I’ve always known pain. Existence. Night.Made a sinner.Without a soul to keep me tethered to the world I so desperately want to be a part of but am damned to rule… power surging under my fingertips like the cruel universe was finally answering my screams at night for something more.
And just like that, the memories come, only I don’t know if they’re mine or someone else’s entirely.
Long ago, I made a bargain with a god.
A soul for a soul.
I spent thousands of years without this awareness and now?
Everything I touch turns to ash.
Even my own immortal friends fear what I am.
Everyone but her. The day to my night.
Part of me doesn’t want to know what I am.
But it’s too late, too all-consuming.
Darkness is coming.
That darkness, I’m afraid. Is me.

Timber. Wow. I don’t even know where to start with him. He shocked me, in the best way possible! I fully expected him to be the full-on ass that he starts out this series being and honestly he wasn’t at all. I first read the rest of the books in the Dark Ones series about a year ago now and have been so highly anticipating Timbers book ever since and RVD did NOT disappoint!!
I think this book is intended to be able to be read as a standalone, and while I do think you can- I’d honestly recommend starting from the beginning of the series. You will get so much more out of it and it will make more sense. I really was hoping to be able to do a re-read before reading this one and I just didn’t have time, and I will say for the first about 30% I did feel pretty lost and confused. I don’t know if thats because I was trying to remember, that made it more confusing or not. Maybe if you have no prior knowledge of this world it may not be as confusing. Either way, Id still recommend starting from the beginning!
One of my favorite things about the Dark Ones books is the amazing and detailed story in every characters past. They’re just so beautifully written. I promise you will fall in love! Even if these types of books aren’t normally your style (they’re not mine), I still think you’ll enjoy it! It’s a quick, keep you on your toes read that will suck you in and leave you wanting more!
also, I think Timber might be my new fav- sorry Cassius!!
Such a quick read but entertaining from start to finish. The characters are always so lively and crap me up, and their love stories see always filled with destiny, fate, turmoil, etc. – I can’t help but get lost in their word.
The Darkest Sinner brings back all of the past characters from the previous books but the main characters is one that was introduced at the end of the previous book. Timber is like a lost soul whose wandered for centuries looking for something he can’t quite find. Until he meets Kyra. Then it all starts to fall into place.
Their love has spanned centuries as their souls fought to find each other again. What an epic love!! I was thoroughly entertained. I can’t wait for more of this series.
I love Timber. Everyone deserves a Happily Ever After. Can Timber find his? Boy does he have some secrets locked inside! What could possibly happen when you are a Demon King who owns a bar called Soul? Timber is looking for answers in all places except his past.
Kyra feels like she’s missing something but isn’t sure exactly what it is. She starts working at Soul when everything changes. The other immortals try to help Timber, but his only hope could lie with Kyra.
One of the great things about these books is they can be read alone. You are given enough back story on the characters that you don’t feel that you are missing information while reading the story.
Having read all of The Dark Ones books I’ll say I was interested to see how Timber’s story would pan out. He was not my favorite and as usual Rachel Van Dyken took a character I wasn’t too fond of and turned him into one of my favorite characters. And as usual the conversations in this book had me laughing with the different personalities conversing.
Timber and Kyra’s story is different than the others and I never knew what was coming next. I was captivated from the beginning trying to figure out how Kyra was going to fit into the story and what was going on with the seed tattoo on Timber’s palm.
This book as all the others in this series can be read as a stand alone or as a series to have more of a backstory. I haven’t read any books in this series since Darkest Temptation releases almost 2 years ago and had no problems following along and not feeling like I had missed anything with remembering some but not all of the previous stories
I read an advanced copy for an honest review.
I have never read any of the previous books in the series, so I was initially afaid I was going to be lost. This was not the case. This book was abble to be read as a stand alone.
I love to read paranormal books, so this book was right up my alley.
It’s the story about Timber and Kyra, who are apparently two lost lost souls who have bben looking to be reunited for thousand of years. In this lifetime they are attracted to eachother but they can’t remenber why.
Will they have what it takes to finally be able to remeber and reconnect?
With a bit of humor, sarcasm and bravery from Kyra, those anwers will be revealed to reader.
It’s a mesmerizing, wonderful ride from start to finish.
TIMMMBER! I have just fallen in love with another of Rachel Van Dyken’s characters. Darkest Sinner is book 5 of the Dark Ones Saga and tells the story of Timber the King of Demons. With familiar characters from the previous books, Timber must find and fix the cause of the tattoo that is growing from the middle of his palm and slowly taking over his body. With the help and of course love of a beautiful woman named Kyra, Timber’s friends risk everything to try and save him before all is lost. All of the Dark Ones Saga books are 5-star reads and Darkest Sinner is no different. Van Dyken has once again created a magical world that will pull you in and never let you go. Oh to live in the imagination of Rachel Van Dyken must be quite a trip and her wonderful talent never disappoints when she puts her words to paper.
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
I will be the first to admit that I’m not a huge fan of paranormal romance, but I am a huge fan of Rachel Van Dyken and so I wanted to give this book a try. Turns out I really enjoyed it and it has definitely made me curious about the other books in this series. While this is part of a series, you can definitely read it as a stand alone.
Darkest Sinner had me hooked from the very beginning. There was so much that happened and when you thought you knew what was happening and why, that got turned on its head. Timber and Kyra were such great characters. They were both tenacious, fascinating and strong. This was a story where you really found out what someone is willing to do for the person that they love, regardless of what the consequences might be. It was the story of true sole-mates.
Kudos to RVD for another amazing story to add to all of the others she has penned!
This is the first book I have read from Rachel Van Dykens Dark Ones series and now I am hooked and will need to go read the others. If you have read other books written by Rachel Van Dyken outside of this series, I would note that this book is a bit of a different feel that being said…
It feels like there is a bit of everything in this book. There is a bit of mythology as far as the characters go, supernatural beings and that sort of thing. Then toss in some good mystery a bit of adventure and finish out with an epic love story. Yay, it was good!!!!! There is just something about Egypt that can suck me into a good mythological storyline.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read before it officially released.
