normal read and there were a lot of characters to try to keep track of. Timber was such a complex character tho, I fell in love with him instantly. I feel like I would have gotten more out of this book if I had read the first books in the series. I love dark reads though, and this one was no exception.
TIMMMBER! I have just fallen in love with another of Rachel Van Dyken’s characters. Darkest Sinner is book 5 of the Dark Ones Saga and tells the story of Timber the King of Demons. With familiar characters from the previous books, Timber must find and fix the cause of the tattoo that is growing from the middle of his palm and slowly taking over his body. With the help and of course love of a beautiful woman named Kyra, Timber’s friends risk everything to try and save him before all is lost. All of the Dark Ones Saga books are 5-star reads and Darkest Sinner is no different. Rachel has once again created a magical world that will pull you in and never let you go. Oh to live in the imagination of Rachel Van Dyken must be quite a trip and her wonderful talent never disappoints when she puts her words to paper.
I’m in love with a Deamon and his name is Timber! I thought my favorite book was Mason’s but I was ohhh so wrong!
All the gang is back to help Timber find the source of this mysterious tattoo that is growing in his hand. Timber has no real memory of his past until he comes face to face with a beautiful girl named Kyra.
Kyra is all alone her parents are off chasing the mythology, that has been drilled into her head sense she was a baby. She has no friends so when she comes to Timber’s bar for a job she becomes friends with Tareck and weather she realizes it or not her life is about to change for the better.
Can Timber and Kyra find out what’s happening to him and help Kyra remember why she has such a strong pull to Timber?
Rachel has a way of pulling us readers in and making it seem as if your right there along with them. I love this series just as much as I do the Eliete series and I’m hoping sense we’ve been introduced to two new characters that we will get a book for Tareck and Horus!
